Nissan Gravite

Nissan Gravite is based on the same CMF-A platform as the Renault Triber and it will be equipped with a 1.0L NA petrol and 1.0L turbo petrol engines

Nissan India has officially announced the name of its upcoming sub-four-metre MPV as Gravite. Revealed during a virtual event, the Gravite marks an important step in Nissan’s product expansion strategy for the Indian market and will play a key role in the brand’s revival plans.

The Nissan Gravite is based on the shared CMF-A platform with the Renault Triber. It will be manufactured at the Oragadam facility in Tamil Nadu alongside its Renault sibling, allowing Nissan to benefit from localisation and cost efficiencies. While the brand will unveil its larger Tekton SUV at the resurgence event scheduled for February 2026, the Gravite will arrive earlier – making it Nissan’s first major launch of the year.

Nissan has confirmed that the official launch and booking commencement will take place in January 2026. However, retail sales and customer deliveries are planned to begin in March 2026, once the production ramp-up is complete and dealer stock is ready.

Positioned in the MPV segment which is regaining popularity, the Nissan Gravite will offer seven-seat flexibility similar to the Triber. The main focus will be on modular seating which should make it suitable for multiple purposes. Nissan has also teased the model giving us the first glimpses of its own unique exterior styling which is a clear differentiator from its Renault counterpart.

Up front, the nose looks sharp and is dominated by a wide and blacked-out fascia that integrates a slim LED light bar stretching across the width. The headlamps sit neatly within this dark housing. Subtle creases on the bonnet add muscle without looking overstyled while the Gravite lettering is positioned prominently at the leading edge.

The overall face feels upright and planted. At the rear, the Gravite continues the minimalist theme with a strong horizontal emphasis. The LED tail lamps are sleek and sharply contoured, visually connected by a dark strip that carries the Nissan badge. The rear glass is neatly integrated, framed by a roof-mounted spoiler and the Gravite wording can also be seen on the upright tailgate.

On the powertrain front, the Gravite will be offered with two petrol engine options. These include a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and a more powerful 1.0-litre turbo petrol unit. Both manual and automatic transmissions options will be available.

Pricing will be one of the Gravite’s biggest strengths. We expect the MPV to be priced in line with the Renault Triber with a starting price expected to be under Rs. 6 lakh (ex-showroom). Alongside new product launches, Nissan has also announced plans to significantly expand its dealership network. The company aims to grow its showroom footprint to 250 outlets across India – improving accessibility and after-sales reach.
