Toyota Sep 2025 Sales Analysis – Innova, Hyryder, Glanza, Fortuner, Camry

Toyota Fortuner Neo

Led by the top-selling Innova series, TKM posts a healthy growth in September 2025, partly thanks to the reduction in GST rates and onset of Navratri last month

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM), the Japanese automaker’s Indian joint venture, saw a strong uptake for new cars in September this year. The company’s sales grew by 14% year-over-year last month, as per retail sales data from Autopunditz.

TKM delivered 27,089 cars last month, which, compared to September 2024, marked a growth of 3,287 units. The Innova series, consisting of the body-on-frame Crysta model from the second generation and the monocoque Hycross model from the third generation, remained its staple product, outselling almost all other cars by a big margin. It contributed 9,783 units to TKM’s September 2025 sales, marking a 21% year-over-year growth (September 2024: 8,052 units).

All the other cars TKM delivered in high volumes were mostly rebadged or reskinned Maruti Suzuki models. For instance, the second-highest-seller was the Urban Cruiser Hydryder, a mechanical cousin of Maruti Suzuki’s Grand Vitara. The company delivered 7,608 units of this model last month, 41% more than in September 2024 (5,385 units).

Ranking third on the internal sales chart was the Glanza, which is just a rebadged version of Maruti Suzuki’s Baleno. TKM sold 3,299 units of this model in September 2025, 2% more than in the same month last year (3,246 units). The only true Toyota apart from the Innova models to log a four-digit sales figure last month was the Fortuner. TKM delivered 2,783 units of the large SUV, 13% more than in September 2024 (2,473 units).

Next on the list was the Urban Cruiser Taisor, Toyota’s version of the Maruti Fronx. TKM sold 2,297 units of the sub-4 metre coupe-styled SUV in September 2025, 1% more than in the same month last year (2,278 units). The Rumion, which is similarly related to the Maruti Ertiga, saw a sale of 829 units last month, marking a 58% year-over-year decline (September 2024: 1,968 units).

The Hilux, unlike the Fortuner derived from it, is not a popular model in our market. TKM delivered just 219 units of the pickup truck last month, although compared to the same month last year (186 units), sales were up 18%. The Camry, currently the last remaining model in its segment in India, contributed just 137 units to TKM’s September 2025 sales.

The hybrid sedan saw a modest 8% year-over-year growth (September 2024: 127 units). Higher up in the line-up, Toyotas with eight-digit prices sold in even fewer numbers. The Vellfire recorded 107 in sales last month, up 23% year-over-year (September 2024: 87 units). As for the Land Cruiser 300, TKM did not deliver a single unit in September last year, but this year, it shipped 27 units.

4 Soon Launching New Mahindra SUVs You Should Know About

GaadiWaadi -

Mahindra Vision S

Mahindra is expected to introduce a host of new SUVs over the next 2-3 years but here we have explained about the possible soon launching ones

If there’s one brand ready to dominate headlines in the coming months, it’s Mahindra & Mahindra. The SUV specialist has an unusually busy product calendar lined up – packed with launches that stretch from refreshed models to all-new electric offerings across different segments as the calendar year 2026 will help consolidate its portfolio.

Test mules have been popping up across the country – pointing finger at both traditional and EV portfolios getting updates as new models and facelifts are waiting on the horizon. Mahindra is gearing up to expand its electric lineup with a new compact SUV positioned below the XUV400 – targeting buyers looking for an affordable EV.

Expected to offer a range of around 450 kilometres, the XUV 3XO based EV will share much of its design and cabin layout with its ICE sibling, Mahindra will introduce a few distinct touches to give it a unique EV identity without straying from the brand’s latest styling cues. It will be available in two battery options.

Mahindra’s Vision S is inching closer to production as spy shots reveal a near-final prototype undergoing testing. First seen at the Freedom_NU showcase in Mumbai, the SUV had already drawn attention for its upright stance and Scorpio N–inspired design direction. The test mule seems to retain most of that visual appeal.

With development appearing to be in its final stretch, a launch timeline sometime next year looks increasingly likely. Mahindra has clarified that SUVs underpinned by the new NU_IQ architecture won’t hit the market before 2027 – casting some doubt on when exactly the Vision S will go on sale. Once it does make its debut, the compact SUV is expected to draw power from the same set of engines as the XUV 3XO.

The facelifted Mahindra XUV 700 is also under development ahead of its market launch in early 2026. It will get major updates compared to the recently revised three-door Thar, Bolero and Bolero Neo. The XUV.e8 concept production three-row e-SUV taking plenty of inspiration from the XUV 700 itself has also been caught on camera testing multiple times.

Tata Sep 2025 Sales Analysis – Nexon, Punch, Tiago, Tigor, Harrier, Curvv

GaadiWaadi -

Tata Cars

Tata dispatched 59,667 units in the domestic market, its highest ever in a month, ensuring a 45 per cent jump over last year on a YoY basis

Tata Motors has begun the festive quarter on the right foot – recording one of its most impressive monthly performances this year. Last month turned out to be another strong month for Tata with dispatches hitting 59,667 units in the domestic market ensuring a 45 per cent jump over last year on a YoY basis.

