Lamborghini Cancels Lanzador EV, Confirms Plug-In Hybrid

Lamborghini drops Lanzador EV plan, opts for plug-in hybrid instead

Lamborghini has revised its electrification roadmap, confirming that the production version of the Lanzador will no longer be a fully electric model. Instead, the Italian performance brand plans to introduce the vehicle with a plug-in hybrid powertrain, signalling a more cautious approach toward battery-only supercars.

The Lanzador was first previewed as a concept in 2023 and had been earmarked as Lamborghini’s first mass-production EV, originally targeted for the latter part of the decade. Following an internal assessment of market conditions and buyer preferences, the company has now concluded that demand for fully electric supercars remains extremely limited within its customer base.

Company leadership has indicated that buyers in this segment still prioritise the sensory and emotional aspects associated with traditional high-performance engines, including sound, throttle response and mechanical character. As a result, the brand believes a rapid transition to full electrification could present commercial risks if customer acceptance does not keep pace.

While the all-electric version has been dropped, the Lanzador project itself continues. The upcoming model will instead combine an internal combustion engine with electric assistance, aligning it with Lamborghini’s broader shift toward high-performance hybrid systems already seen across its current range.

The company has also stepped back from earlier considerations of introducing a fully electric successor to the Urus in the near term. Given the SUV’s importance as Lamborghini’s highest-volume product, the firm appears intent on avoiding major technology shifts that could affect its core sales stability.

For now, Lamborghini’s strategy centres on expanding plug-in hybrid technology as a transitional solution. This allows the manufacturer to address tightening global emissions rules while retaining the performance characteristics and driving engagement expected from the brand.

The move reflects a wider trend in the high-performance automotive sector, where some manufacturers are reassessing the timeline for fully electric flagship models even as others continue pushing ahead with battery-electric supercar programmes.

Tata-Avinya-X-2.jpg

Tata is all set to bring in 3 more new electric cars this calendar year in India and here we have brought you a rundown

Being the electric passenger vehicle market leader with over 50 per cent market share, Tata Motors is all prepared to expand its advantage at the top by introducing new models and two have already been confirmed. Not too long ago, Tata launched the Harrier EV while the facelifted Punch EV entered the domestic scenes recently. Here we have explained about the three upcoming offerings this year:

1. Tata Tiago EV Facelift:

Recent spy photographs indicate that a comprehensively revised Tata Tiago EV is under development. The front end appears to feature new LED headlamps and sharper daytime running lights along with a reshaped nose and reprofiled bumper. They also show larger ORVMs suggesting the possible addition of a 360-degree camera system. It will also get newly designed aero-styled wheels, an electric sunroof, revised tail lamps, new rear bumper, etc.

The facelifted model may benefit from improved materials and finishes inside the cabin. There is speculation that Tata could equip the updated hatchback with the 30 kWh battery pack seen in the Tata Punch EV with improved range.

2. Tata Avinya:

Towards the end of the second half of 2026, Tata Motors is expected to reveal the first production vehicle from its Avinya range – a high-end electric sub-brand that will be positioned above the company’s current EV portfolio. Originally showcased through a series of concept presentations, the debut model may adopt a sportback body style and will sit on the localised version of JLR’s EMA platform.

3. Tata Sierra EV:

The zero-emission version of the Sierra will take advantage of the good market reception for its ICE counterpart and will be sold with a pair of battery pack options enabling a driving range of around 450 km on a single charge and it will support fast charging too. As for the design, it retains most of the elements from its sibling barring the addition of a closed-off grille section and other subtle changes while the equipment list will largely remain identical.

Yamaha Jan 2026 Sales Analysis – FZ, RayZR, MT15, R15, XSR, Fascino, Aerox

GaadiWaadi -

Yamaha XSR 155

Yamaha finished seventh in the overall manufacturers’ sales standings in January 2026 with a total of 64,299 units

The month of January 2026 saw the RayZR emerging as Yamaha’s top performer while established nameplates like the FZ, MT-15 and R15 continue to consolidate the brand’s presence in the domestic market. The RayZR led the charts with 19,815 units last month – registering a notable 30 per cent year-on-year growth and a healthy 40 per cent month-on-month increase.

