Under the BaaS model, the customers can own the Creta EV by paying a reduced upfront price of Rs 10.99 lakh and a battery EMI of Rs 3.9 per kilometer

Hyundai Creta EV can now be availed with BaaS (Battery-as-a-Service) subscription programme at a reduced upfront cost starting at Rs 10.99 lakh (ex-showroom) in the Indian market. As part of the BaaS model, the customers will be required to pay battery EMI of Rs 3.9 per kilometer. The best thing about the Battery-as-a-Service programme is that it eliminates one of the biggest customer concerns of higher upfront acquisition cost. Apart from the BaaS, the Creta EV gets additional equipment in the form of integrated side foot step.

The Home Charger (HC) variants of the Creta EV will now be available with a 7.4 kW wall box charger on the basis of customer response and market demand. Apart from these handful of updates, the all-electric SUV remains the same in terms of design, features and battery specs. It continues to be offered in long range and short range battery pack options.

Commenting on the announcement, Mr. Tarun Garg, MD & CEO, Hyundai Motor India Limited, said: “At HMIL, we believe the future of mobility must be accessible, intelligent and customer centric. The introduction of Battery-as-a-Service for the Hyundai CRETA Electric is a transformational step towards democratizing electric mobility in India. By significantly reducing the initial acquisition cost and offering flexible battery rental plans, we are enabling more customers to confidently transition to EVs while enjoying Hyundai’s trusted technology, safety and innovation.”

Without the BaaS model, the Hyundai Creta EV price in India starts at Rs 18.03 lakh while going as high as Rs 24.70 lakh for the range-topping variant. Both the prices mentioned before are ex-showroom, Delhi. Hence, as we can see, there is a massive difference of more than Rs 7 lakh in the upfront ownership cost of the all-electric SUV if the customers opt for the BaaS programme, depending upon the variant.

Some of the notable features onboard the Creta EV are Hyundai SmartSense Level 2 ADAS safety suite, Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology, Digital Key, Single Pedal Drive, and Active Air Flaps. Compatible with DC fast charging, it takes only 39 mins for a 10-80% charge. Available with 51.4 kWh and 42 kWh battery pack options, it comes with a maximum driving range of 510 km (ARAI certified) on a full charge.
