Claimed range figures for the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara are rated at up to 440 km for the smaller battery and 543 km for the bigger one

The first all-electric SUV from Maruti Suzuki, the e Vitara, is offered in three trims – Delta, Zeta and Alpha – and it measures 4,275 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width and 1,640 mm in height along with a 2,700 mm wheelbase. The kerb weight rises gradually from 1,725 kg in the base version to 1,815 kg in the top trim. All versions use a lithium iron phosphate battery pack.

The entry-level model gets a 49 kWh unit whereas the higher variants feature a larger 61 kWh unit. Claimed range figures are rated at up to 440 km for the smaller battery and 543 km for the bigger one. Performance is delivered through a three-phase AC permanent magnet synchronous motor driving a single-speed two-wheel-drive system.

The lower trim produces 142 hp and 193 Nm while the upper grades generate 172 hp with the same torque output. Charging times vary depending on battery size as the smaller pack requires about 6.5 hours via a 7.4 kW AC source whereas the larger pack takes around nine hours. Meanwhile, DC fast charging from 10 to 80 per cent is claimed at 45 minutes for both battery options.

The battery warranty is listed as eight years or 1,60,000 km. Suspension hardware consists of MacPherson struts up front and a multi-link setup at the rear – supported by disc brakes on all wheels and an electronic parking brake. The SUV rides on 18-inch alloy wheels with aero garnishes and the exterior equipment list gets LED projector headlamps, sharp daytime running lamps, LED tail lights, rain-sensing wipers, roof spoiler, shark-fin antenna and adaptive grille shutters.

Higher trims add elements such as auto headlamps, follow-me-home lighting and dark green privacy glass. The cabin layout features a dual-tone theme, a 10.1-inch infotainment system with wireless smartphone connectivity and a 10.25-inch digital instrument display. Storage solutions include multiple cup holders, cooled compartments and configurable luggage arrangements. Upholstery differs by variant with fabric in lower trims and a synthetic leather-fabric combination in the top grade.

Other highlights are automatic climate control, rear AC vents, reclining rear seats, adjustable headrests, wireless charging, keyless entry, push-button start and a panoramic fixed-glass sunroof on higher versions. Safety provisions cover seven airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, hill hold assist, ISOFIX anchors and a tyre-pressure monitoring system as well.

In addition, advanced driver assistance technologies such as lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring and forward collision warning are available only in the fully loaded variant along with parking sensors, a 360-degree camera in higher trims, vehicle alert sounds for pedestrians and an emergency SOS system.

Connectivity and remote functions are integrated through a dedicated telematics suite enabling remote charging control, vehicle tracking, geofencing, driving analytics and over-the-air updates. Navigation tools support route planning with charging station suggestions, live status monitoring and map updates. Buyers can also access trip summaries, driving behaviour analysis and remote climate activation through the companion application.

The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara prices start with the Delta trim paired to a 49 kWh pack at Rs. 15.99 lakh, followed by the Zeta variant equipped with the larger 61 kWh battery priced at Rs. 17.49 lakh while the range-topping Alpha version with the same 61 kWh unit is positioned at Rs. 19.79 lakh (all, ex-showroom Mumbai).
