Mini has introduced the new Countryman C in India as the latest model is now being assembled at BMW Group’s plant in Chennai. It is a substantial departure from its predecessor by growing noticeably in size and getting a more upright stance. The SUV comes with a completely reworked exterior comprising sharper body surfacing, squared-off proportions, prominent wheel arches and redesigned LED lighting elements contributing to a more prominent road presence.
The front fascia features a distinctive octagonal grille while the rear gains newly developed matrix-effect tail lamps. Mini is also offering multiple daytime running light signatures for those wanting to personalise the vehicle’s appearance. The dashboard boasts a high-resolution 240 mm circular OLED touchscreen which serves as the central interface for infotainment, vehicle functions and connectivity features.
Running the latest Mini Operating System 9, the display supports voice commands through the Personal Assistant and forms the centrepiece of the brand’s new digital ecosystem. The interior space has improved significantly as well with rear passengers benefitting from sliding and reclining seats. The luggage capacity stands at 505 litres and can be expanded to 1,450 litres when the second-row seats are folded.

The dashboard and door panels utilise textile-based materials created through a specialised knitting process. Powering the Countryman C is a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine pushing out 156 hp maximum power and 240 Nm of peak torque. The engine works alongside a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The powertrain continues to emphasise the brand’s well-known go kart inspired driving dynamics.
Features include a head-up display, Digital Key Plus, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, connected car functions, remote software updates, navigation services and a 12-speaker Harman Kardon audio system. Owners can also choose from multiple Mini Experience Modes that alter ambient lighting, graphics and sound settings.
The Countryman C further benefits from a redesigned centre console featuring the brand’s signature Toggle Bar controls. Essential functions such as start-stop operation, gear selection, parking brake activation and drive mode selection can be accessed directly through physical controls while a dedicated wireless charging area has been integrated below.
Driver assistance and safety equipment have also received substantial attention. The SUV comes equipped with Cruise Control, Parking Assistant Plus, a 360-degree camera system and Comfort Access. Additional safety provisions comprise Dynamic Stability Control, Brake Assist, ABS, Cornering Brake Control, tyre pressure monitoring, multiple airbags and an integrated emergency spare wheel.
The British manufacturer claims the Countryman C has secured a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating. The SUV is offered in five exterior shades such as British Racing Green, Smokey Green, Nanuq White, Slate Blue and Chilli Red in the domestic market. Bookings have commenced across Mini dealerships nationwide with customer deliveries beginning immediately.
