GaadiWaadi -

Dacia Duster

Renault and Nissan will launch a total of four SUVs in the coming 12-15 months in the Indian market, including the much-awaited Duster

Renault & Nissan have lined-up an extensive range of SUV models for the Indian market, which will be launched in 2026. Both companies are readying midsize SUVs to take on the Hyundai Creta. While Renault will reintroduce the Duster in India next year, Nissan will launch a new midsize SUV (Kait) based on the Duster. It is also learnt that Renault and Nissan will also launch 7-seater versions of the Duster and Kait, respectively, in the Indian market to challenge the dominance of Mahindra XUV 7OO in the domestic market.

2026 Renault Duster: Making a highly anticipated comeback in the Indian market after five years, the 2026 Renault Duster is expected to come in a price range of Rs 10-15 lakh (ex-showroom). It will be offered with a 1.3L turbocharged petrol engine which will churn out top power of 156 bhp and peak torque of 250 Nm. It will be available with manual as well as automatic gearbox options. A strong hybrid powertrain will also be presented with the SUV at a later stage.

Needless to state, the 2026 Renault Duster will come loaded with a plethora of premium features in the form of Dual-zone climate control, Panoramic sunroof, Harman Kardon music system, 10-inch digital driver’s display and central touchscreen infotainment system among others. The 5-seater SUV will also be packed with Level 2 ADAS tech with multiple advanced safety features including Autonomous emergency braking.

2026 Nissan Kait: Based on the Renault Duster, the new Nissan midsize SUV could be called ‘Kait’. It has already been teased by Nissan in India at its various social media platforms. The teaser reveals that the Kait 5-seater SUV will have a unique design despite being based on the Duster with elements such as a signature front grille with twin chrome strips and L-shaped LED DRLs.

The reports in media claim the Kait to be a more feature-rich model than the Duster with bells and whistles like Multi drive modes, Rear AC vents, 360-degree camera, and 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Mechanically, it will share the same powertrain as the Duster SUV, including the strong hybrid setup. The 2026 Nissan Kait could launch a few months after the Duster’s launch in India.

Renault Boreal 7-seater SUV: Renault will introduce the 7-seater version of the Duster, tentatively titled as Boreal, in the Indian market. Likely to come in the later half of 2026, it could be priced between Rs 14-20 lakh (ex-showroom). Renault Boreal 7-seater SUV will have the same design as the Duster while the cabin will come loaded with exquisite features.

The three-row SUV will share engine and gearbox options with the Duster including the strong hybrid powertrain. The French automaker might also offer an AWD system with the SUV. New Nissan 7-seater SUV: Based on the CMF-B platform, it will be locally developed at the Renault-Nissan factory in Chennai. The new Nissan 7-seater MPV is likely to debut in early 2027 in the Indian market.

Identical to the Kait 5-seater SUV, it will get distinct styling despite being based on the Renault Boreal. The new Nissan SUV will borrow the 1.3L engine from the Kait with manual and automatic transmission choices. Though info is scarce at the moment, we believe it to come with the strong hybrid tech and AWD system, albeit at a later stage.

New Tata Winger Plus Launched In India, Priced At Rs. 20.60 Lakh

GaadiWaadi -

Tata-Winger-Plus.jpg

New Tata Winger Plus targets staff transportation companies and the tourism circuit; continues to be powered by a 2.2L Dicor diesel engine

Tata Motors has introduced a new take on its popular premium people mover today as the Winger Plus, a 9-seater van, has been priced at Rs. 20.60 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Targeted at staff transportation companies and the tourism circuit, the updated Winger is said to combine passenger comfort with lower running costs – something fleet operators keep a keen eye on.

The cabin comes with reclining captain seats fitted with armrests – each seat getting its own AC vent and USB port. More importantly, there is generous legroom to stretch out on long trips while the wide cabin and a large luggage bay make it practical for groups. Built on a monocoque platform, the new Tata Winger Plus is claimed to offer a more planted ride on the road.

It is said to give a smoother more car-like drive than traditional ladder-frame rivals. Powering it is Tata’s tried-and-tested 2.2-litre Dicor diesel engine which churns out a maximum power output of 100 hp and 200 Nm of peak torque. The motor has been calibrated to offer good fuel economy over outright punch which makes sense for its role.

On top of that, Tata has equipped the van with the Fleet Edge connected vehicle suite. Operators can track their vans in real time – keep an eye on diagnostics and even optimise usage across fleets – handy for keeping costs in check. The new Winger Plus is not a standalone product but part of Tata’s much wider people mobility portfolio which comprises everything from compact 9-seaters like this to full-sized 55-seater buses.

