Hyundai recorded 54,396 units in August 2026 – up 24 per cent YoY with Venue, Exter, Aura, Grand i10 and i20 posting double digit gains in India

Hyundai posted 54,396 units in August 2026 as its volume numbers were up 24 per cent from 44,001 units in the same month last year. Compared with 54,210 units in July 2026, the total edged up by 0.3 per cent. The Creta led the brand’s model-wise chart with 16,288 units and the Venue, Exter, Aura, Grand i10 and i20 posted double digit YoY growth during the month.

The Creta occupied first place with 16,288 units against 15,924 units in August 2025 resulting in 2 per cent YoY growth. The midsize SUV, however, finished below its July tally of 18,088 units with MoM sales down 10 per cent. Despite the monthly drop, the Creta still accounted for the highest volume in Hyundai’s August lineup by a substantial margin.

The Venue finished second with 11,365 units – up 40 per cent from 8,109 units a year earlier. Its monthly tally also moved up 2 per cent from 11,095 units in July. The Exter ranked third with 8,157 units and recorded the highest YoY increase among Hyundai’s mainstream models at 61 per cent. It also posted 20 per cent MoM growth from 6,810 units.

The Aura secured fourth place with 6,685 units compared with 5,336 units in August 2025 which resulted in a. 25 per cent YoY growth. Against July’s 5,817 units, the compact sedan improved by 15 per cent. The Grand i10 came next with 5,342 units – up 37 per cent YoY from 3,908 units and 32 per cent MoM from 4,055 units – one of the largest monthly increases in the table.

The i20 recorded 5,165 units in August as it saw an increase of 42 per cent from 3,634 units during the same month last year. Its monthly numbers moved in the opposite direction – dropping 23 per cent from 6,738 units in July. The Alcazar recorded 856 units against 1,187 units in August 2025 with a 28 per cent YoY decline while MoM sales also lower by 1 per cent.

The Verna ended the month with 529 units – down 31 per cent YoY from 771 units and 28 per cent MoM from 737 units. The Ioniq 5 posted just nine units as its figures dropped 36 per cent from 14 units in August 2025 but up 13 per cent from eight units in July.

Hyundai Plans New EV, Next-Gen Creta & More – 26 New Launches By 2030

Hyundai will add an India-specific electric SUV later this year, another midsize SUV and several new models as its local lineup is all prepared to be expanded

Hyundai has devised 26 new launches and major updates for India over the next 4 years with the product cycle composing electric, hybrid and conventional powertrains. The plan includes an India-specific electric SUV this festive season, another midsize SUV with ICE engines and the next generation Creta which is already under development. Hyundai will also expand local production and sourcing as more products are in line to enter its Indian lineup.

The India-specific electric SUV will become one of the earliest launches from this plan when it arrives later this year. Hyundai has developed the model specifically for the local market and will position it in a high volume segment. The SUV will feature the company’s next-gen Pleos-based infotainment technology along with Level 2 assisted driving functions. Speculations suggest two battery pack options and a claimed range of more than 500 km.

The fourth generation Creta is another model under development and could introduce Hyundai’s first full-hybrid powertrain in India. The five-seat midsize SUV is expected early next year with rumours pointing to a strong hybrid option alongside conventional engines. Hyundai is also expected to add the all-new Bayon to its Indian range soon as well with the crossover positioned between the Venue and Creta.

The brand’s local plans sit within a global schedule encompassing more than 100 launches and updates over the same period. The international powertrain combination will include battery electric vehicles, hybrids and extended-range electric vehicles. Hyundai plans to introduce its first global EREV in the first half of 2027. The domestic production capacity will also increase as the new models arrive.

The Korean auto major currently has annual capacity of around 11 lakh vehicles in India and plans to add another 3.20 lakh units by 2030. The increased number of launches will help address more segments and will aid in garnering more volume sales in the coming years as the next-gen Grand i10 Nios is also in the works. The company has also set a 90 per cent local sourcing target for the end of the decade.

