Honda Elevate to get a minor nip and tuck instead of thorough design changes, keeping R&D and production costs in check
The new Honda Elevate that will be launched on 6 October is set to bring several exterior design revisions. While Honda’s teasers offer only a glimpse of the changes, we may already have a clearer idea of what to expect, as the updated model was apparently previewed by a concept in Japan earlier this year.
Honda sells the India-made Elevate in Japan as the WR-V, and at the Tokyo Auto Salon held in January, it showcased a customised version of the same as part of a series of TrailSport HRC Concept models. The company has incorporated some of the key changes of the Honda WR-V TrailSport HRC Concept’s exterior into the facelifted Elevate.
Apparently, the facelifted Honda Elevate has the same new radiator grille as the WR-V TrailSport HRC Concept, featuring a hexagonal mesh pattern and gloss black finish. Three horizontal LED light strips along the new radiator grille’s upper edge visually connect the daytime running lights, creating a more appealing look than the uninterrupted light bands commonly seen on cars today.

Honda has relocated its logo to the bonnet, as it did with the City earlier this year. Unlike on the sedan, though, the company appears to have kept the headlamps and front bumper unchanged. At the rear, Honda has extended the tail lights’ illuminated strips inward, using space already available within the existing lens design. Thus, besides the wider illumination, the overall shape of the rear combination lamps appears unchanged. The company derived this revision also from the WR-V TrailSport HRC Concept.
Inside, the design changes are likely to be even fewer. Unlike the old Elevate, the new model will have a factory-fitted ambient lighting system. Other visual changes may be limited to trim and upholstery. Honda will likely introduce a ventilation function for the front seats to improve comfort, along with power adjustment on the driver’s side for more convenience. A panoramic sunroof is also expected to be added to the list of available features.

Mechanically, the new Honda Elevate is likely to be the same as the old model. Expect the same 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine producing 119 hp and 145 Nm of torque, linked to a 6-speed manual transmission or a CVT. Prices should start at just under Rs. 12 lakh (ex-showroom).
