Five new cars coming this month likely to be priced anywhere between Rs. 6 and 18 lakh rupees (ex-showroom)
With the core period of the peak festive season closing in, automakers are gearing up for some of their biggest car launches this year. Mass-market brands plan to bring five all-new models into showrooms this month, and these would include both compact and midsize cars.
On 6 October, Honda will launch the facelifted version of the Elevate, which it originally launched in June 2023. Honda has released a teaser that all but confirms the exterior design changes would be subtle, just as expected. The company is going for a slightly flashier styling, incorporating a three-element light band along the same horizontal axis as the DRLs and wider tail lights that extend all the way inward to meet the Honda logo.
The new Honda Elevate will likely offer several new features, with factory-fitted ambient lighting already confirmed. Other equipment upgrades could include front-seat ventilation, power adjustment for the driver’s seat, and a panoramic sunroof, but a 360-degree camera system is unlikely to be introduced. No mechanical changes are expected with the facelift.

The new Skoda Slavia will also be launched on 6 October. The facelifted sedan features a more contemporary exterior with a light strip behind the radiator grille, new LED headlamps and front fog lamps, new 16-inch alloy wheels, and new LED tail lamps with sequential turn indicators. Inside, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a segment-first rear-seat massage function are the main upgrades. Skoda has also replaced the 6-speed automatic transmission it used to offer with the 1.0-litre TSI engine with a segment-first 8-speed automatic unit, which is expected to improve the fuel economy.
On 14 October, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) will launch the facelifted Glanza, which is expected to look nearly identical to Maruti Suzuki’s facelifted Baleno. A noticeably larger, V-shaped radiator grille should be the biggest change on the outside. Inside, ventilated front seats should enhance comfort and a cooled wireless charger should provide more convenience.

TKM will likely use a new, Z12E 1.2-litre naturally aspirated three-cylinder engine producing 82 hp and 112.4 Nm of torque running on petrol and 69 hp and 101.8 Nm of torque running on CNG. The petrol variant should deliver a fuel economy of 23.80 km/l (manual)/24.77 km/l (automated manual) and the CNG variant should return 33.61 km/kg.
On 17 October, Renault will commence sales of the Duster Hybrid, which will be its first electrified model in the country. The Duster Hybrid will use a 1.8-litre naturally aspirated direct-injection petrol engine and an electric motor, with the latter drawing electricity from a 1.4 kWh battery. Renault claims customers will be able to drive the Duster Hybrid 80% of the time in EV mode in the city.

Towards the end of this month, Hyundai will launch the second-generation Bayon, its all-new midsize SUV positioned below the Creta and challenging Maruti Suzuki’s Victoris. The all-new Bayon will measure 4.2 metres in length and will likely be available with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine in petrol and CNG variants.
Hyundai should equip it with features such as a gesture-controlled powered tailgate, ventilated front seats with power adjustment on the driver’s side, a wireless smartphone charger, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, front and rear USB Type-C fast-charging ports, a 360ยบ camera system, and Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems.