Even as competition tightens, Tata’s consistent SUV focus seems to be paying dividends with most models clocking double-digit growth. The month of September helped Tata to register its highest quarterly sales in Q2 FY26 and the highest monthly sales ever – fuelled by the GST 2.0 price reduction and positive buying sentiments during festive season.

At the heart of Tata’s performance was the Nexon – the brand’s dependable volume driver. With 22,573 units dispatched in September, it doubled its numbers from the same period last year and it was the highest monthly tally from a Tata-badged vehicle ever. What’s working in its favour is the product’s wide bandwidth: petrol, diesel, CNG and electric.

The Punch, now firmly a mass-market hit, posted 15,891 units as both sub-four-metre SUVs contributed big time to the overall tally. Despite a smaller YoY rise of 16 per cent, it jumped nearly 48 per cent over August which hints at renewed dealer stocking for the festive quarter. Further down the line, the Tiago and Altroz sustained good volume figures.

The Tiago nearly doubled its numbers to 8,322 units – showing how the affordable CNG and AMT options keep the nameplate alive in a market dominated by SUVs. The Altroz, meanwhile, climbed to 4,168 units with a 51 per cent rise over last year courtesy of the arrival of the mid-cycle update recently with cosmetic revisions, variant rejigs and feature inclusions.

The Harrier and Safari duo also posted decent numbers. The Harrier led this charge with 4,181 units – up a massive 161 per cent YoY while the Safari followed with 2,000 units – up 22 per cent on a YoY basis. Not everything went up, though. The Curvv saw a sharp 67 per cent decline to 1,566 units compared to last year.

With SUVs now contributing nearly four-fifths of total dispatches, Tata Motors has built a strong footing across segments. It is planning to introduce the new Sierra in early 2026 to further strengthen its midsize SUV portfolio.

Updated Dacia Spring EV (Kwid EV) Gets More Power & Faster Charging

GaadiWaadi -

Dacia Spring EV (1)

Europe-only Dacia Spring electric car gets more easy to live with, thanks to improved acceleration and reduced charging times

The Dacia Spring, closely related to the Renault Kwid sold in India, has received a fresh dose of revisions for more practicality. Dacia has upgraded its only electric car’s driving and charging performance, making it more appealing for everyday driving.

The Dacia Spring was quite a slow car, taking 26.2 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in the base ’45’ variant and 14.0 seconds for the same in the top ’65’ variant. Now, Dacia has replaced them with new 70 and 100 variants that hit 0 to 100 km/h in 10.3 and 6.9 seconds, respectively, marking a huge improvement in driving performance.

Dacia used to equip the 45 variant with a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) producing 33 kW (44 hp) and 125 Nm of torque and the 65 variant with a differently tuned unit developing 48 kW (64 hp) and 113 Nm of torque. In the 70 and 100 variants, it uses a new PMSM that generates 52 kW (70 hp) and 75 kW (101 hp), respectively, and a common 137 Nm of torque.

Dacia Spring EV (2)

The Dacia Spring used to come with a 26.8 kWh NMC battery pack in the previous 45 and 65 variants. This battery pack supported charging at up to 30 kW, with a 20-80% DC charging session taking at least 45 minutes. In the new 70 and 100 variants, the Dacia Spring features a 24.3 kWh LFP battery pack with a higher peak charging input of 40 kW. This has reduced the minimum 20-80% DC charging time to 29 minutes, which is also a significant improvement.

The new battery pack is quicker in home charging, too. While the 26.8 kWh NMC unit used to take four hours for a 20-80% charging session via a 7.4 kW AC charger, the 24.3 kWh LFP unit completes the same in 3 hours and 20 minutes. The new battery pack, despite its LFP chemistry and the higher-output motors, delivers the same WLTP range – 225 km.

Dacia has also implemented some structural changes to enhance the driving experience. The company has reinforced the central section of the chassis, leading to a stiffer structure and optimised weight distribution. It has added an anti-roll bar and revised the tuning of the shock absorbers and suspension springs for improved cornering stability.

In France, Dacia Spring’s prices start at just 16,900 euros (approx. 17.35 lakh rupees) following the upgrades, which is impressive by European standards. The car has been spotted undergoing testing in India, but there’s no plan to launch it at the moment.

Skoda Considering To Launch First India-Made EV By March 2028

GaadiWaadi -

skoda-epiq-1.jpg

Skoda’s India-focused electric car might still be about two years away, suggests the top executive of the Czech Automaker’s local subsidiary

Skoda already offers three electric cars internationally and plans to expand the portfolio to five by next year. In India, however, the company does not appear to be bullish on EVs. Ashish Gupta, the Brand Director of Skoda’s Indian arm, has said that the company is considering introducing its first locally manufactured electric car between April 2027 and March 2028, as per a report from PTI. The company will be able to build a local ecosystem by this time, while the country’s charging infrastructure also evolves, he added.

