The Japanese automaker, Nissan plans to expand its Indian product portfolio with three new models in FY2026. The range will include a midsize SUV based on the new Duster, a 7-seater SUV based on the Renault Boreal and an A-segment electric car. The upcoming Nissan compact SUV is surely one of the most-anticipated models, as it will challenge the dominance of the Hyundai Creta in the midsize SUV segment. It will also compete with the Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Honda Elevate, Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun.
According to a latest media report, the new Nissan compact SUV will be named ‘Nissan Kait’ in the Brazilian market. As of now, it is unclear whether the model coming to India will carry the same nameplate or a different one.
Let’s take a look at the key details of Nissan’s upcoming Creta rival SUV.
– The official teaser reveals that the new Nissan compact SUV will feature the brand’s signature grille with two thin chrome strips running across its length. The L-shaped LED DRLs will be connected with a chrome strip. Despite being based on the new Renault Duster, Nissan’s Creta rival SUV will have a distinct design.
– Media reports suggest that Nissan’s Creta rival SUV will be more feature-packed than the new Duster. Features such as a 360 degree camera, automatic climate control, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, rear AC vents, and multiple drive modes could be on offer.
– The engine specifications of the new Nissan compact SUV are not available at the moment. However, it’s most likely to share powertrain with the new Renault Duster. The Duster is expected to be offered with a 1.0L turbocharged petrol engine and a strong hybrid powertrain. The hybrid version could feature a 94bhp, 1.6L, 4-cylinder petrol engine, paired with two electric motors and a 1.2kWh battery pack.
