JSW Motors’ First Car To Debut By Diwali, 15 New Cars Arriving In 4 Years

GaadiWaadi -

JSW Motors is preparing a new energy vehicle-led passenger car entry and the rebranded Chery Jetour T2 could become its debut model

JSW Motors is set to enter the Indian passenger vehicle market later this year and the company will begin its car business with a new energy vehicle. The brand debut is expected during the festive period while bookings for the first model could open in November 2026. The debut product could be positioned above Rs. 35 lakh (ex-showroom).

Customer deliveries may begin towards the end of 2026 or in early 2027. Test prototypes already seen on public roads suggest that the first product programme has reached the final development stages. The rebranded Chery Jetour T2 could be the first model under the new JSW Motors passenger vehicle brand which also has a substantial share in MG Motors’ local operations.

The SUV fits the reported price band and product direction as it is available overseas with boxy off-road styling, electrified powertrain options and a five-seat cabin. The T2 sits in the lifestyle SUV space and internationally, it measures 4,785 mm in length and has a 2,800 mm wheelbase. The SUV has a tall, squared body, upright nose, heavy cladding, large wheel arches and a side-opening tailgate.

Jetour T2 (1)

The petrol version uses a 2.0-litre turbo engine in select markets while the T2 i-DM plug-in hybrid uses a 1.5-litre turbo petrol hybrid system with a 3-speed dedicated hybrid transmission. The plug-in hybrid version is the more relevant candidate for JSW Motors given its new energy vehicle plan. Overseas versions of the T2 i-DM have been listed with a 26.7 kWh battery, front-wheel-drive layout and fast charging from 30 to 80 per cent in around 30 minutes.

Some markets also quote more than 100 km of pure-electric running and up to 1,200 km combined range. The second product is expected to target a lower price band of around Rs. 18 lakh to Rs. 20 lakh. It could give JSW access to a larger set of customers after the higher priced entry product establishes the brand. Two to three more products are also likely within the first year.

Jetour T2 (2)

The larger plan encompasses 15 new energy vehicles across four years. The rollout cadence points to one product roughly every three months once the programme begins. The planned price spread is expected to start from around Rs. 10 lakh and move past Rs. 30 lakh and manufacturing will be centred at a 300-acre facility in Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra.

The plant will have an initial annual capacity of five lakh units before future scale-up. JSW Motors is also expected to build a supplier network around the site which should help with local parts sourcing, production planning and cost control. The term new energy vehicle gives the company flexibility beyond battery-electric cars alone. Electric vehicles are expected to be the main part of the plan but hybrid or other electrified formats could also be considered based on cost, market response and regulations.

Upcoming Tata Avinya Flagship e-SUV – More Details Revealed

GaadiWaadi -

Tata-Avinya-X-2.jpg

Tata Avinya range will sit at the top of the brand’s electric portfolio as the flagship offering and the models coming out of it will sit on Cherry-JLR Freelander EV platform

Tata Motors has revealed more information regarding the Avinya X, the first production model from its Avinya electric vehicle family. The flagship electric model will now use the Chery-JLR Freelander EV platform replacing the earlier plan to base the model on Jaguar Land Rover’s Electric Modified Architecture due to multiple reasons.

Shailesh Chandra, MD and CEO of Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, confirmed its presence during the recent Investor Day meeting. Tata had announced in 2023 that Avinya models would use JLR’s EMA platform but the production-bound Avinya X will now take the Freelander EV route. It gives Tata a more practical architecture for cost control and quicker development.

The EMA architecture was linked to a higher price band while Avinya has to sit in a space where local manufacturing and component sourcing will matter heavily. Tata is expected to localise a large share of the vehicle to reach the intended price positioning. Freelander is a familiar name from JLR’s past but the new EV platform comes through the Chery-JLR joint venture ecosystem.

The architecture is being prepared for electric SUVs and can be utilised for different market needs. For Tata, the benefit lies in access to an EV-ready platform without carrying the full cost structure of a JLR-only platform. The Avinya story began in 2022 when Tata revealed the first concept as a preview of its next generation EV direction.

The original show car had a long wheelbase, short overhangs, a lounge-style cabin, wide lighting elements and a body shape that combined SUV, crossover and MPV cues. The Avinya name has also pitched as a separate, higher-end electric family above the regular Tata.ev range. The Avinya X concept later moved the idea closer to a production SUV.

It kept the clean surfacing and EV exclusive proportions but used a more conventional high-riding body style. The production version is expected to become the first Avinya model for India with market entry planned around early 2027. Manufacturing is expected to take place at Tata’s recently acquired former Ford plant near Chennai.

