The second batch of Skoda Octavia RS will be limited to just 50 units – half of what the first allotment featured; bookings open and deliveries to begin this festive season

As Skoda entered a quarter century in India, the Octavia RS was launched as via CBU channel to celebrate the occasion late last year. Priced at Rs. 49.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the performance sedan was sold out within just 20 minutes of commencement of pre-bookings and it was limited to just 100 units reiterating the good reception for the nameplate.

The Octavia RS has a special place in Skoda’s Indian legacy. The original model, introduced in 2004, was the country’s first turbocharged petrol car and quickly became an enthusiast’s favourite. During the announcement for the Kodiaq RS, Skoda confirmed preparations for bringing in the second batch of Octavia RS earlier this year.

Yesterday, the brand introduced the facelifted Slavia with exterior and interior updates while confirming plans for the Superb diesel next year. At the same event, the second batch and allotment for the Octavia RS was also divulged. This time around, it will be limited to just 50 units and it will be launched in the coming months ahead of the start of customer deliveries this festive season.

The model gets a 2.0-litre TSI turbo petrol engine kicking out 265 PS and 370 Nm. The sedan can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 6.4 seconds while its electronically restricted top speed stands at 250 kmph. The chassis has been configured around the RS’s high output powertrain featuring sports suspension and progressive steering. Skoda has also given it a set of 19-inch Elias anthracite alloy wheels wrapped in 225/40 R19 tyres.

The combination is coupled with RS-specific exterior detailing, glossy black elements, full-LED Matrix headlamps and LED tail-lamps featuring dynamic indicators. The Octavia RS measures 4,709 mm in length, 1,829 mm in width, and 1,457 mm in height. Its 600-litre boot can be expanded to 1,555 litres. The exterior colour palette consists of Mamba Green, Candy White, Race Blue, Magic Black and Velvet Red.

On the inside, the Skoda Octavia RS gets an 11-speaker Canton audio system, Suedia and leather upholstery, red contrast stitching and sports seats. The front seats feature electric adjustment, memory, heating, and massage functions. Ambient lighting and a digital Virtual Cockpit add to the cabin specification. The dashboard houses a 32.77 cm infotainment system featuring wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.

Three-zone climate control and wireless smartphone charging are also part of the equipment list while a Head-Up Display provides additional driving info. The safety package comprises 10 airbags, a 360-degree camera, ISOFIX mounts and advanced stability systems. Skoda’s ADAS package involves Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Assist, Autonomous Emergency Braking and Intelligent Park Assist.