With multiple body styles and powertrain options, Tata clearly wants to keep its stranglehold on the commercial passenger space intact. Tata backs the Winger Plus with its Sampoorna Seva 2.0 package that comes with faster service turnaround, maintenance contracts, easy access to genuine spares and on-road breakdown assistance. For fleet owners, it means less downtime and a lower overall cost of ownership – critical factors in this business.

Of course, service reach matters just as much and Tata has the numbers there too. With over 4,500 sales and service outlets across India, even remote operators can expect reasonable support and spares availability – something smaller rivals can’t always guarantee. Commenting on the new launch, Anand S, Vice President and Head – Commercial Passenger Vehicle Business, Tata Motors, said,

“The Winger Plus has been thoughtfully engineered to deliver a premium experience for passengers and a compelling value proposition for fleet operators. With its superior ride comfort, best-in-class comfort features, and segment-leading efficiency, it is designed to drive profitability while offering the lowest cost of ownership.”

Maruti Suzuki will set the ball rolling in the Indian market with the launch of three SUVs in 2025-26. The country’s largest automaker, known globally for its budget-friendly compact hatchback and sedan models, has shifted focus towards SUVs in the last few years. In addition, it has also plans to develop a new portfolio of hybrid vehicles for the domestic market in India. In this article, we will discuss the 3 upcoming Maruti SUVs in 2025-26 in India.

1. Maruti Escudo/Victoris

Maruti Suzuki will launch a new Midsize SUV on September 3 in the Indian market. The official name has not been announced yet, but certain media reports claim that it will either be christened as ‘Escudo’ or ‘Victoris’. To be presented as a mass-market, feature-rich and low-cost model, it will be retailed through the Arena dealerships across the country.

New-Gen Grand Vitara

It has been learnt that the new Maruti Midsize SUV will be bigger in length than the Grand Vitara while sharing the strong hybrid powertrain with it. It will also come with a 1.5L mild-hybrid engine setup while retrofitted CNG kits will also be on offer. We can expect both manual and automatic gearbox options with the SUV. The upcoming Maruti Midsize SUV price could start from Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom).

2. Maruti e-Vitara

Recently, PM Narendra Modi flagged off the first unit of the e-Vitara from the assembly line in Hansalpur, Gujarat. Though the initial units have been earmarked for export purposes, the domestic sales will begin in the first quarter of 2026. Maruti e-Vitara, being the first all-electric SUV from the brand, was showcased at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo in New Delhi.

Underpinning the Heartect-e platform, the e-Vitara will come equipped with several premium features in the form of 18-inch alloy wheels, LED projector headlamps, Sunroof, 10-way power adjustable driver seat, 10.1-inch digital instrument cluster, 10.25-inch central touchscreen infotainment system, 7-airbags and Level 2 ADAS among others. It will be available with two battery pack options of 49 kWh and 61 kWh with a driving range exceeding 500 km on a single charge with the latter.

3. 2026 Maruti Fronx Hybrid

Maruti Suzuki will launch the 2026 Fronx facelift by the mid of next year in India. It will be the first Maruti car to come with the brand’s self-developed Series Hybrid system. The 2026 Maruti Fronx hybrid will get the 1.2L 3-cylinder Z12E petrol engine with a 1.5-2 kWh battery and electric motors. Codenamed as Maruti YTB, the series hybrid tech in the 2026 Fronx will take its mileage to 35+kmpl.

Maruti Suzuki’s new HEV series hybrid powertrain is quite cheaper than Toyota’s Atkinson strong hybrid setup which we see in models like the Grand Vitara and HyRyder. In this setup, the petrol engine works as a generator to produce electricity for the electric motor which then powers the wheels. We will see the HEV powertrain in several future products from Maruti including the new-gen Swift and new-gen Baleno.

VinFast VF6 & VF7 To Be Launched In India On September 6

GaadiWaadi -

Vinfast VF71

Reservations for the VinFast VF6 and VF7 are open at dealerships and online ahead of the price announcement on September 6

VinFast is preparing to make a big splash in India with the launch of two electric SUVs on September 6, 2025, perfectly timed for the festive season buzz. After its first appearance at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo earlier this year, the Vietnamese brand has been parading its lineup through roadshows across the country.

Dealerships are opening doors and pre-bookings for the VF6 and VF7 have already gone live both online and at these new outlets. Both are being put together at VinFast’s brand new factory in Tamil Nadu where production kicked off a few weeks ago. Pricing is tipped to start at around Rs. 25 lakh for the entry-level VF6 trim.