Tata also wants a separate retail identity for Avinya. The company has spoken about boutique-style touchpoints and a phygital purchase format for the range. The plan points to a different sales and ownership setup from regular Tata.ev models with more focus on digital interaction and curated retail spaces. The company is also working on added capacity, new nameplates, electric models, updated ICE products and CNG vehicles through the second half of the decade.

GTA 6 Preorder Begins – Here Is The Indian Pricing & More Details

GaadiWaadi -

GTA-6-Preorder-India-1.jpg

Rockstar confirms GTA 6 pre-orders, Ultimate Edition, Vintage Vice City Pack and preload date ahead of the console launch on November 19

Rockstar Games has confirmed that the long-awaited Grand Theft Auto VI pre-orders will begin on June 25. The game is scheduled to launch on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S while PC release details have not been announced yet. India pricing has not been officially listed on console storefronts or Rockstar’s India-facing pages at the time of writing.

The standard edition has been priced at USD 79.99 in the US while the Ultimate Edition costs USD 99.99. Direct conversion puts them at around Rs. 6,700 and Rs. 8,400 before taxes, platform pricing and regional adjustments. Final India prices may land higher once PlayStation Store India, Xbox India and local retail listings go live.

The standard edition could sit around Rs. 6,999 to Rs. 7,499 while the Ultimate Edition could move closer to Rs. 8,999 to Rs. 9,499. These are estimates until official India pricing appears. Digital buyers will get access to preloading from November 12 – one week before launch. The physical version will also be available from November 12 but the retail box will carry a download code inside instead of a disc.

GTA-6-Preorder-India-2.jpg

Players buying the boxed copy can therefore start the download before release day. Grand Theft Auto VI has been listed as a single-player title for now. Rockstar has not detailed the next GTA Online plan yet, so online timing, structure and account-related details are still pending. The story follows Jason and Lucia across Leonida, Rockstar’s fictional take on Florida with Vice City returning as the main city.

Rockstar will sell the standard version and Grand Theft Auto VI: Ultimate Edition through pre-orders. The Ultimate Edition gets a set of vehicles, weapons, apparel and story-linked items tied to Jason and Lucia. The complete edition wise content list for every region is still waiting for a full storefront breakdown. Every pre-order and every purchase made before November 20 will get the Vintage Vice City Pack.

GTA-6-Preorder-India.jpg

The bonus pack is described as a throwback to the older neon-heavy Vice City era. Rockstar has not listed every item in the pack yet so more details should arrive through storefront pages or another official update. The new pre-order schedule follows multiple release-window changes. GTA 6 was first planned for 2025 before moving to May 26. Rockstar later shifted the date to November 19 which is now the official console release date.

Leonida has been shown through beaches, highways, dense city blocks, nightclubs, swamps, smaller towns and police activity across the first two trailers. Trailer footage has also shown vehicle sequences, social-media-style clips, robberies and story moments centred on Jason and Lucia. Rockstar has not released a gameplay deep dive yet too.

Map size, file size, frame-rate targets, console graphics modes, PC timing, GTA Online details, India pricing and final edition contents are still awaiting official confirmation. The June 25 pre-order rollout should reveal regional prices, download requirements and storefront listings for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Norton Atlas and Atlas GT use a 585 cc parallel-twin engine and are underpinned by a steel trellis frame; comes with features like an 8-inch TFT and six-axis IMU

Norton Motorcycles has rolled out the first Atlas from TVS Motor Company’s Hosur manufacturing plant in Tamil Nadu. The new middleweight motorcycle range will make its global debut in July and sales in the domestic market are scheduled to begin later this year. The Atlas harbingers Norton’s entry into the middleweight adventure touring space under TVS ownership.

Development work took place at Norton’s Solihull headquarters in the United Kingdom while production for the new model has now started in India. The range has two versions: Atlas and Atlas GT. Both motorcycles use the same 585 cc liquid-cooled DOHC parallel-twin engine. The motor has a 270-degree crankshaft, ride-by-wire throttle, multi-point fuel injection and atmospheric plasma spray-coated cylinder surfaces. Output stands at 69 bhp at 9,300 rpm and 57.5 Nm at 7,300 rpm.

Transmission duties are handled by a six-speed gearbox. Norton has also equipped the Atlas range with a bi-directional quickshifter and an assist-and-slipper clutch. Claimed fuel efficiency is rated at 23 kmpl while service intervals are set at 10,000 km. The engine sits inside a steel trellis frame and works as a stressed member while the rear section uses a cast aluminium swingarm.

