Most of the vehicles featuring constantly in the list of highest-selling models in the domestic market fall below the price tag of Rs 10 lakh. Hence, in this piece, we will talk in detail about the top 5 budget cars under Rs 10 lakh in India.
1. Maruti Baleno
Being on sale in the Indian market for the past decade, Maruti Baleno is considered one of the most value-for-money hatchback due to the amount of comfort and features it is offered with. The premium hatch is available in four grades namely Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha while priced between Rs 6.74-9.96 lakh (ex-showroom).

It is presented in petrol and CNG fuel trims with manual gearbox as standard while AMT unit is on offer with higher trims of petrol engine. Recently, Maruti standardized 6-airbags across the entire variant line-up of the Baleno.

2. Tata Punch
Being the highest-selling model of 2024, Tata Punch debuted in Oct 2021 in the domestic market in India. The micro-SUV is retailed in a total of 31 variants with manual and AMT gearbox options in petrol and CNG trims across ten grades namely Pure, Pure (O), Adventure, Adventure+, Adventure Sunroof, Adventure +Sunroof, Accomplished +, Accomplished +Sunroof, Creative +, and Creative +Sunroof.

Priced in the range of Rs 6.20-10.17 lakh, Tata Punch gets a plethora of features such as Voice-assisted Electric Sunroof, Auto Headlamps, Rain Sensing Wipers, Wireless Charger and Cruise Control. Sadly, it misses out on 6-airbags even as an option.
3. Maruti Swift

It won’t be an understatement to term the Swift as the country’s most loved small car as it just completed two decades in the Indian market. It is retailed only with a petrol engine across five derivatives namely Lxi, Vxi, Vxi (O), Zxi and Zxi+ in a price bracket of Rs 6.49-9.50 lakh (ex-showroom). Besides the opulent features, Maruti Swift returns mileage of 24.80 kmpl and 25.75 kmpl with the manual and automatic (AMT) grades, respectively. The hatch is equipped with 6-airbags as standard safety fitment across all the variants.

4. Hyundai Venue
Hyundai Venue, the only SUV model in this list, comes in a price bracket of Rs 7.94-13.53 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) in the domestic market. It is available in both petrol and diesel fuel trims with a total of three engines: 1.2L Kappa petrol (5-speed manual), 1.0L turbocharged petrol (6-speed manual and 7-speed DCT auto) and 1.5L CRDi diesel (6-speed manual).

Some of the notable features onboard include Dashcam with dual camera, Drive modes (Normal, Eco and Sport), Smart Electric Sunroof, Ambient Lighting, Auto Healthy Air Purifier, 6-Airbags and ADAS suite.
5. Maruti Fronx
The Fronx crossover was launched in April 2023 in a price bracket of Rs 7.59-13.11 lakh (ex-showroom) in the Indian market. It’s been around two and a half years since it went on sale in India and the Fronx has already shattered multiple records, which includes becoming the fastest SUV to clock 1 lakh exports from India.

It is packed with premium features in the form of Cruise Control, Head Up Display, Wireless Charging, 360 Degree View Camera and Rear AC Vents. Maruti Fronx is sold with two petrol engines: 1.0L turbocharged Boosterjet and 1.2L K-Series Dual-jet. The crossover gets a 6-speed AT unit with paddle shifters.
