2026 Toyota Hilux Set To Launch In India On July 28

970x250 Range Rover Velar

2026 Toyota Hilux

Toyota is set to launch the ninth-generation Hilux in India on July 28, around eight months after the pickup truck made its global debut. The updated model is expected to bring revised styling, a refreshed cabin and additional features while retaining its body-on-frame construction.

The new Hilux is expected to continue using Toyota’s IMV platform, which also underpins the outgoing model. While the overall proportions are likely to remain familiar, the pickup is expected to receive a redesigned front fascia featuring a body-coloured honeycomb grille, slimmer LED headlamps, a revised bumper and a skid plate. Changes at the rear are expected to include updated LED tail-lamps, a revised bumper and, on some variants, ‘Toyota’ lettering replacing the traditional badge.

Inside, the ninth-generation Hilux is expected to feature a redesigned dashboard with dual 12.3-inch displays, a new steering wheel and a revised centre console. Toyota is also expected to retain physical controls for key functions. Depending on the variant, the pickup could be equipped with features such as a 360-degree camera, ventilated and powered front seats, and an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS).

Under the bonnet, the India-spec Hilux is likely to continue with the existing 2.8-litre four-cylinder diesel engine producing 204 HP and 500 Nm of torque. Transmission options are expected to include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox, with four-wheel drive continuing to be offered. Toyota could also introduce the 48V mild-hybrid system already available on the Fortuner Neo Drive, although this has not been confirmed.

Globally, Toyota has also unveiled an all-electric Hilux featuring a 59.2 kWh battery pack and a dual-motor setup. However, there is no confirmation yet on whether the electric version will be introduced in the Indian market.

The updated Hilux is expected to be priced higher than the outgoing model, which is currently available at an ex-showroom price of Rs. 28.52 lakhs to Rs. 36 lakhs.

The volume sales in the luxury car space in the first half of 2026 saw a total of 26,688 units enabling an increase of 4 per cent over the corresponding period last year according to Vahan data. The figures show BMW Group India retaining the top position ahead of Mercedes-Benz India while Land Rover India continued to hold third place.

Audi, Volvo and Lexus ended the six-month period in positive territory whereas brands including Porsche recorded declines compared to H1 2025. The company posted 15 per cent year-on-year growth and accounted for 38 per cent of the total luxury vehicle market.

JSW MG Motor Confirms Launching 2 New EVs & 1 PHEV This FY In India

GaadiWaadi -

Wuling Starlight 560

MG says two electric vehicles and one plug-in hybrid are on the way on the back of Windsor crossing 75,000 sales in less than two years

JSW MG Motor India has confirmed an expansion of its New Energy Vehicle portfolio by announcing that two new electric vehicles and one plug-in hybrid vehicle will be launched during the current financial year. The announcement came alongside another significant milestone for the MG Windsor which has crossed 75,000 unit sales in less than two years since entering the market.

The electric crossover has also sold more than 19,000 units during the first half of CY2026. The forthcoming plug-in hybrid SUV will become MG’s first locally launched PHEV in India and is scheduled to arrive on July 16, 2026. The model is expected to draw heavily from the Wuling Starlight 560 sold overseas.

As opposed to conventional strong hybrids, the SUV combines a petrol engine with a substantially larger battery pack. It enables noticeable pure-electric driving before the petrol engine comes into operation. Internationally, the Starlight 560 is offered with a modern plug-in hybrid system pairing a 1.5L NA Atkinson Cycle petrol engine with an electric motor and a 20.5 kWh LFP high capacity battery.

It has a combined power output of 197 bhp and 230 Nm of torque. The PHEV version accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in 9.7 seconds and the EV-only range stands at over 100 km. It is capable of covering daily commutes in EV mode while also delivering the flexibility of long touring without depending on charging infrastructure. The platform also supports a pure battery electric derivative opening the possibility of another future addition to MG’s Indian portfolio.

Having also been spotted testing, it comes with a 56.7 kWh battery pack offering a range of up to 530 km in the CLTC cycle and it delivers 134 bhp and 200 Nm. While the company has not officially confirmed the electric version, the existence of both BEV and PHEV configurations gives MG greater flexibility as customer preferences continue to grow. Further insight into MG’s technology roadmap will emerge during the company’s MG Tech Day global presentation later today.

Another highlight will be the introduction of MG’s Solidcore battery technology which the company says is ready for mass production.

Mercedes-Benz-H1-2026-Sales-India.jpg

Top-end luxury models account for a record 28 per cent of sales as Mercedes-AMG volumes jump 50 per cent in the first half of 2026

Mercedes-Benz has registered its highest ever first half sales performance in India by retailing 9,768 units between January and June 2026. The luxury carmaker recorded 9 per cent year-on-year growth over H1 2025 while also delivering its best ever second quarter with 4,637 units with a 10 per cent increase. The company says volumes remained healthy across its portfolio and expects the positive momentum to carry forward into the second half of the year.

One of the biggest contributors to the record performance came from the top-end luxury portfolio. Vehicles in this category accounted for 28 per cent of total sales during H1 2026, the highest share achieved by Mercedes-Benz India so far. The segment expanded by more than 20 per cent supported by healthy volumes for the S-Class, Mercedes-Maybach range, Mercedes-AMG models and the recently introduced V-Class luxury MPV.

The performance division also delivered a notable result. Mercedes-AMG sales climbed 50 per cent during the first six months of 2026. The German company also highlighted good customer response to the new V-Class which has opened an entirely new product space within the luxury MPV segment. Bookings for the V-Class will reopen this month while customer deliveries are scheduled to commence in the festive season.

Battery electric vehicles continued to consolidate their contribution as well. Mercedes-Benz said BEV penetration doubled to 14 per cent of its total sales during the second quarter of 2026. The recently launched CLA BEV emerged as a major contributor behind the increase alongside the EQS SUV which currently stands as the company’s best-selling luxury electric SUV in India.

The long-wheelbase E-Class retained its position as Mercedes-Benz India’s highest-selling luxury sedan. According to the company, sales demand remained particularly high for the E 450 variant helping the executive sedan maintain its leadership within the segment despite growing competition from SUVs.