The Atlas has a 15.4-litre fuel tank, 845 mm seat height, 220 mm ground clearance and 1,465 mm wheelbase. In addition, the wet weight without fuel is listed at 188 kg for the Atlas and 192 kg for the Atlas GT. The standard Atlas is set up for mixed-surface use. It runs a 19-inch front wheel and 17-inch rear wheel wrapped in Eurogrip Explo R Plus tyres. The fully adjustable KYB suspension uses 43 mm upside-down front forks and a rear monoshock – both rated for 180 mm travel.

The Atlas GT appears to be tuned for tarmac use. It gets 17-inch wheels at both ends and 140 mm suspension travel at the front and rear. Compression, rebound and preload can be adjusted and the rear shock also gets hydraulic preload adjustment. Braking hardware is shared between the two variants. Twin 310 mm semi-floating discs at the front work with radially mounted ByBre calipers while the rear uses a 270 mm disc.

Bosch six-axis IMU support gives the motorcycles lean-sensitive ABS, cornering traction control, wheelie control, rear slide control and cornering cruise control. Both motorcycles get an 8-inch full-colour touchscreen TFT display with 720p resolution. The console supports Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, turn-by-turn navigation, ride telemetry, GoPro control, over-the-air software updates and Norton Rider app pairing.

The rider modes available in the Norton duo are Urban, Rain, Sport, Tour and Enduro. Other key equipment are keyless ignition, USB-C charging, multimedia controls and cruise control. The lighting package uses LEDs all around, with twin-projector headlamps, signature daytime running lamps, integrated handguard indicators and multifunction rear lighting. Norton will back the Atlas range with a 36-month warranty package and roadside assistance support.

Seven ride formats have been planned around art, culture, photography, heritage routes, riverside trails, monastery circuits, hot springs, coffee trails and high-altitude passes. The Triple Pass Expedition will cover Khardung La at 17,582 feet, Wari La and Tanglang La at 17,480 feet across three days.

Royal Enfield will also set up slower-paced sessions at the venue for recovery and community interaction. The Endurance and Recovery Collective, Moto Yoga, fireside conversations, Explorers Tent, Ladakhi food sessions, local cooking and acoustic music will form the evening side of the Basecamp. The ride to Ladakh can also begin much before the event. Royal Enfield will organise guided rides from 24 cities across India, giving participants the option to turn the journey to Leh into part of the three-day programme.

GaadiWaadi -

skoda-peaq.jpg

Skoda Peaq becomes the brand’s largest electric SUV, using a 91 kWh battery, three powertrain choices and seven-seat cabin layout

Skoda has unveiled the Peaq as its new electric flagship and the SUV sits at the top of the brand’s EV range with a seven-seat layout, all-wheel-drive option, over 600 km of WLTP range and several new features never seen before on a Skoda model. The Peaq measures 4,874 mm in length and gets a 2,965 mm wheelbase. The larger footprint gives it three-row seating and 299 litres of boot space even when all seats are in use.

Folding the third row expands luggage capacity to 935 litres while a 37-litre frunk adds storage space under the bonnet. Cabin storage stands at 33 litres across multiple compartments. Skoda has also fitted the Peaq with its biggest panoramic roof yet measuring 2.1 square metres. The glass roof uses Dynamic Shade Control allowing occupants to alter tinting and light entry electronically.

Skoda has also noted that vegan seat upholstery will be offered from launch and leather upholstery will join the range later. The dashboard gets a portrait-style 13.6-inch infotainment screen running an Android-based operating system. Skoda has kept physical controls for climate settings, ventilation, hazard lights, door locks and media volume. The new interface also enables access to more third-party applications.

skoda-peaq-interior.jpg

The optional Relax Package turns the cabin into a lounge-style space. The pack brings AGR-certified seats, massage function, ergonomic leg rests, Sound by Sonos audio and a wellbeing application. The Sonos system uses 16 speakers, an A2B amplifier and a dual subwoofer placed inside an 18-litre enclosure as the total output stands at 755 W.

Peaq also debuts flush door handles for Skoda and they extend automatically when the vehicle is unlocked and can also be operated manually. Skoda says the mechanism has a provision for easier use in icy conditions. Other debut features comprise windscreen wipers with integrated washer nozzles, wireless phone charging with magnetic alignment, Top Area View 360-degree parking assistant and a new heat pump.

skoda-peaq.-1.jpg

The exterior of the Skoda Peaq follows the latest Modern Solid design language with the front end carries a Tech-Deck Face, T-shaped headlamps and a glossy black strip linking the lower lighting sections. The rear repeats the T-shaped lighting theme and Skoda has also used clean body panels, active cooling shutters, aero-focused mirror housings, wheel covers and a rear diffuser to reduce drag.

