Maruti Suzuki is reportedly evaluating the introduction of a three-row Grand Vitara in the Indian market. Should it materialise, the extended version would directly take on established players like the Tata Safari and Mahindra XUV700. It could arrive in the coming years considering the decent reception for five-seater based three-row midsize models.

Mahindra GST 2.0 Benefits Of Up To Rs. 1.56 Lakh – You Don’t Have To Wait Till Sep 22

GaadiWaadi -

Mahindra Scorpio N (2)

Mahindra GST 2.0 price drop benefits can be had right away as the revised tax structure reduces the GST and cess applicable on SUVs by up to Rs. 1.56 lakh

Mahindra & Mahindra has pulled a surprise for SUV buyers by implementing the GST 2.0 benefits earlier than expected. While the industry was gearing up for a rollout on September 22, Mahindra has announced that customers can begin availing the new prices from September 6 itself. It allows them to enjoy significant savings right away with benefits going as high as Rs. 1.56 lakh depending on the model.

The revised tax structure reduces the GST and cess applicable on SUVs resulting in meaningful drops across Mahindra’s portfolio. For instance, the Bolero Neo now enjoys savings of up to Rs. 1.27 lakh as its GST rate has fallen from 31 per cent to 18 per cent. The XUV3XO petrol variant also gains substantially with a benefit of up to Rs. 1.40 lakh thanks to the cut from 29 per cent to 18 per cent.

The XUV3XO diesel comes out as the biggest winner under GST 2.0. Its tax burden drops from 31 per cent to 18 per cent – translating into customer savings of up to Rs. 1.56 lakh. It makes the compact SUV an even more compelling choice for value-conscious buyers.

The Scorpio nameplate, a long-time favourite in India, has also become more attractive. The Scorpio Classic now carries a Rs. 1.01 lakh advantage as its GST rate is trimmed to 40 per cent from 48 per cent. Meanwhile, the Scorpio-N gets one of the largest cuts in the lineup, with buyers saving up to Rs. 1.45 lakh.

New Gen Hyundai Venue To Launch Next Month – All Key Details

GaadiWaadi -

New Gen Venue

New gen Hyundai Venue will receive big updates cosmetically and inside the cabin while the familiar powertrain options could be retained

The new-gen Hyundai Venue has been caught on test repeatedly with camouflaged prototypes spotted almost every other week – hinting that development is in its closing stages. The highly anticipated compact SUV is lined up to make its market debut next month in India as it looks to capitalise on the festive season rush.

The first big change is the design as the old mesh grille makes way for neatly stacked horizontal bars that stretch across the nose – giving the compact SUV a sharper stance. Despite retaining its familiar proportions, the Venue now gets C-shaped LED daytime running lamps flanking the main headlights.

The upcoming Venue is not expected to grow in size but the heavily revised styling points to a new design direction. Inspired by bigger models like the Creta and Alcazar, the front fascia has been completely redesigned with vertically stacked headlights that bring up the compact SUV a more squared-off look than in the outgoing model.

Beyond the redesigned front, the all-new Hyundai Venue will also carry noticeable changes along its profile and rear. The contoured body panels and new 16-inch alloy wheels will be accompanied by the rear section which is expected to sport a reworked bumper, a new tailgate design and a revised tail lamp cluster along with an updated spoiler.

Hyundai is unlikely to make big changes under the skin of the new Venue as the proven engine range is set to continue. Buyers can expect the same 1.2-litre petrol, 1.5-litre diesel and 1.0-litre turbo petrol units with output figures remaining identical to the outgoing model. Transmission options too are expected to be retained without major revisions.

Hyundai will continue to offer the Venue with a six-speed manual, a six-speed torque converter automatic and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. The bigger talking point, however, will be inside the cabin, where the five-seater is due for a major revamp.

Expect a larger touchscreen taking centre stage, complemented by a new dual-pane sunroof, ventilated front seats, digital console and a Level 2 ADAS package. Hyundai is also giving the Venue’s cabin a new identity beyond just new features. The dashboard layout is being completely reworked while the centre console will see a more modern arrangement along with new upholstery options.

Maruti Suzuki Flex Fuel Vehicles Launching By Next Year

GaadiWaadi -

Maruti Suzuki Wagon R Flex Fuel

Maruti Suzuki is likely to launch the Wagon R as its first flex-fuel vehicle in the coming months in the Indian market

Maruti Suzuki will start producing flex-fuel vehicle in the coming months in the domestic market, announced its parent company Suzuki Motor Corporation (SMC) during a technology strategy update. The commencement of production of flex-fuel vehicles in the ongoing fiscal is a part of the brand’s long-term vision of achieving carbon neutrality in the Indian market. For the unversed, flex-fuel vehicles are seen as cleaner alternative to traditional petrol engines as they run on various fuel blends including ethanol.

