Next Gen Hyundai Creta To Launch In 2027 – Hybrid Engine, New Design And Features

GaadiWaadi -

new-gen-hyundai-creta-spied-india.jpg

Biggest transformation for Hyundai’s best-selling car in our market since its arrival in showrooms a decade scheduled for next year

With more than 20 lakh units sold since its launch in July 2015, the Hyundai Creta is the benchmark for success in India’s so-called mid-size SUV segment. The best-selling Hyundai in India is in its second generation and will be moving to its third generation in 2027.

The next-gen Hyundai Creta will be radically different from the first two iterations in terms of both design and engineering. Built on an entirely new platform called ‘K3’, it will likely be bigger in every dimension, offering more space and practicality and a much stronger road presence. We expect greater use of high-strength steel in the redesigned model, providing a noticeable improvement in body rigidity.

Besides confirming a substantial increase in length, spy shots have revealed the next-gen Hyundai Creta will have a futuristic and aggressive exterior inspired by the Hyundai Crater Concept unveiled at the 2025 LA Auto Show. Sleeker lighting, a higher and flatter hood, more muscular wheel arches, and sharper character lines should be among the key exterior changes.

Hyundai will revamp the interior as well, adopting a whole new layout in line with its recent global models such as the Ioniq 3, all-new Elantra, and new Grandeur. Spy shots have shown a slimmer and more horizontal-looking dashboard with a 9.9-inch digital instrument cluster atop it and a free-standing 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, both running Android Automotive OS.

The next-gen Creta will likely come with features such as flush-fitted door handles, smart tailgate, power driver’s seat with power lumbar support, one-touch zero-gravity position, memory, and ventilation functions, power front passenger seat with a ventilation function, and Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems.

Hyundai will likely offer the next-gen Creta in petrol, CNG, and hybrid variants, all with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine under the hood, as well as a pure electric variant. Since the company has no plans to offer a diesel engine in the next-gen Bayon arriving by next month, it appears to be planning to phase out the existing 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine of the second-gen Creta without upgrading it for stricter emission norms expected in the future or introducing a new one.

The next-gen Hyundai Creta will likely go on sale in India in mid-2027. Expect it to cost somewhere around Rs. 11.25 lakh (ex-showroom) in the base trim.

Toyota innova hycross facelift (1)

From Maruti’s first electric MPV to the updated Fronx and Baleno, here’s everything expected to arrive over the next 6-12 months

Maruti Suzuki and Toyota are preparing for a busy product offensive over the coming year. While Maruti is looking to strengthen its position in both the EV and premium hatchback segments, Toyota is working on updating one of its most successful MPVs. Some of these models have already been spotted testing, while others are expected to debut over the next few months. Here’s a closer look at the four upcoming launches that could attract plenty of attention.

1. Maruti Electric MPV

Maruti Suzuki’s electric plans won’t stop with the e-Vitara. The company is also developing an all-electric MPV, internally believed to be codenamed YMC, which is expected to arrive in 2027. The electric MPV will likely use Suzuki’s Heartect-e platform, with battery packs likely to range between 50 kWh and 60 kWh. With the higher pack, we could expect a claimed range of 500 km. We can also expect features like a large touchscreen, connected car technology, wireless smartphone connectivity, Level 2 ADAS on higher variants and a practical three-row cabin. Pricing could begin around Rs 16-18 lakh.

The Fronx facelift will debut on September 5, 2026. The Fronx facelift is likely to carry Suzuki’s new in-house strong-hybrid system, paired with the familiar 1.2-litre Z-Series petrol engine. Needless to say, the fuel efficiency will be quite high on this one. The existing 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo-petrol will still be on offer, although Maruti is yet to officially confirm the final powertrain lineup. Expect features such as a larger infotainment screen, a 360-degree camera, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, ventilated seats and six airbags across more variants.

3. Next-Generation Maruti Baleno

The next-generation Baleno is expected to arrive sometime in 2027, bringing the biggest overhaul to Maruti’s premium hatchback since the current generation was introduced. There will be changes to the design as well, and we could see cues from the global markets being implemented. Inside, we can expect a completely redesigned dashboard, larger infotainment system, fully digital instrument cluster, panoramic camera system and an expanded ADAS package on higher trims. Powertrain updates are likely to mirror the Fronx facelift.

4. Toyota Innova Hycross Facelift

The Toyota Innova Hycross facelift is expected to arrive in 2027. The facelift is expected to receive a redesigned front fascia with updated LED lighting, revised bumpers, new alloy wheels and minor changes at the rear. Inside, Toyota could introduce a larger infotainment system, upgraded upholstery, additional connected car features and further improvements to ADAS.

Mechanically, the Hycross is expected to remain unchanged. Buyers should continue to get the 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and the 2.0-litre strong-hybrid powertrain, with the latter producing a combined 186 PS while delivering a claimed fuel efficiency of 23.24 kmpl. An e-CVT gearbox will continue to handle transmission duties on the hybrid model.
