Top brands including Maruti Suzuki, Tata, Mahindra and Kia are planning to introduce new models in the first month of the new calendar year

The month of January 2026 is shaping up to be a packed one for the Indian car market especially for SUV buyers. As the new year kicks off, several major manufacturers are lining up new models that comprise new nameplates and heavily reworked bestsellers. Brands such as Mahindra, Kia, Tata, Renault and Maruti Suzuki are ready to hit the ground running within the first few weeks of the year.

1. Mahindra XUV 7XO:

One of the most awaited arrivals is Mahindra’s XUV 7XO, scheduled for January 5. Essentially a deep rework of the XUV700, the 7XO utilises Mahindra’s latest design cues inspired by its premium electric SUVs. It will boast a much tech-heavier cabin with features like three screens, 16-speaker audio, a 540-degree camera system, new ADAS visualisation graphics and upgraded materials.

2. New Kia Seltos:

Meanwhile, Kia will kickstart 2026 by revealing prices of the second generation Seltos on January 2. The midsize SUV brings noticeable styling revisions, a reworked interior and a longer features list. Built on the K3 platform, the new Seltos continues with familiar engines and gearbox choices.

3. New Renault Duster:

Towards the end of the month, Renault will bring back a familiar name. The next-gen Duster returns on January 26 underpinned by the new CMF-B architecture and it will borrow design from the international model but India-specific tweaks will be apparent too. The interior will be loaded with modern equipment and technologies including a 10.1-inch touchscreen and Level 2 ADAS.

4. Tata Harrier & Safari Petrol:

Tata Motors, on the other hand, will focus on powertrain expansion as the petrol versions of the Harrier and Safari are set to go on sale soon. The SUVs are powered by Tata’s new 1.5-litre Hyperion turbo petrol engine. Along with the new motor, both model gain significant upgrades including a OLED infotainment display, Level 2 ADAS and new Ultra trims.

5. Maruti Suzuki e Vitara:

Maruti Suzuki will enter the EV space in earnest with the launch of the e Vitara. Built on the Heartect-e platform, it will offer two battery options with a claimed driving range of over 500 km. The feature list will be extensive with ADAS, a head-up display and a large touchscreen forming part of the package.

6. Nissan Gravite:

Another confirmed launch for January 2026 will be a brand new compact MPV from Nissan dubbed the Gravite. Based on the same CMF-B platform as the Triber, it will feature distinctive styling bits and a more premium interior while the powertrain options will be familiar.
