Hyundai’s first heavily localised compact EV will be sold with two battery packs with a claimed range of over 500 km
Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has officially confirmed that it will introduce a mass-market EV in India during the current financial year. The announcement accompanied Hyundai’s EV ecosystem expansion which also saw the company integrate access to more than 30,000 charging points across India through the myHyundai app.
The forthcoming electric SUV is widely expected to have a lot in common with the Syros EV and it has been spotted testing repeatedly on Indian roads as well. It will sit below the recently launched Creta Electric. Spy pics suggest the production model will boast upright proportions, circular wheel arches, high bonnet, flush door handles and distinctive sleek lighting elements.
It will also get a closed-off front fascia, aerodynamic wheels, a boxy tailgate and roof rails. It will support 100 kW DC fast charging as 10 to 80 per cent could be replenished in around 39 minutes, and it will also come with Vehicle-to-Load (V2L), i-Pedal driving, regenerative braking and battery pre-conditioning similar to the recently introduced Syros EV.

The Hyundai compact SUV will more likely use a 42 kWh battery coupled with a front-mounted electric motor kicking out 135 PS and 255 Nm and it could deliver a claimed 443 km (MIDC) driving range. Top-end variants will receive a 51.4 kWh battery mated to a 171 PS electric motor generating 255 Nm – extending the claimed range to over 500 km between charges.
The equipment list will comprise dual digital displays, connected car tech, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration, automatic climate control, panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, wireless phone charger, Bose audio system, over-the-air software updates, Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, electronic parking brake and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function.

The confirmation of its launch also coincides with Hyundai’s investment in charging infrastructure. Through partnerships with multiple Charge Point Operators, the myHyundai app now provides access to charging facilities available within an average radius of 25 km. Hyundai also plans to increase its proprietary DC fast charging network from 183 stations across 105 cities to 600 stations by 2030 with charging capacities ranging from 60 kW to 240 kW.
