Maruti Suzuki’s year-over-year sales performance remained flat in July 2025, but marked a healthy recovery over the preceding month

With 1,37,776 cars sold in July 2025, Maruti Suzuki registered virtually zero year-over-year growth or decline. For the record, the company had delivered 1,37,463 vehicles in July 2024. The superb growth was driven by the full redesign in November last year. On the other hand, the Ciaz, the company’s only other sedan, saw a 71% year-over-year decline, dropping from 603 units to 173 units, as it cleared the last remaining stock.

Among hatchbacks, the Wagon R was in the lead, registering 14,710 units. The Swift wasn’t far behind, though, with 14,190 units sold. That said, the sales of these models were lower than in July 2024, by 9% and 16%, respectively. The Baleno logged 12,503 units, growing 34% over the same month last year (9,308 units).

3 Soon Arriving ICE & Electric SUVs From Hyundai & Kia – Under 10 Lakh

GaadiWaadi -

Kia EV2 Concept

Both Hyundai and Kia will more likely bring in as many as three new compact SUV offerings over the next 12-18 months

Over the next year or so, Hyundai and Kia appear to expand their presence in India with multiple new SUVs across different segments. In the compact SUV category alone, as many as three new models are expected to arrive in response to the growing competition and here we have brought you a rundown of them:

1. Kia Syros EV:

Kia rolled out the Syros ICE only a few months back and in quick succession over the last quarter, the Carens Clavis ICE and its all-electric Clavis EV joined the lineup. The brand now seems to be working on an electric version of the Syros which is expected to make its debut sometime next year locally and it could emphasis on practicality and spaciousness as its IC-engined sibling.

2. Next Gen Hyundai Venue:

Hyundai is gearing up to introduce the next generation Venue in time for the festive season. Test mules have been spotted on several occasions giving away hints of the changes in store. The updated model is expected to feature a renewed design language with alterations to the front fascia, a redesigned rear section and new set of alloy wheels as updates will be inspired by the latest Creta and Alcazar.

New Hyundai venueThe cabin will see a major overhaul too. New additions could include a Level 2 ADAS suite and a panoramic sunroof amongst a host of other inclusions. Under the hood, the Venue is expected to retain its existing engine range – the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol, the 1.5-litre diesel and the 1.0-litre turbo petrol units.

3. Hyundai Inster Electric:

Hyundai’s roadmap for India appears to place greater emphasis on electric mobility with one of the key projects likely being a compact all-electric SUV inspired by the global Inster Electric. Slated for a 2026 launch, this model could offer two battery configurations – targeting a claimed driving range of over 450 km on a single charge as it could be positioned competitively in the growing EV segment.

It is likely to compete head-on with contenders like the Tata Punch EV and the soon-to-launch electric iteration of the Mahindra XUV 3XO. Inside, the cabin could be well-equipped with features such as a large touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster, six airbags as standard, a sunroof and other modern amenities.

Skoda Kushaq Facelift (2)

Expected to go on sale later this year or early 2026, the Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun are set to get their first mid-cycle facelift update

Skoda and Volkswagen started their India 2.0 journey with the debut of two models in the country, namely the Kushaq and Taigun. In this article, we will look at the details of the Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun facelifts.

Under the hood, the Kushaq facelift will continue to be powered by the 1.0-litre TSI and 1.5-litre TSI petrol engines, available with both manual and automatic gearbox options.

2. Volkswagen Taigun Facelift

The test prototype of the updated Taigun was recently spotted for the first time in India. It is expected to go on sale around the same timeline as the Kushaq facelift, most likely in early 2026. Much like the Kushaq, the changes on the Taigun will be concentrated on the cosmetic aspect.

GaadiWaadi -

Maruti Suzuki Fronx

In July 2025, Maruti Suzuki Brezza finished on top of the sales charts for compact SUVs ahead of Fronx, Nexon, Punch and Venue

The compact SUV segment in India witnessed several popular models posting year-on-year declines while a few managed to buck the trend with positive growth. At the top of the charts, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza gained leadership position selling a total of 14,065 units – down by 4 per cent compared to the same period last year.

Despite the drop, its strong brand recall, fuel-efficient powertrain and Arena dealership reach ensured it stayed ahead of the competition. Securing the second spot, the Maruti Suzuki Fronx posted an impressive 18 per cent YoY growth with 12,872 units sold. The compact crossover has been steadily gaining ground due to its overall good packaging.

Its consistent rise highlights Maruti Suzuki’s ability to expand its footprint within the compact SUV space without cannibalising Brezza sales significantly. The Tata Nexon ranked third recording 12,825 units in July 2025 – an 8 per cent decline from the same month last year. It remains one of the most feature-rich and safe offerings in the segment.
