New Renault Duster registered 30.49 out of 32 in Adult Occupant Protection and 45 out of 49 in Child Occupant Protection tests conducted by Bharat NCAP

The all-new Renault Duster has secured a full five-star rating under the Bharat NCAP programme and the achievement comes at a crucial time for the SUV’s return to the Indian market. The midsize SUV delivered appreciable scores across both evaluation categories registering 30.49 out of 32 in Adult Occupant Protection and 45 out of 49 in Child Occupant Protection.

The certification is based on multiple trims including Evolution (1.3L MT), Techno (1.3L DCT) and Iconic (1.3L MT) and importantly, the five-star rating extends across a wide range of variants. Built on the versatile RGMP platform, the SUV benefits from enhanced structural strength and improved crash energy absorption.

With a tested crash weight of 1,621 kg and a two-row body configuration, the Duster has been engineered to offer consistent protection across different types of impacts including frontal offset and side barrier tests where it scored 14.49/16 and a perfect 16/16 respectively. The safety package is comprehensive too with several essential systems offered as standard.

Electronic Stability Control (ESC), pedestrian protection systems and seat belt reminders are also part of the standard fitment across variants. On the child safety front, the Duster scored with a full dynamic score of 24/24 using child restraint systems such as the Joie i-Spin 360.

The SUV also achieved maximum points in CRS installation – pointing towards ease of fitment and effectiveness. ISOFIX mounts are provided on the second-row outboard seats while an airbag cut-off switch is available for added flexibility. The five-seater comes equipped with 35 standard safety features along with 17 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems.
