Next-Gen Hyundai i20 Teased With New Styling, Based On New Platform

Next-gen Hyundai i20 will be underpinned by a brand new platform and it will boast a redesigned exterior and interior

Hyundai’s next-gen i20 is shaping up to be a major overhaul. While the first official teaser from Brazil only reveals a portion of the sleeker front lighting signature, the premium hatchback is expected to move onto a new architecture paving the way for updated proportions, improved packaging and the potential introduction of hybrid technology in markets such as India.

With global testing already well underway, the launch of the fourth generation i20 appears to be drawing closer. One of the most significant developments is the expected platform upgrade. A new H-architecture would allow Hyundai to improve structural rigidity, cabin packaging and future powertrain compatibility.

It also creates room for electrification technologies that were not originally engineered into the outgoing model. Hyundai has already announced plans to introduce multiple hybrid vehicles across different segments by the end of the decade and the next-gen i20 could become one of the beneficiaries. The teaser image confirms a completely revised front end.

Hyundai has moved away from the oversized grille theme seen on the current model and appears to be using a more upright face. Visible elements include a full-width lighting bar, Y-shaped LED daytime running lamps and angular headlamp units featuring multiple projector elements. Spy shots from overseas testing suggest a rectangular grille positioned higher up on the bumper while a larger lower air intake and squared-off side housings will be available.

Test vehicles indicate a redesigned greenhouse with a more pronounced kink around the rear door section. While heavy camouflage has concealed several details, the overall silhouette appears slightly more mature and less flamboyant than the outgoing model. At the rear, Hyundai is expected to continue the connected lighting trend with a full-width light bar linking the tail lamps together – complemented by a sharply angled rear windscreen.

The cabin is set to receive one of the biggest upgrades. Test prototypes have revealed a curved display setup integrating the new digital instrument cluster and infotainment system into a single housing. Hyundai’s latest steering wheel design will also feature as well. Depending on the variant, the hatchback could also gain upgraded connected car technology, wireless smartphone integration, enhanced ADAS functions and a longer feature list.

Under the bonnet, global markets such as Brazil are expected to receive flex-fuel engine options including a turbocharged 1.0-litre unit. India is likely to retain the familiar 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol and 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engines. However, mild-hybrid assistance remains a strong possibility as Hyundai looks to improve fuel economy. With a global debut scheduled for next month, the next generation Hyundai i20 is expected to reach Indian showrooms a while later with a slightly tweaked design.

Tata Avinya EV To Be Based On Freelander Platform

GaadiWaadi -

Tata-Avinya-X-1.jpg

Tata Motors makes multiple revisions to the plans for the debut of the Avinya brand, including timeline, platform, and product launch cadence

Tata Motors has confirmed a major shift in platform strategy for its upcoming electric passenger vehicle brand – Avinya. The company appears to have cancelled plans to utilise JLR’s EMA dedicated EV platform for these premium electric cars.

According to a report from Autocar Professional, Tata Motors will build the first Avinya EV on Chery Jaguar Land Rover (CJLR)’s Intelligent Modular Architecture to X (iMax) platform that will debut in the production version of the Freelander 8. Unlike EMA, this platform supports not only EV but also PHEV and EREV applications.

The CJLR-developed platform is expected to lower costs and speed up the development of the first Avinya EV. Tata Motors initially planned to launch this model in 2025, but in December 2025, it announced that the project had been postponed to 2026. Now, the company has announced a further delay, stating 2027 as the new timeline.

While previously the plan was to launch the production version of the Avinya concept showcased in 2022 as the first Avinya EV, now the Avinya X concept introduced last year will be the first one to evolve into a production model. Codenamed ‘P2’, the production version of the Avinya X concept will likely be a 5-seat C-SUV featuring a coupe-style exterior. The second model may also not be the production version of the original Avinya concept, codenamed ‘P1’, but rather a three-row SUV.

Tata Motors has planned changes to the electronics, software, and vehicle systems to adapt CJLR’s platform for Avinya EVs and is already working on them with Tata Technologies. The company will likely use battery packs with energy storage capacities in the 65-80 kWh range in the final iteration of the Avinya X concept.

Production of the first Avinya EV will take place at Tata Motors’ new plant in Panapakkam, Tamil Nadu. Currently, the company assembles the Range Rover Evoque from imported knocked-down kits at this facility. The annual production capacity currently stands at approximately 30,000 units, which should comfortably handle production of the first Avinya EV. Before bringing the first Avinya EV to showrooms next year, Tata Motors will launch two EVs under its core Tata Motors brand this year: the Sierra.ev and Safari.ev.

New Mitsubishi Pajero 4×4 7-Seater SUV Teased Ahead Of Launch

GaadiWaadi -

New-Mitsubishi-Pajero-SUV-Teased-1.jpg

New Mitsubishi Pajero will be based on the same platform as the Triton and it will be equipped with multiple engine options

Five years after disappearing from global showrooms, the Mitsubishi Pajero is officially making a comeback. However, the biggest story is not the return of the nameplate itself but the engineering direction Mitsubishi has chosen for its next generation SUV. The all-new Pajero will abandon the integrated monocoque ladder frame approach used by its predecessors and return to a traditional ladder-frame architecture based on the latest Triton pickup.

