Hyundai Bayon gets petrol MT and IVT options, generative AI voice assistance and sits on Global K Enhanced Platform

Hyundai Motor India has opened bookings for the Bayon at Rs. 11,000 ahead of its festive season launch. Reservations are available through Hyundai dealerships and the company’s online channels. The Bayon will enter Hyundai’s Indian SUV line-up with a petrol engine, manual and IVT gearbox options, connected technology and a five-seat cabin. Prices, variants and delivery schedules will be announced closer to launch. 

Only a petrol powertrain has been confirmed at this stage. Hyundai will offer the Bayon with a manual transmission and an Intelligent Variable Transmission. The company has not yet disclosed the engine displacement, power output, torque figure or fuel-efficiency numbers but we expect both 1.0L and 1.2L petrol mills to be available.

One of the Bayon’s headline features is an in-built generative AI voice assistant. Hyundai says the system supports more natural conversations between occupants and the vehicle and sits under its “Intelligence That Moves” technology theme. The connected package is expected to cover several vehicle and infotainment functions.

The Bayon is based on Hyundai’s Global K Enhanced Platform, developed for the Indian model with safety and structural strength as key priorities. Hyundai says the architecture has been engineered to meet 5-star Indian safety standards. The booking announcement does not disclose the complete airbag count, ADAS equipment or detailed safety suite, so those points await confirmation at launch. 

Hyundai has already previewed several exterior details through earlier design sketches. The Bayon gets H-Edge LED DRLs, a sculpted bonnet, geometric wheel arches, wrap-around lower cladding and bridge-style roof rails. The stance is visibly wider than Hyundai’s smaller SUVs, and the body measures about 4.2 metres in length. The proportions place the Bayon above the sub-four-metre SUV category.

Interior space is another area Hyundai has emphasised in its booking communication. The company claims generous legroom, headroom and shoulder room for occupants across the cabin. The exact wheelbase, boot capacity, dashboard layout and infotainment dimensions have not been released yet. Hyundai is expected to disclose those figures along with the complete equipment list when the SUV reaches showrooms.

The booking announcement confirms the core package but leaves several key details for launch day. Hyundai has already locked in the Rs. 11,000 reservation amount, petrol MT and IVT choices, generative AI voice assistance and Global K Enhanced Platform. Final prices, engine outputs, safety equipment, variant-wise features and deliveries are still pending, which makes the launch announcement the next major step for the Bayon in India.
