2027 Mercedes-Maybach GLS 680 receives exterior styling changes, a more powerful electrified V8, updated suspension and more
Mercedes-Maybach has unveiled the 2027 GLS 680 by introducing a series of updates covering exterior styling, interior, technology and mechanical hardware. The luxury SUV will arrive at US dealerships later in 2026 while continuing to be assembled at the company’s production facility in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
The front fascia receives the biggest visual revision. A redesigned Maybach-specific radiator grille now features an illuminated surround while the MAYBACH lettering inside the grille is illuminated for the first time. Mercedes-Maybach has also introduced an optional illuminated standing three-pointed star on the bonnet. The headlamps gain Rose Gold detailing while the front bumper, chrome lower trim and grille inserts have also been revised.
At the rear, redesigned LED tail lamps incorporate three-dimensional star graphics connected by a new trim element stretching across the tailgate. Mercedes-Maybach has expanded the list of exterior colours with Dark Petrol, Manufaktur Patagonia Red Metallic and a new Dark Petrol/Verde Silver Metallic two-tone finish. The SUV also receives a new standard 22-inch alloy wheel while the optional 23-inch forged wheels feature a centre star that remains upright through a ball-bearing mechanism as the wheels rotate.

The cabin gains several revisions too as Beech Brown/Macchiato Beige Exclusive Nappa leather, Natural Grain Brown Walnut wood trim and a High-Gloss Silver Metallic mixed-fabric finish. The front seats receive a vibration massage programme integrated into the seat cushions while the rear Executive Seats add calf-rest massage for the first time. The Burmester 3D Surround Sound System has been upgraded with two additional rear speakers and a more powerful 710-watt amplifier.
Mercedes-Maybach has also improved cabin insulation via changes to the engine compartment, transmission tunnel and bodyshell. A new electric cabin air filtration system has been introduced as standard and is made to renew the interior air every 90 seconds. Power comes from an updated 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 paired with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system.

Output rises to 603 hp and 850 Nm with a gain of 53 hp and 121 Nm over its predecessor. The integrated starter generator can provide an additional 23 hp during acceleration while also supporting coasting, energy recuperation and the automatic start-stop function. Mercedes-Maybach has revised the steering system with a quicker ratio for better response.
The standard air suspension now gets predictive damper control through cloud-based road data while the optional E-Active Body Control continuously adjusts suspension forces and can lean the SUV by up to three degrees while cornering to reduce lateral movement inside the cabin. The latest Mercedes-Benz Operating System is the foundation for the updated infotainment package.

The new MBUX interface adds a revised Zero Layer, Maybach-specific displays, over-the-air software updates, ChatGPT integration, Microsoft Bing Search and Google Gemini support. Driver assistance hardware now comprises 10 cameras, five radar sensors, 12 ultrasonic sensors and a new central computing unit.
