Maruti Suzuki e Vitara is expected to go on sale soon in India and it will be sold through Nexa dealerships

Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to enter the electric SUV space in India with the upcoming e Vitara. Set to be sold exclusively through the Nexa retail network, the midsize electric SUV will compete in one of the fastest growing EV segments and is expected to carry a starting price a little above Rs. 17 lakh (ex-showroom) to take on Hyundai Creta EV, Mahindra XEV 9e, MG ZS EV, Tata Curvv EV and others.

Interestingly, the e Vitara’s journey has already begun even before its domestic launch. Mass production is underway at Maruti Suzuki’s Gujarat manufacturing facility with India-built units being exported to multiple overseas markets. Alongside product development, the company has also outlined its long term EV ecosystem strategy – committing to support the debut of over one lakh public charging points across the country by the end of this decade.

Built on Maruti’s dedicated Heartect-e skateboard platform, the e Vitara measures 4,275 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width and about 1,640 mm in height – riding on a long 2,700 mm wheelbase. Unladen ground clearance is expected to be around 185 mm. The e Vitara will be offered with two LFP battery packs sourced from BYD.

The smaller 48.8 kWh unit is paired with a 144 PS electric motor producing 192.5 Nm of torque while the larger 61.1 kWh battery develops 174 PS with the same torque output. Both variants support DC fast charging – enabling a 0 to 80 per cent recharge in just 50 minutes. The larger battery boasts a claimed driving range of up to 543 km on a single charge.

On the feature front, the electric SUV packs a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 10.1-inch digital instrument cluster, powered front seats, automatic climate control, a 360-degree camera and connected car technology. Level 2 ADAS will also be offered with features including adaptive cruise control.

The five-seater has already secured a five-star Bharat NCAP rating – scoring 31.49 out of 32 for adult occupant protection and 43 out of 49 for child safety. Standard safety equipment includes seven airbags, ESC, ABS with EBD and ISOFIX mounts. It will be sold with a total of 11 paint schemes namely Land Breeze Green With Bluish black roof, Splendid Silver with Bluish black roof, Opulent Red with Bluish black roof, Arctic White with Bluish black roof, Nexa Blue, Grandeur Grey, Splendid Silver, Arctic White, Opulent Red, Bluish Black and Land Breeze Green.

4 Upcoming New Honda Cars In India This Year

GaadiWaadi -

2023 Honda ZR-V

Honda new product offensive in India to kick off this year, with four models priced from around 12 lakh rupees (ex-showroom) to potentially as high as around 75 lakh rupees (ex-showroom)

Under pressure due to serious competition in many of its key markets, Honda has decided to strengthen its focus on India to unlock new growth. The company has lined up ten launches this decade and will conduct four of them this year itself.

1. Honda Prelude

The Honda Prelude is a compact sports coupe and directly competes with the BMW 2 Series Coupe, which we only get in the full-blown M variant in India. Unlike the Bimmer, though, it is more about style and comfort than sheer performance or driving pleasure.

Honda Prelude

The Honda Prelude is a hybrid model powered by a 2.0-litre petrol engine that produces 104 kW (139 hp) and 182 Nm of torque and an electric motor that develops 135 kW (181 hp) and 315 Nm of torque. This hybrid system delivers a fuel economy of up to 23.6 km/l, as per WLTC. Honda will import the Prelude as a CBU from Japan, so we expect the pricing to be steep, around 75 lakh rupees (ex-showroom).

2. New Honda Elevate

The Honda Elevate was already far less appealing than its rivals when it arrived in 2023, and this year, the competition is set to get significantly more intense due to the all-new Tata Sierra, all-new Kia Seltos, all-new Renault Duster, Nissan Tekton, new Skoda Kushaq, and new VW Taigun. Honda will roll out a facelift for the Elevate in the second half of the year to make it more appealing.

2025 Honda Elevate New Grille Black Edition

The Elevate is expected to get redesigned bumpers and grilles, tweaked headlamp and tail lamp graphics, and new 17-inch alloy wheels. Honda may introduce new features like a panoramic sunroof, a 360º camera system, and ventilated front seats with electric adjustment on the driver’s side with the mid-cycle refresh. No mechanical changes are expected to be part of this update.

3. New Honda City

2025 honda city

Honda is unlikely to launch the next-gen City in India until mid-2028 and will roll out a second facelift for the current model later this year to remain relevant in the segment in the meantime. The company may bring minor changes to the exterior, such as new grilles, new 16-inch alloy wheels, and new paint options. Interior changes could be limited to new upholstery and trim. There won’t be any changes to the engine or transmissions with this update.

4. Honda ZR-V

The Honda ZR-V is the company’s new global C-segment SUV positioned below the Honda CR-V.  It measures 4,570 mm in length, 1,840 mm in width, and 1,620 mm in height and has a 2,655 mm wheelbase.

Honda ZR-V

Honda manufactures the ZR-V in petrol and petrol-electric hybrid variants and will offer only the latter in India. The company uses the same hybrid powertrain as the Prelude in the ZR-V. For obvious reasons, this system delivers a lower fuel economy in the SUV – up to 22.1 km/l, also as per WLTC. The company will import the ZR-V also as a CBU from Japan and may price it around 50 lakh (ex-showroom).

India to get four new premium three-row SUVs that will be feature-packed with comfort and convenience amenities and built as per global standards this year

The growing popularity of road trips in large groups is spurring demand for three-row SUVs, including premium models that come loaded to the brim with comfort and convenience features and show no compromise on fit and finish. This year, four new premium three-row SUVs will be launched in India, and two of them will come to showrooms in February.

