Tata Punch retained the top spot in the SUVs list for July 2026 while Maruti Suzuki secured three positions in the top 10 and Mahindra placed three models
The SUV segment recorded another appreciable month in July 2026 and it was led by the Tata Punch as the micro SUV recorded the highest monthly volume among utility vehicles, on its way to posting eight lakh sales milestone in under half decade. The top 10 rankings featured models from Tata Motors, Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Mahindra and Kia.
The Tata Punch finished as the country’s best-selling SUV after recording 21,313 units during the month – almost doubling its tally from July last year with a massive 98 per cent increase. The model has stayed put its run of form following the arrival of the Punch EV alongside the existing petrol lineup and both versions received facelifts a few months ago.
Maruti Suzuki claimed second place with the Fronx after registrations climbed 51 per cent year-on-year to 19,473 units. The Hyundai Creta followed up in third position with 18,088 units – posting a 7 per cent increase over the corresponding month last year. The Tata Nexon secured the fourth position with 17,471 units while the Mahindra Scorpio completed the top five with 16,009 units with a 16 per cent improvement.

The biggest percentage gain inside the top 10 came from the Kia Seltos. The midsize SUV more than doubled its sales – increasing 109 per cent to 12,541 units last month. The five-seater gained a significant update not too long ago as the revised styling and interior has played a big role in achieving this tally.
The Maruti Suzuki Brezza slipped compared to the same period last year – declining 14 per cent to 12,055 units. It was the only SUV in the rankings to register a year-on-year drop as the facelift arrived only recently. Its impact will be seen in the coming months. The Maruti Suzuki Victoris has made a big update since its launch and last month was no different.

It recorded a domestic tally of 11,334 units. The Hyundai Venue secured ninth place with 11,095 units after sales rose 38 per cent while the Mahindra Thar rounded out the top 10 with 10,558 units. Mahindra remained well represented in the rankings through the Scorpio and Thar while Tata placed both the Punch and Nexon inside the top four. Maruti Suzuki, meanwhile, secured three positions with the Fronx, Brezza and the newly launched Victoris.