Its Indian supplier network currently includes more than 1,400 companies and the local engineering workforce exceeds 900 people. India will continue to serve as one of Hyundai’s export bases supplying vehicles to markets across the Middle East, Africa, Asia and South America. Exports are expected to account for around 30 per cent of Indian production by 2030.

Mahindra Readies Multiple New SUVs For India – Here’s What’s Coming Soon!

Mahindra has a refreshed three-door Thar, a new NU_IQ based SUV, BE 07 and Vision T electric off-roader lined up over the next 2 years

Mahindra has multiple new SUVs scheduled for India over the next couple of years. The product cycle includes an extensive update for the three-door Thar, a production SUV derived from the Vision S concept, the BE 07 and an electric off-roader inspired by the Vision T. The recently unveiled Scorpio Lifestyler is also set to arrive next year and more compact SUVs based on the NU_IQ architecture could join the lineup later.

The Vision S-based SUV should become the first all-new model from this group with its launch expected in early 2027. Positioned between the XUV 3XO and Scorpio N, the SUV will sit on Mahindra’s NU_IQ architecture. The production version should retain the concept’s upright proportions and tall stance. Its engine lineup could include turbo petrol and diesel options already available with the XUV 3XO while an electric variant can’t be ruled out.

The three-door Thar will take a different route as Mahindra plans a substantial update for the existing generation. Test prototypes have already been spotted on Indian roads with design revisions influenced by the five-door Thar Roxx. Changes could include revised lighting elements and a redesigned bumpers.

The cabin could also gain a larger touchscreen infotainment system and additional equipment already available on the Roxx. Mahindra will expand its born-electric lineup through the BE 07 which will sit above the BE 6. The larger electric SUV will rely on the INGLO skateboard architecture and could carry a bigger battery pack than its smaller sibling with a range of well over 500 km in real world scenarios.

The cabin is expected to house three 12.3-inch displays and equipment could include Level 2 ADAS and bi-directional charging. Another electric SUV is expected in 2028 with design inspiration from the Vision T concept. The production model could use an upright profile and place greater emphasis on off-road capability than Mahindra’s other born-electric SUVs.

Exterior elements inspired by the Thar Roxx could also feature. A dual-motor electric setup is expected to provide an AWD configuration. The Scorpio Lifestyler is another upcoming product scheduled to reach the market next year. Mahindra recently unveiled the production model as an extension of the Scorpio nameplate into another body style.

2026 Maruti Baleno Facelift Launched, Priced From Rs. 6.10 Lakhs

Maruti Suzuki has introduced the updated Baleno at a starting price of Rs. 6.10 lakhs (ex-showroom). The 2026 facelift brings changes to the hatchback’s exterior and equipment list, along with a new petrol engine and the addition of Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).

The Baleno continues to occupy the premium hatchback space in Maruti Suzuki’s line-up and rivals models such as the Tata Altroz, Hyundai i20 and Toyota Glanza.

2026 Maruti Baleno: new engine options

One of the more significant changes is under the bonnet. The facelift replaces the outgoing 1.2-litre, four-cylinder K12N petrol engine with Maruti Suzuki’s Z12E 1.2-litre, three-cylinder naturally aspirated unit.

The new engine produces 83 HP and 112 Nm and is available with either a 5-speed manual or 5-speed AMT. While the peak figures are lower than the previous engine’s 90 HP and 113 Nm, Maruti Suzuki says the new unit has been calibrated to offer improved torque delivery at lower engine speeds.

The factory-fitted CNG version continues to be offered. In CNG operation, the engine develops 70 HP and 102 Nm and is paired exclusively with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

2026 Maruti Baleno: exterior changes

The facelift brings relatively limited visual changes, with most of them concentrated at the front. The grille has been enlarged and incorporates the radar hardware required for the new ADAS functions. The Suzuki badge has been repositioned above the grille.

A redesigned front bumper accompanies the larger grille, while the LED fog lamps have also received a new design. Other additions include chrome detailing on the front fenders and a shark-fin antenna.

The LED headlamps, three-piece DRL design, 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels and rear lamp units remain largely unchanged.

