In the month of March 2026, the table of top 10 compact SUVs saw Tata’s dominance as the Punch and Nexon led the way ahead of others
The sub-four-metre SUV space remained one of the busiest and most competitive passenger vehicle segments in March 2026 with Tata Motors taking the top two positions. The Tata Punch emerged as the highest-selling model in the category with 20,977 units dispatched – registering an 18 per cent year-on-year increase over 17,714 units sold in March last year.
In the second position was the Tata Nexon with 19,810 units – up 21 per cent from 16,366 units during the same month last year. The Nexon is one of Tata’s strongest products thanks to its petrol, diesel, CNG and EV choices along with its credible safety image. Tata holding the top two spots shows how well the company has established itself in the compact SUV category.
Maruti Suzuki secured third and fourth positions with the Brezza and Fronx respectively. The Brezza posted 16,130 units – slipping marginally by 3 per cent compared to 16,546 units a year ago. Despite the slight dip, it continues to be a consistent performer in the segment. The Fronx, meanwhile, sold 15,540 units against 13,669 units last year growing by 14 per cent.