1. MG Majestor

Showcased at Auto Expo 2025, the MG Majestor is the facelifted version of the MG Gloster, and it will be launched on 12 February. New split headlamps, a larger radiator grille, chunky skid plates and rocker panels, and connected tail lights are among its key exterior changes.

Volkswagen will launch the Tayron in India with a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 150 kW (201 hp) and 320 Nm of torque. A 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and an all-wheel drive system will be standard. The company will announce more details and start accepting pre-orders on 28 January. We expect it to announce the prices and commence deliveries in February.

3. JSW T2

JSW Motors Limited, which is separate from the JSW MG Motor joint venture, will launch a rebadged version of the T2 plug-in hybrid SUV from Chinese conglomerate Chery’s Jetour brand as its first model in India in June. It will be an off-road-oriented SUV that will compete mainly with the Toyota Fortuner and MG Majestor.

Jetour T2

In China, the Jetour T2 plug-in hybrid combines a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with two or three electric motors, depending on the trim. It can travel up to 162 kilometres in EV mode, as per WLTC. JSW Motors Limited will import knocked-down kits from China and assemble them at its factory in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Maharashtra. The company plans to price it around 45 lakh (ex-showroom).

As indicated by the codename, this SUV will be a model derived from the global Sorento (codename: MQ4). The MQ4i will be the first model Kia will offer with a hybrid system in India, although non-electrified configurations are also expected. The company plans to manufacture 50,000 units of the three-row SUV annually, which indicates competitive pricing.

4 New Hyundai Cars Likely To Launch In India This Year

GaadiWaadi -

2024 Hyundai Bayon Facelift_-3

Hyundai to cover multiple segments with new budget and premium cars this year, with the first launch expected in the second quarter of the year

In addition to the usual model year enhancements, Hyundai plans to introduce four new cars in India this year. The company will cater to both budget and premium segments with the upcoming models.

Following its three-year product lifecycle like in global markets, Hyundai will roll out a facelift for the sixth-generation Verna this year. The company launched the original model in March 2023 and will likely launch the updated model as early as April this year.

The new Verna will have a sharper and more aggressive front inspired by the latest Sonata and come with several new features, including a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with customisable modes and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto, both featuring the new ccNC software. It is unlikely to see any mechanical changes.

Later in the second quarter of the year, Hyundai will give the Exter its mid-cycle facelift. There have been rumours of the new Exter getting a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 9.9-inch digital instrument cluster. The updated model should also feature redesigned bumpers, tweaked headlamps and tail lamps, and new 15-inch alloy wheels. Hyundai is unlikely to make any changes to the engines or transmissions of the Exter with the facelift.

Sometime in June or July, Hyundai will likely launch the new Ioniq 5, which it revealed internationally way back in March 2024. The facelifted model features subtle design changes and gains a rear windshield wiper and washer, Digital Key 2, a new, three-spoke steering wheel, and a ccNC-based 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and 12.3-inch infotainment system. A larger, 84 kWh battery pack will improve the driving range.

Around the festive season, Hyundai will likely conduct its most important launch of the year – Bayon. This will not be the current model sold internationally but the upcoming, second-generation model that is currently under development. The Bayon will be a sub-4 metre SUV positioned above the Venue, featuring a sportier and more technical-looking exterior. Based on the same platform as the next, fourth-generation i20’s platform, it will debut Hyundai’s hybrid-ready 1.2-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine.

The Mahindra XUV 7XO, all-new Kia Seltos, and new Tata Punch were just among a few of many new cars coming to Indian showrooms in January. Six more new SUVs are scheduled for debut or launch in the second half of this month.

On 19 January, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) will hold the India debut of the Toyota Urban Cruiser, a mechanical cousin of the Maruti e Vitara. Nissan will launch the Gravite, a new sub-4 metre MPV based on the same CMF-A+ platform as the Magnite sub-4 metre SUV, in the coming weeks. It will be a rebadged version of the Renault Triber, but with uniquely designed grilles, bumpers, wheels, and tweaked headlamp and tail lamp clusters. It will likely be offered with the same set of features, a 1.0-litre three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, and a choice of 5-speed manual and automated manual transmissions.

It will likely only be offered with 1.0-litre three-cylinder and 1.3-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engines.

Volkswagen plans to conduct the India debut of the Tayron, its new mid-size SUV replacing the Tiguan Allspace, on 28 January. It will offer the Tayron with features like 19-inch alloy wheels, massage front seats, a 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a 30-colour ambient lighting system.

Kia Dec 2025 Sales Analysis – Seltos, Carens, Sonet, Syros, Carnival

GaadiWaadi -

kia sonet facelift-11

In December 2025, Kia recorded 18,659 units as against 8,957 units during the same period the previous year with a YoY growth of 108 per cent

Kia India endured a good ending to the 2025 calendar year by recording 18,659 units in December – showing a notable improvement on a year-on-year basis but an obvious slowdown compared to the previous month. Its volume sales more than doubled from 8,957 units in December 2024 – translating into a 108 per cent year-on-year growth.

However, volumes dropped from 25,489 units in November 2025 resulting in a 27 per cent month-on-month decline. The Kia Sonet continued to lead the way in terms of monthly volumes. With 9,418 units dispatched in December 2025, the compact SUV alone contributed around half of Kia’s total sales. Compared to 3,337 units in December 2024, Sonet volumes jumped by a massive 182 per cent year-on-year.

On a month-on-month basis, however, Sonet sales fell from 12,051 units in November with a 22 per cent decline indicating that November had benefitted from higher festive and pre year-end dispatches. The Seltos recorded 4,369 units in December – up from 2,830 units a year earlier – resulting in a 54 per cent year-on-year increase.

The Carens MPV posted 3,681 units in December 2025 – improving from 2,626 units in December 2024 with a 40 per cent year-on-year rise.
