The SUV segment in India will witness the entry of multiple new ICE and EV models by the end of FY26 (March 2026)

The first quarter of FY26 is about to come to an end and in the coming months, we will witness a plethora of new SUVs being launched in the Indian market. Several prominent brands such as Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai and Tata Motors will present their keenly-awaited SUV models in the country. The companies are eyeing the festive season of Diwali (Sep-Oct) 2025 to launch the upcoming SUVs in India. In this piece, we will talk about the new cars which are going on sale in the coming 6-9 months in the domestic market.

1. Maruti e-Vitara

The e-Vitara was unveiled in production-ready guise at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo in New Delhi. It will go on sale later this year in September along with the price announcement. Maruti’s first electric SUV will be based on the HEARTECT-e EV platform while available with a choice of two battery packs: 49 kWh and 61 kWh. The latter is claimed to have a driving range of 500 km on a single charge.

Maruti e-Vitara will ride on 18-inch alloy wheels as standard while the cabin will be loaded with multiple premium features in the form of 10-way power adjustable driver seat, Sliding and reclining rear seats, Harman surround sound system, 7-airbags, Level 2 ADAS and Next-gen Suzuki Connect. Maruti Suzuki has installed DC fast chargers at 1500 dealerships across 1000 cities in India.

2. New-Gen Hyundai Venue

The new-generation Hyundai Venue will make its highly-anticipated debut in Oct 2025 in India. It has been spotted multiple times during the test runs and the spy-images suggest a radical overhaul in terms of styling with the inclusion of connected DRLs, quad-LED headlamps, and front parking sensors. The new-gen Hyundai Venue is also likely to get a panoramic sunroof, all four disc brakes and bigger touchscreen infotainment system. Mechanically, it will be carrying the same petrol and diesel engines with manual and automatic transmission options.

3. Tata Sierra

The Sierra SUV will launch in India by the end of 2025 in both ICE and EV versions. Being unveiled at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo, it will come with a triple-screen setup in the cabin which will serve as the instrument cluster, central touchscreen infotainment system and an additional screen for the front passenger. While the ICE version is expected to come with 1.5L turbo petrol and 2.0L diesel engines, the EV model could be offered with 65 kWh and 75 kWh battery packs of the Harrier EV.

4. Honda Elevate EV

Honda’s first EV in India is expected to launch by the end of FY26. Though contrary to earlier reports, it will not be based on the Elevate SUV. The 5-seater mid-sized e-SUV will rival Hyundai Creta EV, Maruti e-Vitara and Mahindra BE 6. The Japanese brand will establish a network of DC fast charging stations at its dealer outlets across the country. The new Honda EV could come with a range of 500+ km on a full charge while loaded with premium features such as Level 2 ADAS, 360 degree camera and Ventilated seats among others.