Resultantly, the drag coefficient is rated below 0.25. Wheel sizes range from 19 inches to 21 inches and the aero covers are shaped to reduce turbulence. Air Curtain ducts are placed closer to the centre of the front bumper while a roof-mounted spoiler follows the sloping roofline at the rear. Three powertrain versions will be offered in the international markets to enable an expansive range.

skoda-peaq-interior.jpg

The Peaq 60 uses a 63 kWh battery pack with 59 kWh net capacity. Its rear-mounted electric motor produces 150 kW allowing a 0 to 100 kmph time of 8.6 seconds and a top speed of 160 kmph. The claimed WLTP range stands at up to 440 km while 10 to 80 per cent charging takes 27 minutes. The Peaq 90 moves to a 91 kWh battery pack with 86 kWh usable capacity.

Its rear motor produces 210 kW and helps the SUV accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 7.1 seconds. Top speed rises to 180 kmph and claimed WLTP range goes past 630 km. The same battery can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in 28 minutes. The Peaq 90x, on the other hand, sits at the top of the range with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup.

Combined output stands at 220 kW while 0 to 100 kmph takes 6.7 seconds. Top speed stays at 180 kmph and the claimed WLTP range stands at up to 605 km. It must be noted that the 91 kWh battery is the biggest pack fitted to any Skoda so far. The electric SUV also gets V2L, V2H and V2G capability when paired with a Moon Power wallbox.

Rear-wheel-drive versions can tow up to 1.8 tonnes with a braked trailer while all-wheel-drive variants raise the figure to 2 tonnes. The unbraked trailer limit is 750 kg. Selecting B mode enables one-pedal driving function – providing the SUV to stop using regenerative braking alone. Sportline trim will be available from launch too with exterior enhancements compared to the regular model.

The variant gets gloss black exterior details, black badging, optional black roof, Top LED Matrix headlamps, illuminated Light Band and a black Sportline Lounge cabin. Sports seats with integrated headrests and a three-spoke steering wheel are also part of the Sportline specification. Safety equipment covers ten airbags, Front Assist, Crossroad Assist, Turn Assist, Lane Assist, Side Assist, Rear Traffic Alert, Exit Warning and Predictive Cruise Control.

Travel Assist 3.0 will be optional and can recognise traffic-light signals. Top Area View 360-degree parking assistant will give the driver a full view around the SUV during tight maneuvers. The Peaq will be offered with four cabin themes and Skoda is expected to release market-wise pricing and delivery timelines closer to launch.

Maruti Suzuki, Mahindra & Tata Motors Assess UK EV Export

Tata Harrier EV

Indian passenger vehicle manufacturers are exploring opportunities to expand their electric vehicle exports to the United Kingdom following the signing of the India-UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA), which introduces a phased framework for duty-free vehicle shipments between the two countries.

The agreement, scheduled to take effect from July 15, outlines provisions that will allow electric, hybrid and hydrogen-powered passenger vehicles manufactured in India to enter the UK market without import duties under a quota-based system. These benefits will begin from the sixth year of the agreement and will be gradually expanded over time.

The FTA categorises eligible vehicles into different price segments, ranging from models priced below £20,000 to those costing up to £80,000. Vehicles priced above this threshold will not qualify for duty concessions under the agreement.

Automakers including Maruti Suzuki, Mahindra and Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles have welcomed the development, viewing it as a potential avenue to strengthen India’s position as a global manufacturing hub for electrified vehicles. However, all three companies indicated that any expansion plans would depend on market evaluation and long-term business considerations.

Mahindra stated that the agreement could create fresh opportunities for EVs produced in India, particularly in right-hand-drive export markets such as the UK. The company said it would assess market conditions and incorporate the opportunity into its broader international growth strategy.

Maruti Suzuki highlighted India’s growing competitiveness in vehicle manufacturing and pointed to the export performance of its upcoming eVITARA electric SUV. The company expects the UK to emerge as an important overseas market as it expands its EV footprint across Europe.

Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles said the phased and quota-linked structure of the agreement provides a balanced approach that encourages exports while allowing domestic manufacturers time to remain globally competitive. The company added that the framework could support the wider adoption of sustainable mobility solutions developed and produced in India.

Under the agreed roadmap, duty-free quotas for eligible vehicles will start at 17,600 units annually in the sixth year and increase progressively to 88,000 units per year by the fifteenth year. The allocation will be distributed across multiple vehicle price bands.

The agreement could strengthen bilateral automotive trade while providing Indian manufacturers with greater access to one of Europe’s major right-hand-drive vehicle markets. The FTA is also expected to contribute to the broader objective of increasing trade between India and the UK, with both nations aiming to significantly expand economic engagement over the coming years.
