Top 4 Upcoming Maruti Hybrid Cars By 2026

Demand for strong-hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles is rising in India. In fact, the hybrid cars sales are outperforming EV (electric vehicle) sales during certain periods. Considering the market’s inclination towards hybrids, OEMs such as Maruti, Hyundai, Kia, Toyota and Mahindra are planning to launch mainstream hybrid SUVs and cars. India’s largest PV (passenger vehicle) manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki is ready to launch at least 4 new hybrid models by 2026. What are they, and what to expect? Here’s everything we know so far.

Maruti Grand Vitara 7-Seater

The Indo-Japanese automaker has confirmed launch of two SUVs for 2025 – the e Vitara (in September) and a three-row SUV. The new Maruti 7-seater SUV, slated to hit roads in the second half of 2025, will be based on the Grand Vitara, sharing several design and interior elements, features, powertrain and platform. This means, the Maruti Grand Vitara 7-seater SUV will come with the 1.5L Atkinson cycle strong hybrid and 1.5L K15C petrol mild hybrid powertrain options.

Maruti Fronx Hybrid/Baleno Hybrid

Maruti Suzuki is developing its own strong hybrid technology, which will power its mass-market vehicles. The Maruti Fronx will be the first model to feature the brand’s in-house developed hybrid powertrain in 2026. The compact crossover will feature the Z-Series petrol engine, paired with the strong hybrid system. The same setup will be offered with the new-gen Maruti Baleno in 2026. Both hybrid models will surely be high on mileage. As per media reports, the new Maruti hybrid cars will be capable of delivering a fuel efficiency of over 35kmpl.

Maruti Compact MPV

Next on the list of upcoming Maruti hybrid cars is an all-new compact MPV based on the Suzuki Spacia, which is already on sale in Japan. This model, internally codenamed YDB, will be a direct rival to the Renault Triber and Nissan’s upcoming subcompact MPV due for 2025. The new Maruti compact MPV is expected to launch sometime in 2026. In Japan, the Spacia is available with a 660cc engine. However, the India-spec version is likely to come with the 1.2L Z-Series petrol engine, paired to the strong hybrid powertrain.