The decision effectively takes the Pajero back to its roots. The first two generations of the SUV were built on ladder-frame underpinnings before Mitsubishi switched to an integrated chassis from the third generation onwards. While the setup delivered better on-road maneuvers, it also increased development costs. By utilising the Triton’s platform, Mitsubishi can share components, improve manufacturing efficiency and equip the Pajero with its latest off-road technologies.

Power is expected to come from the Triton’s 2.4-litre 4N16 four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine. Internationally, the unit is offered in single-turbo and twin-turbo forms producing 184 PS and 204 PS respectively. A six-speed automatic transmission is likely to be standard while Mitsubishi’s Super Select II four-wheel-drive system is expected to handle off-road duties. The combination should allow the Pajero to remain competitive against Toyota Fortuner, Ford Everest and Isuzu MU-X.

The company has confirmed that the Pajero will receive model-specific front and rear suspension systems along with a unique cabin. The objective is to retain strong off-road capability while delivering the level of ride comfort expected from a flagship SUV. The distinction will be important as Mitsubishi attempts to separate the Pajero from its pickup sibling.

The teaser image released by Mitsubishi also suggests a completely different design direction. The front fascia features a full-width LED light bar and a lighting signature that appears closer to latest Mitsubishi products such as the Xforce than the Triton. The styling points towards a more premium positioning too.

The arrival of the new Pajero also raises questions about the future of the Pajero Sport. The current third-gen Pajero Sport has been on sale since 2015 and is nearing the end of its lifecycle in several global markets. While Mitsubishi has not officially confirmed a replacement, the new Pajero’s ladder-frame architecture and seven-seater placement suggest it could eventually absorb the role currently played by the Pajero Sport.

Suzuki Records Highest Ever Monthly Sales In May 2026 – 1.10 Lakh+ Units

GaadiWaadi -

2026 Suzuki Burgman Street 125 1

Suzuki 2W India has posted its best ever sales in a month in May 2026 with the total domestic sales led by models like the Access 125

Suzuki Motorcycle India has achieved a significant milestone by recording its highest ever monthly sales performance in May 2026. The Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer’s Indian subsidiary sold a total of 1,32,244 units during the month – surpassing its previous monthly records and establishing its growing presence in both local and export markets.

The main highlight came from the domestic market where Suzuki dispatched 1,10,028 units in May 2026. The numbers show a 2 per cent increase over the 1,07,780 units sold during the corresponding month last year and indicate the highest monthly domestic sales volume ever recorded by the company courtesy of its 125 cc Access range leading the way.

It must be noted that Suzuki introduced the updated Burgman a few months ago. Exports also contributed positively to the overall performance. Suzuki shipped 22,216 units to international markets in May 2026 compared to 21,117 units during the same period last year with a 5 per cent increase on a Year on Year basis.

While vehicle sales reached new highs, Suzuki’s aftersales business also recorded a notable growth. Spare parts revenue increased by 14 per cent year-on-year to Rs. 95.36 crore during May 2026. Network expansion also played its part during the month as Suzuki entered the Union Territory of Ladakh with the inauguration of its first dealership in Leh.

The company also consolidated its footprint across North India by opening new dealerships in Ludhiana and Bhatinda in Punjab as well as Sirsa in Haryana. Beyond sales and network growth, Suzuki continued customer engagement initiatives through the Suzuki Moto Fest programme. Conducted across dealerships, the campaign allowed prospective customers to experience the company’s products and explore their features and performance firsthand.

Renault Bridger Patent Filed In India; Mini Duster?

Renault Bridger Patent

While Renault is basking in the success of the new Duster, the French automaker had earlier announced that they will launch a “mini-Duster” as well which will be a sub-4metre compact SUV. The vehicle will be the new Bridger and it will be positioned below the Duster and along side the Kiger to rival the likes of the Venue, Sonet, XUV 3XO, Syros, Brezza and Nexon. Since it’ll be a more rugged vehicle, it will also rival the Jimny and upcoming Mahindra Vision-S.

A design patent has been filed for the Renault Bridger. As seen from the image, the vehicle has a boxy and upright stance. It has slim headlamps with flared DRLs, a big grille, C-pillar mounted door handles, dual-tone wheels, front bumper garnish, etc. The vehicle is expected to get a tail-mounted spare wheel.

While the exact mechanical specs aren’t known yet, the vehicle is expected to get a 1.3-litre petrol hybrid powertrain and a new 1.2-litre petrol engine. Both manual and automatic options will be offered. There won’t be AWD on offer and the compact SUV will have a FWD configuration.

The Renault Bridger is expected to be launched in India in the second half of 2027.
