Toyota India, after having a quiet first half in 2025, will introduce as many as three new SUVs in the second half in the domestic market
Toyota India launched the all-new Camry sedan in Dec 2024 in the domestic market. Since then, it has been almost five months, the company has not had any major model launch in India, except for the Fortuner Legender 4×4 MT, Hilux Black Edition and Innova HyCross Exclusive Edition. Hence, we expect a lot of action from the Japanese auto-giant in the coming 8-12 months in the Indian market. The company had showcased quite a few products at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo. In this piece, we will detail the 3 upcoming Toyota cars launching in 2025-26 in India.
1. Toyota Fortuner Hybrid
The media is abuzz with reports that Fortuner hybrid could be launched as early as next month (June 2025) in the Indian market. The 2.8L GD diesel engine will be equipped with a 48V mild-hybrid unit while the 4×4 variants will boast of a idle start/stop system. Toyota Fortuner hybrid is already sold in multiple global markets including Australia and South Africa.
Toyota Fortuner hybrid’s production has already commenced at the brand’s factory in Karnataka. The company claims that the 48V lithium-ion battery not only increases the overall mileage but also boosts the performance in a significant manner. The hybrid version of the SUV is likely to come with a regenerative braking system to preserve the lost energy.

2. Toyota Urban Cruiser EV
The Urban Cruiser EV made its first public appearance in concept form at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo. It is Toyota’s version of the Maruti e-Vitara which goes on sale in Sep 2025. The all-electric Toyota SUV will launch around Dec 2025 in the Indian market. The Japanese brand has already unveiled the production-spec Urban Cruiser EV in several global markets.
The Urban Cruiser EV will get the same battery options as the e-Vitara in the form of 49 kWh and 61 kWh. The driving range could be in excess of 500 km on a single charge with the bigger 61 kWh battery while it could return 350+ km range on a full charge with the smaller 49 kWh battery. It is likely to be priced slightly higher than the e-Vitara.

3. Toyota Hyryder 7-seater
The 7-seater version of the Hyryder SUV is expected to be launched by early 2026 in the Indian market. A few reports claim that it will be produced at Maruti’s Kharkhoda factory alongside the Grand Vitara 7-seater. Toyota Hyryder 7-seater will be powered by the same naturally-aspirated 1.5L petrol engine with mild-hybrid setup and 1.5L petrol engine with the Atkinson strong hybrid system, that we have seen in the Maruti Grand Vitara.
