Maruti Suzuki is expected to bring in a host of hybrid and electric vehicles targetting the mass market segment in the coming years in India
Over the coming years, Maruti Suzuki intends to strengthen its foothold in India’s competitive car market with new compact offerings. The automaker’s upcoming lineup will explore multiple body styles while embracing a hybrid and all-electric powertrains. They will focus on affordability and everyday usability as they will look to make a notable impact in the mass-market segment. Here is the list of possible upcoming models:
1. New Maruti Suzuki Small Car:
Maruti Suzuki is said to be working to introduce an all-new entry-level car in the Indian market – expected to come with a range of engine options including hybrid, flex-fuel, and CNG. It may target the revival of the once dominant first-time buyer segment which has witnessed a steady decline lately.
2. Maruti Suzuki eWX:
Drawing inspiration from the eWX concept, Maruti Suzuki’s upcoming compact EV is expected to feature a tall and upright design that maximises interior space. The emphasis will clearly be on practicality and value with the brand possibly looking to deliver an affordable electric offering specifically for the Indian buyers.

3. New Maruti Suzuki Baleno:
The next generation Maruti Suzuki Baleno is expected to make its debut in 2027 – bringing a new design direction and a more feature-rich cabin. According to early reports, Maruti’s in-house hybrid technology could evolve into a range-extender-style setup delivering fuel efficiency figures of more than 30 kmpl.
4&5. Maruti Suzuki Compact MPV & Micro SUV:
Maruti Suzuki is said to be working on an all-new seven-seater MPV that will likely debut with the brand’s next-gen strong hybrid petrol engine. In addition, development is also underway for a new micro SUV slated to arrive by late 2026 or 2027. It could be positioned to take on the Tata Punch and Hyundai Exter with hybridisation.

Expected to take on rivals such as the Renault Kiger, Maruti Suzuki’s upcoming compact MPV may borrow styling cues and packaging from the international-spec Suzuki Spacia. With optimised proportions and a roomy cabin, it will likely cater to families and first-time buyers looking for a versatile yet budget-friendly people mover below the Ertiga.
6. Maruti Suzuki Fronx Hybrid:
Maruti Suzuki is reportedly readying an updated iteration of the Fronx with its official reveal expected in the near future. It could be equipped with features such as ADAS and may offer the smart hybrid system found in the export version of the Fronx before switching to an in-house developed hybrid unit.