Its youthful appeal, light in nature and fuel efficiency continue to garner customers. In the second position and not far behind the RayZR was the FZ range which posted a total of 12,477 units – growing 9 per cent on a year-on-year basis. While growth appears moderate compared to scooters, the FZ remains Yamaha’s most consistent motorcycle brand.

The Yamaha MT-15 delivered one of the most impressive month-on-month gains – rising 152 per cent compared to December 2025 to reach 11,081 units. On a year-on-year level, its volume growth stood at 4 per cent. The MT-15’s aggressive streetfighter design and brand recall among younger riders make it a high margin product for the Japanese auto major.

The R15, long regarded as Yamaha’s entry-level supersport icon, recorded 8,301 units with flat year-on-year growth but a steep 52 per cent month-on-month jump was also seen. It is safe to say that the recently launched XSR 155 might have eaten into its volumes. The neo-retro motorcycle posted a tally of 4,087 units in January 2026 in India.

The Aerox registered 2,841 units with a massive 61 per cent year-on-year growth and an even more impressive 176 per cent month-on-month surge. TVS Files Design Patent For The Tangent RR In India – First Look Of Apache RR 450?

GaadiWaadi -

TVS Apache RR 450 Design Patent

The Tangent RR will be based on the new 450cc-class twin-cylinder platform, which has been jointly developed by TVS and BMW

TVS Motor Company is ready to expand its portfolio in the Indian market, and the next big launch could be a new fully faired 450cc twin-cylinder sportbike. The development builds around the recent design patent filed by the Indian two-wheeler manufacturer for the Tangent RR, which was showcased in concept form at the 2025 EICMA.

While the details of the upcoming TVS twin-cylinder motorcycle are scarce at the moment, we believe that the Tangent RR will join the brand’s line-up as the Apache RR 450, positioned as the new flagship product. Once launched, it will rival the likes of the Aprilia RS 457 and Yamaha R3.

BMW will most likely launch its own version of the 450cc fully faired sportbike, something we have seen with the current 310cc platform. Apart from this, the sports naked version of the 450cc motorcycle could also debut at a later stage, joining the RTR series in the company’s portfolio.

TVS Apache RR 450 Design Patent (1)

Talking about the design patent, the Tangent RR appears quite similar to the concept version showcased last year. It features an aggressive faired sportbike stance with sharp styling elements, along with lots of cuts and creases. Some of the design highlights of the Tangent RR include a dual-headlamp setup, sculpted tank, sleek fairing, and a set of clip-on handlebars.

Overall, the bikes seem quite track-oriented, and the slick tyres seen in the patent images further point in the same direction. However, the final production version will likely be more road-focused with regular tyres and a proper two-piece seating setup.

TVS Apache RR 450 Design Patent (2)

In terms of hardware, we can spot the USD forks at the front and a rear mono-shock. The bike sports a dual-disc setup at the front, highlighting the strong focus on the braking capabilities. It gets an under-seat exhaust, however, we expect the final production version to come with an under-belly exhaust, as seen on the recent spy shots. In addition to this, the monocoque subframe can also be seen in the patent images.

The TVS Tangent RR will be powered by the new 450cc-class twin-cylinder liquid-cooled engine, mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The power output figures will stand around 48 hp and 43 Nm of peak torque. In terms of features, the sportbike is expected to get a long list of electronic aids, and an advanced digital instrument cluster.

Mahindra To Launch A New Premium Electric SUV Next Year

GaadiWaadi -

mahindra electric cars -10-2

Mahindra’s Tata Harrier.ev rival likely dubbed ‘BE 7’ to be the fourth model in its new range of dedicated electric SUVs based on a skateboard platform

After launching four new electric SUVs in quick succession in less than 12 months, Mahindra is hitting the pause button in the zero-emission space. The company will launch its next electric model in 2027, and that will be a C-SUV competing with the Tata Harrier.ev.

