Maruti Suzuki will introduce a new Creta rival SUV this year; brand’s first electric SUV e Vitara will launch in India by September 2025
India’s largest car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki, is preparing to launch multiple new SUVs in the country. Currently selling some high-volume models in its portfolio, including Fronx, Brezza and Grand Vitara, the company is aiming to enhance its presence in the SUV segment. These upcoming models will cater to a new set of customers in the EV, hybrid and mid-size SUV segments. Let’s look at the 3 upcoming Maruti SUVs this year.
1. Maruti Suzuki e Vitara
Maruti Suzuki will launch the e Vitara in the Indian market by September 2025. The brand’s first electric SUV will be based on an all-new born-electric skateboard platform, the Heartect-e. The EV SUV will be available with two battery pack options i.e. 61.1 kWh and 48.9 kWh.
The former will be mated to a front-wheel-mounted electric motor, putting out 171 bhp and 192 Nm of peak torque. The 0-100 kmph claimed accelerating timing will be less than 9 seconds. The smaller battery pack will have a lower power output of 141 bhp. The larger battery pack will deliver a claimed range of over 500 kilometres on a single charge.

2. New 5-Seater Creta Rival SUV
As reported exclusively by us earlier, Maruti Suzuki is working on a new 5-seater SUV which will be positioned between the Brezza and Grand Vitara. The mid-size SUV will be sold via the brand’s Arena dealership chain and is expected to be longer than the Grand Vitara, thereby offering better boot space.
Reports claim that the new Creta rival SUV could be named Escudo, however, nothing can be confirmed as of now. Internally codenamed Y17, the upcoming SUV will be powered by the familiar 1.5-litre K15C mild-hybrid and 1.5-litre strong-hybrid engines, along with the option of CNG and AWD. While the exact launch timeline is not known, the new Maruti 5-seater SUV is confirmed to go on sale by the end of 2025.

3. Maruti Suzuki Fronx Hybrid
Maruti will debut its in-house developed HEV series-hybrid powertrain with the Fronx facelift. While the details regarding the upcoming Fronx hybrid are scarce at the moment, it is expected to debut in the Indian market by the end of 2025. In addition to the new hybrid system, the updated Fronx could likely feature a revised exterior design, refreshed interiors and more features.
Internally codenamed YTB, the hybrid crossover will employ the familiar 1.2-litre Z12E petrol engine under the hood. The major advantage of this range extender hybrid technology is the improved efficiency, and in the case of Fronx Hybrid, we can expect around 30 kmpl or even more.