2026 Maruti Baleno: cabin and equipment

Inside, the overall dashboard layout remains familiar. The Baleno continues with its layered dashboard design and a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It retains analogue instrument dials with a colour multi-information display, rather than switching to a fully digital driver display.

The existing flat-bottom steering wheel, physical climate-control switches and head-up display have also been carried over.

Among the additions are a cooled wireless smartphone charger, a Clarion-branded audio system and ventilated front seats. The facelift continues to miss some features found in certain rivals and higher-priced hatchbacks, including a sunroof and rear centre armrest.

2026 Maruti Baleno: safety and ADAS

The biggest equipment upgrade is the introduction of Level 2 ADAS. The system adds functions such as adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assistance, automatic emergency braking and high-beam assistance.

The Baleno also gains a tyre-pressure monitoring system. Six airbags are standard across the range, while ABS with EBD and a 360-degree camera are among the other safety equipment available.

Maruti Suzuki is yet to reveal the complete variant-wise pricing for the facelifted Baleno. More details on the trim-specific equipment and prices are expected to follow.

New Hyundai Bayon Interior Spied: Dual-Tone Cabin And 360-Degree Camera Revealed

The upcoming Hyundai SUV is expected to sit between the Venue and Creta, with a more spacious cabin and petrol-CNG powertrain options

Hyundai’s upcoming Bayon-based SUV has been spotted once again, this time revealing the cabin in much greater detail. Internally codenamed BC4i, the new SUV is expected to sit between the Venue and Creta and could become Hyundai’s answer to the likes of the Maruti Victoris. The latest spy shots suggest that development is now well advanced, with production-ready test vehicles already running on Indian roads.

The cabin follows a fairly minimalist theme, with the latest test car featuring a dual-tone black-and-white interior. The dashboard appears to have a flat upper section, while the steering wheel looks similar to the one seen on the new Venue and gets Hyundai’s latest four-dot logo treatment. The biggest visual highlight is the pair of integrated screens, with one serving as the digital instrument cluster and the other handling infotainment duties.

Hyundai seems to be focusing on making this a practical family SUV rather than a purely style-led crossover. The available spy shots suggest a reasonably spacious cabin, although the heavy camouflage means finer details remain difficult to make out. Chrome detailing could also feature on the dashboard, while the overall layout looks cleaner than some of Hyundai’s older interiors.

The exterior follows Hyundai’s latest design direction, with H-shaped LED DRLs mounted high up on the front fascia, a slatted grille and separate headlamp housings lower down. The SUV also gets prominent wheel-arch cladding, functional roof rails, a sunroof and angular window frames. At the rear, the test vehicle features parking sensors and a raked windscreen, while the lighting signature is expected to mirror the front-end treatment.

Interestingly, the latest test mule also appears to be equipped with a 360-degree camera, which should be useful given the SUV’s larger footprint. Conventional pull-type door handles are being used, suggesting Hyundai is choosing practicality over the flush-fitting handles seen on some newer premium models.

Hyundai is expected to offer the Bayon-based SUV with petrol and CNG powertrains, although the final line-up is yet to be confirmed. The most obvious candidate is the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine already used by the Creta. In the Creta, this motor produces 115 PS and 143.8 Nm and is available with a six-speed manual and IVT automatic.

A CNG option could be particularly interesting because it would make this Hyundai one of the first SUVs above four metres to offer the fuel. A dual-cylinder CNG setup could be used to minimise the impact on boot space, although that too remains speculative at this stage.

New Maruti Suzuki Baleno – Top 5 Things You Should Know

The 2026 Maruti Suzuki Baleno gets a new engine, improved features list and mileage amongst other revisions in India

The first mid-cycle update for the second generation Baleno introduced in 2022 has arrived with notable changes. The Baleno continues to be amongst the best-selling cars in India and let alone, the top-selling premium hatchback but do the updates really stand out?
Here are the five key things you should know about the new Baleno.

1. New 1.2-Litre Z-Series Petrol Engine

The biggest mechanical change comes from the new 1.2-litre Z-Series petrol engine replacing the previous 1.2-litre K-series four-cylinder unit. The three-cylinder engine already serves in Swift and Dzire and now finds a place under the bonnet of the Baleno. It makes 82 hp and 112 Nm and is coupled with a five-speed MT or a five-speed AMT while the CNG version gets hooked to a MT for now.

