Nissan will launch an all-new affordable 7-seater MPV in India in the first quarter of 2026
The 7-seater car segment is expected to grow in the coming years. The growth will be further accelerated by the launch of new models in the coming years. The 7-seater cars get the advantage of an extra pair of seats, more space for family outings and a comfortable cabin experience. In line with this, let’s look at the upcoming brand new 7-seater cars in India.
1. Mahindra XEV 7e

Mahindra is preparing to launch an all-new 7-seater electric SUV in India. Dubbed the XEV 7e, it is essentially the electrified version of the XUV700. Expected to launch by the end of 2025, the EV SUV will be based on the INGLO skateboard platform, shared with the XEV 9e and BE 6. The XEV 7e will likely be offered in two battery pack options, i.e. 59 kWh and 79 kWh, with rear-wheel drive as standard. We expect the XEV 7e to get both 6-seater and 7-seater configurations at the time of launch.

2. Renault Boreal

Renault has already debuted the Boreal SUV globally, and it is expected to go on sale in India in the second half of 2026. Based on the Dacia Bigster, the Boreal will likely be offered in a 7-seater configuration in the domestic market. Measuring 4,556 mm long with a wheelbase of 2,702 mm, the SUV is underpinned by the CMF modular platform. Internationally, the Renault Boreal is powered by a 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine, available in both petrol and flex fuel guise. The engine is mated to a 6-speed DCT automatic gearbox.
3. MG Majestor
The much-awaited MG Majestor will likely be launched in the coming months, most likely around the festive season. The 7-seater full-size SUV is the facelifted model of the Gloster, featuring a refreshed exterior design, which resembles the Maxus D90 SUV sold in international markets. It will be powered by the familiar 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine, putting out 216 bhp and 479 Nm of peak torque. It will be paired to an 8-speed automatic gearbox, channelling power to the rear wheels, with 4WD as an option.

The Nissan 7-seater MPV is confirmed in the Indian market for the first quarter of 2026. It will be based on the Renault Triber, sharing the CMF-A platform. Previously, the company also shared a teaser, which highlighted the modern and upmarket design of the upcoming MPV. The Nissan 7-seater MPV will likely be powered by the familiar 1.0-litre 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine putting out 72 bhp and 96 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 5-speed manual and an AMT gearbox.
5. Hyundai 7-Seater Hybrid SUV
Hyundai is currently working on a new 7-seater hybrid SUV for the Indian market. Internally codenamed Ni1i, we expect it to be positioned above the Alcazar in the brand’s line-up. Rivalling the likes of Mahindra XUV700 and Tata Safari, the three-row SUV will get a strong hybrid powertrain, which will be shared with the next-gen Creta.