Suzuki Motor Corporation (SMC) stated in a regulatory filing that the flex-fuel vehicles are being developed and they will be launched in the market within this finanical year. “Suzuki will continue to advance its biogas business in step with India’s robust growth, working toward the realisation of a carbon-neutral society,” the company said.

Suzuki further shared that one of its key missions in the carbon neutrality journey in India is biogas business. Hence, the company is actively engaging with dairy cooperatives to establish production factories of biogas which are likely to begin operation from the end of 2025. These biogas plants will convert manure from India’s 300 million cattle into biogas, which is considered as an organic fertiliser and carbon neutral fuel.

The biogas produced in these plants will be used in the CNG-powered vehicles of Maruti Suzuki, which are already in high demand due to better mileage, higher fuel price and cleaner mobility. In fact, nearly one in three cars retailed by Maruti Suzuki is a CNG model. SMC is of the view that the biogas initiative not only helps in achieving clean energy targets in India but also increase the incomes of farmers in rural areas by purchasing cowdung from them.

Maruti Suzuki’s entire model line-up is compatible with E20 fuel. Now, the automaker has shifted focus on the production of flex-fuel vehicles which can support up to 85 percent of bioethanol. The company had showcased a flex-fuel ready prototype of Wagon R hatchback at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo in January.

Maruti Wagon R flex-fuel vehicle was presented as the brand’s first flex-fuel vehicle which can run on any petrol-ethanol blended fuel, ranging from E20 (20 percent ethanol) to E85 (85 percent ethanol). Visually, the prototype was identical to the current model of the hatchback with similar features and technical specs. Maruti Suzuki claims that Wagon R flex fuel will reduce tailpipe emissions by 79 percent while running on E85 fuel.

Despite having such low tail-pipe emissions, the performance will not be compromised and the hatch will deliver same power as the standard petrol-only model. It is quite apparent that the Wagon R will be the first flex fuel vehicle from Maruti Suzuki while launching in the first quarter of CY 2026.

5 New Tata Compact SUVs You Should Watch Out For!

GaadiWaadi -

TATA H2X CONCEPT

The popular compact SUVs from Tata, Nexon and Punch, are expected to get big upgrades and here we have explained about them

Tata Motors has drawn up an aggressive roadmap that will introduce as many as 30 new passenger vehicles over the next few years. The plan stretches deep into the decade covering all-new products alongside full generational upgrades for existing models. A major thrust will also be placed on expanding its EV lineup.

The brand has earmarked seven new nameplates as part of its upcoming product blitz comprising a wide spectrum of categories and price points. The list includes the much-awaited comeback of the Sierra, the Avinya flagship EV lineup and a new compact SUV that could be christened Scarlet. Yet, the most buzz is building around the sub-four-metre SUVs in the works which are expected to play a crucial role in the volume space.

Tata is said to be progressing quickly on the third-gen Nexon – internally codenamed Garud. It is tipped to ride on an extensively updated version of the familiar X1 platform which should translate to clear improvements in driving dynamics and comfort compared to the present model. Alongside the mechanical upgrades, the SUV is also expected to receive a complete design overhaul with major updates both to the exterior styling and the cabin.

The upcoming Nexon is likely to embrace a more eye-catching design on the exterior while the cabin is set to see a notable jump in quality, ergonomics and premium feel. Tata could load it with a richer feature list – possibly adding Level 2 ADAS along with a heavily updated infotainment system and digital cluster.

Although development seems to be advancing steadily, the market introduction may still be a couple of years down the road while the facelifted Nexon EV is also in the pipeline for the future. Tata is moving ahead with updates to the Punch as camouflaged prototypes have been caught testing multiple times in recent months. The sightings indicate that a facelift is in the works – set to bring styling tweaks along with a revised features list.

Many of the updates on the upcoming Punch facelift are likely to mirror what we’ve already seen on the Punch EV which means the petrol version could receive a more advanced features list. Tata is reportedly eyeing a launch before the end of this year while a revised Punch EV, already one of India’s top-selling electric cars, is expected to follow in 2026.

Alongside the new iteration of the Nexon and Punch in their ICE and EV guises, Tata is also said to be working on a brand new compact SUV, rumoured to be called Scarlet. Early reports suggest its design could borrow cues from the upcoming Sierra with upright proportions and tall pillars enabling a roomy cabin. When launched, it is expected to slot into the crowded compact SUV segment, taking direct aim at rivals like the Kia Syros.

Skoda To Introduce New Octavia RS In India This November

GaadiWaadi -

Skoda-Octavia-RS-Auto-Expo-2025-2.jpg

New Skoda Octavia RS to be aimed at enthusiasts looking for a high-performance car with everyday practicality and a family-friendly interior

The new Skoda Octavia RS that debuted in India at Auto Expo 2025 has been confirmed to arrive in local showrooms by early November. The high-performance sedan will be available in limited numbers, just like the VW Golf GTI that was launched in May.