The VF6, stretching 4,238 mm long and 1,820 mm wide, neatly fits into the midsize SUV bracket. Its 2,730 mm wheelbase will allow for good ample cabin space while the 423-litre boot should handle everyday luggage with ease. The VF6 carries a coupe-like profile highlighted by the brand’s trademark V-shaped LED DRLs and a connected LED strip at the back.

Vinfast VF73
Vinfast VF7’s Interior

Step inside, and the cabin takes on a clean, uncluttered look with a 12.9-inch touchscreen as its focal point. The system is loaded with Google apps, supports voice commands and offers wireless smartphone pairing, keeping the interior modern. Instead of a conventional instrument cluster, all the essential driving data is projected onto the central display itself – keeping things minimal.

The equipment list comprises ventilated seats, a wide panoramic glass roof, dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting, wireless smartphone charger, seven airbags, Level 2 ADAS suite enabling features such as adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist, multifunctional steering wheel and plenty more.

Vinfast VF63

VinFast plans to sell the VF6 in two trims – Eco and Plus – both running on a 59.6 kWh lithium-ion battery. The difference lies in performance: the Eco version churns out 174 hp and 250 Nm, while the Plus ups the numbers with 204 hp and 310 Nm. Power in both cases is sent to the front wheels. On the efficiency side, the WLTP-certified range is rated at 399 km for the Eco and 381 km for the Plus.

When hooked to a DC fast charger, topping up from 20 to 80 per cent takes roughly half an hour. The larger VinFast VF7 is equipped with a 75.3 kWh battery pack and, in its standard guise, develops 201 hp and 309 Nm of torque. On a full charge, the SUV is claimed to run for up to 451 km as per WLTP standards. For those seeking extra punch, the Plus version will also be available putting out 348 hp and 499 Nm. However, the added performance does trim the range slightly, bringing it down to a certified 431 km.

Maruti Suzuki’s First Electric SUV ‘e Vitara’ Flagged Off Production Lines

GaadiWaadi -

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara Production Narendra Modi Flag Off 1

Maruti Suzuki expects the e Vitara to become the largest electric car mass-produced and exported from India; domestic market launch on the cards

At Maruti Suzuki’s Gujarat plant in Hansalpur, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched two major milestones: the start of production of Maruti Suzuki’s first battery electric vehicle, the e Vitara, and the country’s first locally made lithium-ion battery cells and electrodes for hybrid vehicles emphasising the government’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat vision.

The ceremony was attended by leaders from India and Japan including Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Japan’s Ambassador to India Keiichi Ono, Suzuki Motor Corporation president Toshihiro Suzuki, Maruti Suzuki chairman R.C. Bhargava and managing director Hisashi Takeuchi. The e Vitara has both global and local significance for India’s largest carmaker.

Underpinned by a dedicated skateboard EV platform, its production has already begun and the first batch of cars is heading out this month from Pipavav port in Gujarat to Europe with markets such as the United Kingdom, Germany, Norway, France and the Netherlands on the list. Maruti Suzuki expects the e Vitara to become the largest electric car mass-produced and exported from India as well.

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara Production Narendra Modi Flag Off

For years, India has been seen largely as an assembler for global auto brands but Maruti Suzuki looks to change the narrative. Built in Gujarat but bound for over 100 countries, the midsize electric SUV will be equipped with two battery packs. The larger unit will boast a claimed driving range of more than 500 km between charges and it will support fast charging too.

Equally significant is the parallel breakthrough in batteries. TDS Lithium-ion Battery Gujarat, a subsidiary of Maruti Suzuki, has started local production of lithium-ion cells and electrodes, making it the first company in India to achieve electrode-level localisation. India will no longer have to entirely dependent on imported cells for hybrid electric vehicles.

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara 1

The first use of these batteries will be in Maruti Suzuki’s strong hybrid SUVs including the popular Grand Vitara. Suzuki’s investments in India have already crossed one lakh crore rupees – creating more than 11 lakh direct jobs across the value chain. Since 2017, the Hansalpur plant has rolled out millions of cars and earlier this year it became the fastest Suzuki subsidiary to reach four million units of cumulative production.

It currently builds the Baleno, Swift, Fronx and now the e Vitara with a new EV-dedicated Plant D on the way. TDSG, meanwhile, has been supplying mild hybrid batteries since 2021 and has already powered more than a million cars. In a global auto industry where EV leadership is often associated with China, Europe, or the US, India is now showing that it can design, build, and export advanced clean vehicles at scale.
