New Hero Xtreme 160R gets new headlamp, revised switchgear, addition features like ride-by-wire throttle system, cruise control and ride modes
A few weeks ago, we showed you images of the updated Hero Xtreme 160R reaching dealerships across India. Following the listing of the motorcycle on its official website, Hero MotoCorp has finally announced the price of the 2026 Xtreme 160R 4V in its Combat Edition today. Priced nearly Rs. 4,500 more than the regular model, it gets a handful of new feature additions.
It comes on the back of increased competition in the 160 cc naked motorcycle space between Hero MotoCorp, TVS, Bajaj and others. The updated Xtreme 160R 4V gains cruise control and ride-by-wire throttle system and it is priced at Rs. 1.34 lakh (ex-showroom) while standard model costs Rs. 1.30 lakh (ex-showroom). Amidst new features, no mechanical revisions have been made.
One of the key changes can be seen at the front. The updated motorcycle is equipped with a redesigned LED headlight inspired by the bigger Xtreme 250R. It is complemented by a new 4.2-inch LCD coloured instrument console. Meanwhile, tweaks to the graphics and paint jobs bring up a sportier stance as it has been made available in a total of four shades.

The ride-by-wire throttle system is accompanied by three riding modes (Rain, Road, and Sport) along with cruise control – a first for the 160 cc category in India. Hero already offers this feature in affordable models like Xtreme 125R and Glamour X. The revised switchgear on both handlebars enables riders to switch between ride modes and activate cruise control while moving.
The cruise control system apparently helps the rider to set and maintain a constant speed without continuous throttle input and it will reduce fatigue during long saddle hours. As for the performance, the new Xtreme 160R uses a 163.2 cc single-cylinder air- and oil-cooled, four-valve engine that kicks out a maximum power output of 16.6 bhp and 14.6 Nm of peak torque.

It is paired with a five-speed transmission. Suspension duties are performed by KYB USD forks at the front and a monoshock unit at the back while disc brakes on both ends are supported by a dual-channel ABS system. The four colour options are bronze/black, forest green/neon green, black with red accents, and matte grey shade exclusively in the Combat Edition.