2. First-In-Segment Level 2 ADAS

The key safety addition is Level 2 ADAS which makes the new Baleno considerably more advanced than its predecessor. The package includes Adaptive Cruise Control, High Beam Assist, Advanced Emergency Braking and Lane Keep Assist. The segment-first feature could prove to be the ultimate selling point in this mid-cycle update.

3. Exterior Design Changes

The exterior does not receive a comprehensive makeover but the changes are evident at the front. It gains a redesigned grille with triple chrome horizontal slats, a reworked bumper and fog lamp housings. With no change in dimensions and alloy wheel design, the rear features subtle changes only.

4. Interior & New Features

The new Baleno gets ventilated front seats which should prove particularly useful in the country’s warmer conditions. The equipment list also includes a Qi-certified wireless smartphone charger with active cooling and a premium Clarion sound system. The dashboard retains its layout as no changes to the touchscreen and console were made. It also gets tyre pressure monitoring system, six airbags, HUD and 360-degree camera.

5. Improved Mileage

The petrol manual variant of the Baleno facelift has a claimed mileage of 23.80 kmpl – a 6.4 per cent improvement while the AMT automatic version goes even further at 24.77 kmpl with a 7.9 per cent jump. The most significant efficiency leap belongs to the factory-fitted CNG manual variant which sees a 9.8 per cent increase to 33.61 km per kg.

Top 10 Most Sold Cars August 2026 – Punch, Wagon R, Swift, Fronx, Nexon, Creta

In the list of top 10 most sold cars in August 2026, Tata Punch finished as the country’s best-selling car with 21,320 units ahead of the Wagon R and Swift

The Tata Punch secured the top position in the country’s PV sales chart in August 2026 with 21,320 units. Its sales almost doubled from 10,704 units during the same month last year resulting in a 99 per cent YoY increase. Maruti Suzuki, however, dominated the overall top ten with six models when compared with two from Tata Motors and one each from Hyundai and Mahindra.

The Maruti Suzuki Wagon R finished second with 20,180 units against 14,552 units in August 2025 as it recorded a 39 per cent YoY growth. The Swift compact hatchback came close behind at 19,832 units and posted an even bigger 60 per cent increase from 12,385 units. Only 1,488 units separated the Punch from the Swift across the first three positions.

The Maruti Suzuki Fronx occupied fourth position with 18,730 units – up 51 per cent from 12,422 units a year earlier and it has been a massive hit for the brand since its market launch in 2023. The Ertiga ranked fifth with 18,516 units – almost identical to its August 2025 tally of 18,445 units. The MPV recorded flat YoY sales despite adding 71 units compared with the corresponding period last year.

The Tata Nexon took sixth with 18,431 units as it endured an increase of 32 per cent over its August 2025 tally of 14,004 units. The best-selling sedan in India, Maruti Suzuki Dzire, sat just 13 units behind the Nexon with 18,418 units and registered 12 per cent YoY growth. The tiny difference between the two models also shows how closely packed the middle of the August top ten chart was.

The Hyundai Creta finished eighth with 16,288 units compared with 15,924 units a year ago. Its 2 per cent YoY increase was one of the smallest among the models on the list. The Baleno occupied ninth with 15,746 units – up 25 per cent from 12,549 units during the same period twelve months ago. The arrival of the facelift will help increase its volume figures further in the coming months.

Hyundai Creta

The Mahindra Scorpio completed the top ten with 15,576 units. Its August volume rose 58 per cent from 9,840 units recorded during the same month last year. Among the ten models, only the Punch recorded a larger percentage increase with the Swift at 60 per cent and Fronx at 51 per cent also posting sizeable gains. Maruti Suzuki’s six entries – Wagon R, Swift, Fronx, Ertiga, Dzire and Baleno – accounted for 111,422 units between them. Meanwhile, Tata’s Punch and Nexon contributed another 39,751 units.