The Skoda Octavia RS sports a 2.0-litre TSI turbocharged petrol engine that produces 195 kW (261 hp) and 370 Nm of torque. This is the same EA888 evo4 mill that powers the new VW Golf GTI. Similarly, the DQ381 7-speed DSG automatic transmission sends drive to the front wheels and an electronically controlled limited-slip differential on the front axle ensures optimal grip when exiting corners at high speeds and maintains traction without slipping the inside wheel.

Long pressing the start button activates an “Emotion Start” feature, revving up the engine straight to 2,100 rpm and leading to a sonorous sound through the car’s sports exhaust system, which features genuine dual outlets. The new Skoda Octavia RS accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.4 seconds and achieves an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h. Stopping power comes from 340 x 30 mm (front) and 310 x 22 mm (rear) ventilated disc brakes.

Skoda-Octavia-RS-Auto-Expo-2025.jpg

Internationally, like the new Golf GTI, the new Octavia RS is available with the Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC) adaptive suspension system that continuously adjusts the damping to maintain the car’s handling as per the driver’s chosen mode. While Volkswagen doesn’t offer this feature in India, Skoda just might, considering its model’s different positioning as a more practical family car. Speaking of practicality, the new Octavia RS offers 600 litres of boot space, expandable to 1,555 litres by folding the rear seat.

On the outside, the new Skoda Octavia RS features exclusive bumpers, full LED Matrix headlights, LED tail lights with dynamic turn signals, and a kick-activated power tailgate. 19-inch alloy wheels are available internationally, but only 18-inch units will likely be offered in India due to poor road conditions.

Interior highlights of the new Octavia RS should include carbon-look decorative inserts, fabric/artificial leather upholstery, aluminium pedals, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster with customisable layouts, and a 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system with satellite navigation and wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto. Skoda plans to import the new Octavia RS to India as a CBU and could price it close to 55 lakh rupees (ex-showroom).

GST 2.0: Mahindra Thar Sees Price Cut By Up To Rs. 1.35 Lakh

GaadiWaadi -

mahindra Thar RWD-4

Due to the recent GST reforms, Mahindra Thar has become cheaper by Rs 81,400-1.35 lakh in the Indian market, depending upon the variant

The Union Govt introduced the restructured version of the GST last week in the country with revised tax slabs. Dubbed as GST 2.0, it only has three tax slabs in the form of 5 percent, 18 percent and 40 percent as the 28 percent and 48 percent categories have been abolished. This has led to several automakers slashing the prices of their cars and SUVs with effect from Sep 22. However, Mahindra is one such brand which is passing on the GST benefits to the buyers even from Sep 6 on its entire model range including the Thar SUV.

Mahindra Thar base variants in diesel fuel trim with 4×2 drive system namely LX and AX Opt have become cheaper by Rs 1.35 lakh and Rs 1.18 lakh, respectively. Earlier they used to attract 31 percent GST (28 percent tax + 3 percent cess) but with the revised GST rates, they fall under 18 percent GST slab. As for the Thar LX, the entry-level grade in petrol fuel trim with 2WD system, it gets more affordable by Rs 81,400 as the GST has been reduced from 48 percent to 40 percent.

Moving to the Thar LX and AX Opt diesel variants with 4×4 drive system, they get a price cut of Rs 1.01 lakh and Rs 86,900, respectively. Both these models were taxed at 48 percent earlier, but now it has been lowered down to 40 percent under GST 2.0 in the country. Last but not the least, the Thar LX and AX Opt petrol trims with 4WD system have also become economical by Rs 96,300 and Rs 83,100, respectively due to the GST cut from 48 percent to 40 percent.

Mahindra Thar

The revised GST structure has resulted in price reduction of most of the cars and SUVs in the Indian market. Every leading auto brand such as Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, Hyundai and Toyota among others have passed the complete benefits to the buyers by lessening the prices of their vehicle range. Hence, ahead of the Diwali festive season, it is a big opportunity for the buyers to purchase their favorite cars at cheaper price.

Mahindra Thar is currently available with three engine options which consists of two diesel and one petrol mill. The diesel variants are powered by a 1.5L 4-cylinder turbocharged mHawk engine which delivers top power of 117 bhp and peak torque of 300 Nm. The off-roader is also available with a bigger and more powerful 2.2L 4-cylinder turbo CRDe diesel engine which develops 130 bhp and 300 Nm.

As for the petrol variants, they are equipped with a 2.0L 4-cylinder turbocharged mStallion TGDi engine which generates maximum power of 150 bhp and highest torque of 300 Nm. However, the torque performance is higher for 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox variants at 320 Nm. The manual variants also use a 6-speed transmission.

Some of the notable features onboard the Thar 3-door SUV are Power Windows, Electrically Adjustable ORVMs, 50:50 Split Seats, Roof-mounted Speakers, Blue Sense App, Cruise Control, TFT Multi-Information Display, Steering-mounted Audio & Phone Controls, Touchscreen Infotainment System, Dual Front Airbags and Intellipark Rear Parking System.
