Range Rover has previewed the GT ahead of its debut as it has confirmed an all-electric powertrain, EMA platform, new interior and final stages of global testing
Range Rover has officially confirmed the Range Rover GT by announcing it as the fifth member of its model lineup while revealing the cabin for the first time. The new grand tourer is currently undergoing final validation across global test locations ahead of its full debut later this calendar year. It will also become the first all-electric Range Rover based on the company’s new Electrified Modular Architecture (EMA) platform.
Prototype vehicles continue to wear camouflage but the new images provide a better look at the overall proportions. The GT adopts a low-slung roofline with coupe-inspired styling – differentiating it from the existing Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Velar and Evoque. The camouflage carries a gold topographic pattern developed around the landscape near Gaydon where the company’s design and engineering teams are based.
The first official look at the interior shows a dashboard that follows a minimalist layout with a single central touchscreen replacing the dual-screen arrangement seen in several current Jaguar Land Rover products. A separate digital driver display sits ahead of the steering wheel while a concealed full-width air vent stretches across the dashboard.

The company has also integrated the audio speakers within a woven textile panel that runs across the fascia – reducing the number of visible components inside the cabin. The cabin has been developed with a greater emphasis on simplicity and reduced visual clutter. Physical elements have been minimised and several vehicle functions have been moved into the infotainment system.
Range Rover says the new layout also improves conversational access to controls while lowering both visual and acoustic distractions. The GT will also offer the longest second-row legroom of any model in its segment. It will initially be available only as a battery electric vehicle and will be manufactured alongside internal combustion engine and hybrid models at the Halewood production facility in the United Kingdom.

The company has also confirmed that the EMA platform has been developed with sufficient flexibility to accommodate a Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) derivative later in the model’s lifecycle. Range Rover says the GT has been developed as a long-distance grand tourer while retaining the off-road capability associated with the brand.
The company claims the new architecture has enabled a more car-like driving character without compromising the versatility expected from a Range Rover. Final engineering work currently includes global road testing before production begins. Additional technical specifications, battery details, driving range, performance and market availability have not yet been disclosed.