Last month, a Reuters report suggested that Volkswagen Group wants to invest more in India but is deterred by policy uncertainties and intensifying competition. Earlier, in June, The Economic Times reported that it has approved an additional investment of one billion euros for the India 3.0 project, which will deliver new ICE and pure electric models.

Although Skoda has not announced any concrete plans for new locally manufactured models beyond the current crop of MQB A0 IN platform-based trio: Kylaq, Slavia, and Kushaq, a former company executive may have spilled the beans on the EV front. Former Brand Director Petr Janeba dropped some hints about the potential first made-in-India Skoda EV towards the end of his tenure earlier this year.

Speaking to Business Standard in April, Janeba revealed that Skoda has not decided on the platform for its first locally manufactured EV, but it will be a model unique to India. Speaking further, he indicated that the company has started design work, saying “product development is ongoing” and that the model will measure 4.5 metres in length.

Janeba also said that Skoda is planning two battery pack options for the India-made EV. This would allow it to aim at customers who have a lower budget or mainly drive in the city, and also those who often drive beyond city limits or want the reassurance of a longer range.

Skoda began testing the pre-facelift Enyaq in India in 2022 and showcased it publicly at Bharat Mobility Expo 2024. The company also offers a coupe version of this model internationally. At the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, the company showcased the Elroq.

Janeba told Acko Drive at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 that Skoda could bring two or maybe all three of its current global EVs to India by September, presumably all as low-volume imports. The company appears to have put the plan on hold as it waits for a favourable outcome from the upcoming EU-India FTA.

Top 10 SUVs September 2025 – Nexon, Creta, Scorpio, Punch, Fronx, Venue

GaadiWaadi -

Mahindra Scorpio N

In the table of top 10 SUVs for September 2025, Tata Nexon finished on top with Hyundai Creta and Mahindra Scorpio in second and third respectively

Last month turned out to be another defining one for India’s SUV market with compact and midsize models once again doing the heavy lifting. The latest dispatch data reveals steady performers and unexpected comebacks, led once again by Tata and Mahindra – two homegrown brands that continue to attract volumes and expand their footprint.

Sitting comfortably at the top, Tata Nexon has cemented its position as India’s best-selling SUV – nearly doubling its sales year-on-year. With 22,573 units dispatched in September, the Nexon outpaced every rival on its way to become the best-selling PV in India. The brand’s consistent updates and the EV variant’s popularity have clearly paid off.

Hot on its heels, Hyundai Creta continues to be the segment benchmark for midsize SUVs. Despite intense competition, the Creta posted an impressive 18,861 units – a healthy 19 per cent volume growth over last year. Mahindra’s Scorpio, meanwhile, is on a roll of its own. With 18,372 units, it has grown 27 per cent year-on-year – fuelled by continued demand for the Scorpio N and the more accessible Classic version.

The Tata Punch has had a revival phase lately – clocking nearly 16,000 units in September. Its small size, SUV-like stance and the arrival of the EV variant have certainly upped its appeal overall. The Maruti Suzuki Fronx, meanwhile, maintained solid volumes at 13,767 units, even with a minor dip versus last year.

Among lifestyle SUVs, Mahindra Thar continues to thrive with dispatches crossing 11,800 units with a 34 per cent jump year-on-year. The Hyundai Venue, too, held its ground at over 11,000 units due to the GST 2.0 benefits and additional discounts which lifted the sentiment across the board during this festive period in India.

Tata Curvv EV gets Rs. 70,000 green bonus, Rs. 30,000 exchange support, Rs. 10,000 corporate offer and a generous Rs. 50,000 loyalty benefit

As sales in electric vehicle space intensifies during the festive season, Tata Motors has announced a range of aggressive discounts for its EV portfolio this month. The brand which already commands over 70 per cent share of the passenger EV market appears intent on consolidating its dominance further before the end of this year and the Diwali period holds key significance

Customers get a Rs. 70,000 green bonus, Rs. 30,000 exchange support, Rs. 10,000 corporate offer and a generous Rs. 50,000 loyalty benefit. The Curvv EV boasts a claimed driving range of up to 502 km between charges.

The Tiago EV and Punch EV, Tata’s volume mainstays, also see notable offers this month. Both carry maximum savings of Rs. 1.23 lakh. At the higher end, the Nexon EV – India’s best-selling electric SUV – receives more modest offers with a total of up to Rs. 90,000. The flagship Harrier EV, launched only a few months ago, doesn’t rely on deep discounts. Instead, Tata is offering a Rs. 1 lakh loyalty incentive as it focusses on existing brand owners looking to upgrade into premium electric territory.

The current festive discounts also doubles as a transition phase – clearing MY2024 stock. If the response matches expectations, Tata could close 2025 with a stronger foothold in EV sales as well as in overall passenger vehicle market share – continuing the momentum that recently saw it surpass 15 per cent market share.
