In May 2025, Hyundai Creta continued to be on top of the midsize SUV sales table ahead of Scorpio, Hyryder, XUV700, Seltos and Grand Vitara
The sales across the midsize SUV segment in May saw some models climb the rankings while others slid down. The Hyundai Creta, still operating at the top, managed to retain its position by closing the month with 14,860 units dispatched. The tally barely nudged over last year’s tally but in a segment loaded with volatility, holding steady counts for something.
Right behind, Mahindra’s Scorpio – split across Classic and N variants – recorded 14,401 units. While the vehicle continues to thrive on its rural and semi-urban appeal, its numbers reflect modest growth year-on-year, up 5 per cent. The Toyota Hyryder, meanwhile, posted the kind of spike that tends to raise eyebrows – sales nearly doubled, jumping to 7,573 units from just under 4,000 a year ago.
The Mahindra XUV700 registered a measured step forward – 6,435 units found dealerships in May, representing a 28 per cent increase over last year’s volume. It remains the brand’s most tech-forward ICE SUV and continues to push deeper into new markets. Sitting just beneath that line, Kia’s Seltos wrapped the month at 6,082 units.

The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara garnered a total of 5,197 units in the month of May 2025 as against 9,736 units during the same period last year with a sharp slide of 47 per cent. Below the established contenders, Tata’s Curvv has been putting in decent numbers. At 3,063 units, the coupe SUV finished seventh within the top 10 sales charts for midsize SUVs.