During Mahindra’s Q3 FY2026 earnings conference call on 11 February, Rajesh Jejurikar, the Executive Director and CEO of the company’s auto and farm business, talked about plans on the EV front. He revealed that the production version of the Mahindra BE.07 concept, introduced in August 2022, will debut in 2027.

Speaking further, Jejurikar said that Mahindra believes the next Born Electric model “will be a very big volume driver.” The company will have a portfolio of six electric models next year, comprising XUV 3XO EV, XUV 400, BE 6, the BE.07 concept’s production version, XEV 9S, and the XEV 9e. Jejurikar said that Mahindra probably won’t use the BE.07 name for the final vehicle, and we think BE 7 or BE 7e would be a fitting choice instead.

The Mahindra BE.07 concept measures 4,565 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, and 1,660 mm in height and has a 2,775 mm wheelbase. Its production version will likely have similar dimensions, comfortably positioning it between the Mahindra BE 6 and Mahindra XEV 9S. The exterior and interior design should be close to the concept.

Mahindra may launch the BE.07 concept’s production version in two single-motor RWD variants. In the base variant, it could use a motor producing 170 kW (228 hp) and 380 Nm of torque and a 59 kWh LFP battery pack. In the top variant, it may combine a more powerful motor that develops 210 kW (282 hp) and 380 Nm of torque with a 79 kWh LFP battery pack. The base variant may deliver a range of around 530 kilometres, and the top variant around 650 kilometres.

The Mahindra BE.07 will likely be loaded to the brim with premium features, including a semi-adaptive suspension, a frunk, a gesture-controlled power tailgate, electrically deployable flush door handles, a 12.3-inch passenger touchscreen, and a panoramic sunroof with integrated ambient lighting. A slew of Level 2+ advanced driver assistance systems, seven airbags, and a 360º camera system should be among the main safety equipment.

4 Upcoming Hyundai SUVs Arriving Soon In India – 2 ICE & 2 EVs

GaadiWaadi -

Hyundai Inster

Here we have brought you a rundown of the 4 upcoming Hyundai SUVs that are expected to arrive in the due course of this CY in India

Hyundai has been encountering intensified rivalry across several segments particularly from domestic players. To reinforce its position in 2026, the automaker is planning for the addition of at least four new SUVs across different segments and price points. Here’s a detailed look at what’s in store:

1. Hyundai Compact EV:

Hyundai’s first fully localised small electric vehicle for India could draw design and packaging cues from the Inster EV sold overseas. Positioned as an affordable zero-emission urban offering, it is expected to take the fight directly to rivals such as the Tata Punch EV and the recently launched Mahindra XUV 3XO EV.

Hyundai Inster (2)

It could be offered with two battery pack choices with the larger version projected to deliver a real-world driving range of over 350 km upon arrival later this year or in early 2027.

The model could introduce a new 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine while also sharing certain powertrain options with the latest Venue which received a huge update a few months ago.

3. Updated Hyundai Exter:

Hyundai-Exter-Pro-Pack.jpg

Despite the Exter is still relatively new in Hyundai’s portfolio, it is slated for a mid-life refresh in calendar year 2026. The update is expected to focus mainly on styling enhancements and the introduction of additional features to keep it competitive in the segment. However, the existing engine and transmission combinations are likely to be carried forward without mechanical changes.

In the international markets, the facelifted Ioniq 5 gains subtle styling tweaks on the outside such as reprofiled bumpers, an updated grille design and newly styled alloy wheels and similar changes are likely on the India-spec version. The cabin has been reworked with a stronger emphasis on usability featuring more physical buttons for key functions along with a newly designed three-spoke steering wheel. The Korean brand could bring in the larger 84 kWh battery pack as well with improved range.
