Volkswagen Reveals New Taigun As Production Begins, Launch On 9 April

GaadiWaadi -

New VW Taigun (3)

Sharper, more tech-laden, and more fuel-efficient new VW Taigun to be formally revealed and detailed on 9 April

Just days after releasing the first teaser of the new Taigun, Volkswagen has revealed its exterior. The company has started its production at its Chakan plant and shared images of the first units rolling off the assembly line. As we earlier reported, the new VW Taigun heavily draws on the VW Tharu XR manufactured by the SAIC-Volkswagen joint venture in China. This connection is mainly evident at the front, which has been designed to look cleaner and more assertive.

The facelifted Taigun features sleeker headlamps, a noticeably slimmer upper grille with two light bands positioned along the same height as the DRLs, and a much larger body-coloured bumper surface below these elements. The brand logo carries backlighting to make the front even bolder, while the lower grille has a simpler design.

On the sides, there are new 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in MRF Wanderer tyres. The rear-end is different from the Tharu XR, featuring tail lamps in a boxy shape similar to the old model, albeit with new graphics.

New VW Taigun (2)

The GT variant features special features such as red GT logos, black 17-inch alloy wheels, black side mirrors, and red brake callipers. Volkswagen may also offer a GT-Line variant with similar styling bits. The Chrome variant can be recognised from two full-width horizontal slats in the lower front fascia and new 17-inch alloy wheels featuring a silver finish.

Inside, Volkswagen has redesigned the dashboard to incorporate vertical AC vents on the sides and a floating 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system. This dashboard is reminiscent of the VW Tharu, a larger (C-segment) SUV from SAIC-Volkswagen. A 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a new rear seat with a massage function, a panoramic sunroof, and upgraded AC with a variable-geometry compressor should also be among the interior changes.

New VW Taigun (4)

Volkswagen will likely launch the new Taigun with the carried-over 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine linked to the old 6-speed manual transmission or a new 8-speed automatic transmission, and the carried-over 1.5-litre TSI Evo petrol engine paired with the old 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission. The new 8-speed automatic transmission should be more efficient, leading to a higher fuel economy of around 19 km/l.

GaadiWaadi -

triumph-tracker-400.jpg

Triumph Tracker 400 uses a revised TR-series 350 cc engine that produces 40 PS at 8,750 rpm in a similar fashion to the Thruxton 400

Triumph Motorcycles has expanded its modern-classic portfolio with the introduction of the all-new Tracker 400 which is priced at Rs. 2,46,225 (ex-showroom, Delhi). Drawing heavy inspiration from flat-track racing, the motorcycle combines retro design elements with a street-based attire giving the motorcycle a minimalistic look.

Powering the new offering is a revised TR-series 350 cc engine that produces 40 PS at 8,750 rpm in a similar fashion to the Thruxton 400. The motor is said to be tuned to deliver responsive performance while maintaining everyday rideability with engaging character. As for the styling, the Tracker 400 gets race-inspired design elements.

It features a sculpted fuel tank with knee recesses, a compact flyscreen, a colour-matched seat cowl and a distinctive number board displaying “400”. The styling is further enhanced by aggressive graphics, racing stripes and mud-splatter detailing that extend across the bodywork. The rider’s triangle has been adjusted to suit its character.

triumph-tracker-400-1.jpg

Wide and flat handlebars combined with repositioned footpegs create a more commanding stance according to the brand. It is supported by a dedicated chassis setup which is said to focus on sharper handling and a more connected riding feel especially in city conditions. On the hardware front, the Tracker 400 is equipped with 43 mm upside-down big piston forks at the front offering 140 mm of travel.

The rear gets a gas-charged monoshock with preload adjustability and the same travel. The setup is paired with dual-purpose tyres featuring a block-pattern tread. The motorcycle also boasts a torque-assist clutch, switchable traction control and dual-channel ABS system. Instrumentation is handled by a single-pod analogue speedometer which is supported by a digital tachometer.

triumph-tracker-400-2.jpg

Braking duties are managed by a four-piston radial calliper setup and details like neatly concealed wiring, precision-machined engine fins and high-quality paintwork are some of the other highlights. The Tracker 400 is offered in three colour options namely Racing Yellow, Phantom Black and Aluminium Silver Gloss, and each carrying sporty branding and race-inspired styling cues.

Commenting on the new launch, Manik Nangia, President, Probiking, Bajaj Auto, said: “The Speed 400, Scrambler 400 X, and the Thruxton have seen strong acceptance, expanding Triumph’s appeal to younger riders. Building on this momentum, the Tracker 400 introduces greater choice. With its stripped-back flat track attitude, it delivers more fun, more style, and a distinctly sportier ride.”

Tata Safari EV To Be Launched In Late 2026 – 500 Km Range & AWD

GaadiWaadi -

Tata Safari EV Rendering

Tata Motors may offer the Safari EV in a standard seven-seat version and a more comfort-focused six-seat version

Following the launch of the Sierra EV this summer, the Safari will remain the only SUV in the Tata Motors line-up to not be available in an electric variant. The company is working on a Safari EV as well, though, with plans to launch it in the fourth quarter of the year.

Set to compete with the Mahindra XEV 9S, which went on sale in January, the Tata Safari EV will be the second EV adapted from a JLR D8 platform-based model. Codenamed ‘Tata Tayrona,’ the three-row electric SUV will feature Tata Motors’ second-generation EV architecture, dubbed ‘acti.ev+’.

Tata Motors will likely offer the Safari EV in a single-motor RWD variant and a dual-motor AWD variant. The company should use a Schaeffler-made permanent magnet synchronous motor producing 175 kW (235 hp) and 304 Nm of torque on the rear axle in both variants.

Also Read: 5 Upcoming Tata Car Launches In 2026-27 In India

Tata Safari Petrol (1)
Tata Safari Petrol

In the dual-motor AWD variant, Tata Motors should add a Tata AutoComp-sourced motor that develops 116 kW (156 hp) and 164 Nm of torque. The rear motor will likely gain a boost function that can temporarily increase the torque to 340 Nm. With 291 kW (390 hp) of total power and up to 504 Nm (468 Nm as standard), a 0-100 km/h sprint may take less than 7 seconds.

In addition to the change in the drivetrain layout from FWD to a rear-biased one, another major upgrade should be with the suspension. Tata Motors may use a multi-link rear suspension with Frequency Dependent Dampers (FDD) instead of the regular Safari’s torsion beam for improved ride quality.

Tata Safari Petrol (2)

Customers may get a choice of 65 kWh and 75 kWh LFP battery packs in the Safari EV, although the former is highly unlikely to be offered in the dual-motor AWD variant. The 65 kWh LFP battery pack may deliver a range of around 500 kilometres in the single-motor RWD variant, while the 75 kWh LFP battery pack may allow travelling distances of around 600 kilometres in both single-motor RWD and dual-motor AWD variants. We expect the former to be chargeable at up to around 100 kW and the latter at up to around 120 kW.

Vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) bi-directional charging capabilities will likely be standard. Other additional features in the Safari EV may include a transparent chassis view function, Auto Park Assist (APA), UPI-based ‘DrivePay’ charging and FasTag payments, and Summon Mode.
