Tata also offers corporate discounts on select models and variants taking the Altroz Racer up to Rs. 1.4 lakh in total savings

Tata Motors has revised its discount structure across both current and previous model year vehicles offering distinct benefit slabs for 2025 and 2024 units depending on variant, fuel type and body style. While the latest model year cars carry modest reductions, the older 2024 stock sees significantly larger price drops across multiple nameplates.

Starting with the 2025 lineup, the Tiago receives Rs. 25,000 in price drop on all variants barring the base XE. The Tigor stretches that figure to Rs. 30,000 across its full range irrespective of fuel type. Buyers considering the Altroz – whether opting for petrol, diesel or CNG – will see uniform reductions of Rs. 45,000. However, the Punch sees that figure limited to Rs. 25,000 and it excludes the entry-level Pure variant.

The petrol and diesel variants of the Nexon are both being offered with Rs. 15,000 in discounts, representing the lowest slab within the 2025 list. Moving up, the Harrier, excluding the Smart and Fearless variants, qualifies for Rs. 75,000 in benefits. The Smart and Fearless trims drop to Rs. 50,000. The Safari follows a similar strategy: Rs. 75,000 on most diesel versions but a lower Rs. 50,000 cut for the Smart and Accomplished variants.

Electric Car Sales May 2025 – Tata Leads MG & Mahindra But A Storm Brewing?

GaadiWaadi -

MG-Windsor-Pro-Delivery-1.jpg

Although Tata continues its lead at the top, MG and Mahindra are closing in courtesy of good reception for their recent launches

As electric car registrations in India continue to scale new peaks, the month of May 2025 painted a picture that has been brewing for quite a while now in the passenger EV space. Tata Motors, despite a slip in volume, held on to the top position while Mahindra and MG posted the strongest surges of the month as they continue to close the gap.

Tata finished the month with the dispatch of 4,319 electric vehicles representing a 19 per cent decline over the same month last year. Even with that drop, Tata’s share of the EV market stood at 35.4 per cent, keeping it ahead of the competition for another month – though not without growing pressure from below.

JSW MG Motor India, meanwhile, registered 3,732 electric vehicles during May – a significant improvement over last year’s total. With a 147 per cent year-on-year bump, MG now commands a 30.6 per cent slice of the market. Its EV lineup continues to find favour, particularly the Windsor EV which is currently the best-selling zero-emission model in India.

Its range was expanded recently with the arrival of the Pro variant enabling a claimed driving range of around 449 km per charge courtesy of the larger 52.9 kWh battery pack. Mahindra’s push in the electric segment is also beginning to show real momentum. The brand recorded 2,604 electric units in May which marked a massive 338 per cent jump from last year’s figure.

The growth puts Mahindra’s market share at 21.3 per cent for the month, moving it firmly into third place, thanks in part to the recent launches such as the XEV 9e and BE 6. The born electric duo are priced attractively in the premium space and they are capable of returning a real-world range of over 500 km between charges in their top-spec trims.

Hyundai’s electric vehicle numbers remain comparatively modest, though steadily improving. It shipped 509 electric units last month – a year-on-year improvement of 103 per cent. Cumulative deliveries for FY26, up to May, stood at 1,335 vehicles. Elsewhere, BYD posted 491 electric vehicles for May, recording a 177 per cent increase compared to the same period in 2024. BMW India also doubled its electric car deliveries during the month, pushing 172 units out.

VinFast Announces India Launch Plans – Models, Bookings & More

GaadiWaadi -

Vinfast VF 7

Vietnamese automaker to enter India with its premium electric cars and position itself as a premium brand in the first phase of operations

VinFast has revealed its final plans to enter India’s small but fast-growing electric car market. The company has announced its first products and various other details for the first phase of Indian operations.

Like most international automakers, VinFast has decided on a top-down approach for its Indian operations. The company isn’t going to tap extremely pricey segments with models like the VF 9 or VF 8, though. Those EVs are aimed primarily at Western markets like the U.S. and European countries.

Initially, VinFast will bring the VF 7 and VF 6 to Indian showrooms, which belong to the same segments as the Tata Harrier.ev and Hyundai Creta Electric, respectively. According to a report from The Times of India, the company will start accepting bookings for both models later this month. It will start selling the VF 7 first and then commence deliveries of the VF 6. Expect first shipments towards the end of this quarter or early next quarter.

The VF 7 measures 4,545 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width, and 1,636 mm in height and has a 2,840 mm wheelbase. It is available in two configurations in Vietnam, one with a 130 kW (174 hp)/250 Nm front motor and one with a 150 kW (201 hp)/310 Nm front motor. The former has a 59.6 kWh battery pack and the latter a 70.8 kWh battery pack, delivering a range of 498 km and 496 km, respectively.

At 4,241 mm long, 1,834 mm wide, and 1,580 mm tall, the VF 6 is much smaller. The Hyundai Creta Electric rival has a 2,730 mm wheelbase. In Vietnam, it is available with two front motor options, one producing 130 kW (174 hp) and 250 Nm of torque and one producing 150 kW (201 hp) and 310 Nm of torque. A 59.6 kWh battery pack is standard and it delivers a range of 480 km with the former and 460 km with the latter.

VinFast plans to import completely knocked-down kits (CKDs) of the VF 6 and VF 7 from Vietnam and assemble them locally at its upcoming plant in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu. Thus, both models are likely to be pricer than heavily localised competitors from legacy brands. The local plant will offer an annual production capacity of 50,000 units initially and be expandable to up to 1,50,000 units.
