With the GST 2.0 coming into effect starting September 22, the Indian automotive market has witnessed a boom, thanks to the reduction in taxation leading to price cuts across various segments. The highly popular compact SUV segment now commands a flat 18% GST rate, down from the earlier 28% GST and a compensation tax of 1% to 3%. In this article, we will look at the top 5 compact SUVs with the highest GST 2.0 benefits.
1. Kia Syros

The Syros is the latest product from Kia, and after the reduction in GST rates, the compact SUV gets a price cut of up to Rs. 1.86 lakh for the top-spec HTX Plus (O) diesel variant. On the other hand, the petrol line-up can be had with benefits of up to Rs. 1.49 lakh for the 1.0 tGDi DCT HTX Plus (O) trim. The new price range of the Syros starts from Rs. 8.67 lakh
and extends up to Rs. 15.94 lakh (ex-showroom).

2. Kia Sonet

The GST 2.0 saving on the Sonet accounts for up to Rs. 1.64 lakh, which is for the top-of-the-line GTX Plus AT variant. The petrol-powered Sonet gets a price cut of up to Rs. 1.35 lakh for the top-spec X-Line DCT trim. The new price range of the Sonet starts from Rs. 7.30 lakh and goes up to Rs. 14.10 lakh (ex-showroom).
3. Mahindra XUV3XO
Mahindra has reduced the price of the XUV3XO by up to Rs. 1.56 lakh. The highest price drop is for the AX7 diesel variant. The petrol variants of the compact SUV get a price reduction of up to Rs. 1.40 lakh. The Mahindra XUV3XO now starts at Rs. 7.28 lakh, with the top-spec variant going up to Rs. 14.40 lakh (ex-showroom).

4. Tata Nexon

The Nexon is one of the most sought-after compact SUVs in the Indian market. With the price cut, it becomes more affordable for the customers by up to Rs. 1.55 lakh. The diesel top-end Fearless+ PS DT variant gets the highest price reduction, while the petrol-powered Nexon can be had with GST savings of up to Rs. 1.25 lakh. The Nexon is now priced in the range of Rs. 7.32 lakh and Rs. 14.05 lakh (ex-showroom).
5. Mahindra Thar

The Thar RWD (rear-wheel-drive) LX diesel variant gets a price reduction of up to Rs. 1.35 lakh. This comes down to its smaller 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine and sub-4-meter length, which falls under the flat 18% GST slab. On the other hand, the 4WD variants with the larger 2.2-litre mHawk engine get lesser GST benefits. The new price range of the Mahindra Thar starts from Rs. 10.32 lakh (ex-showroom).
