Upcoming Mahindra BE 07 SUV To Be A More Practical & Feature-Rich Avatar Of BE 06

GaadiWaadi -

Mahindra BE07 (1)

Mahindra BE 07 will be sold with 59 kWh and 79 kWh LFP battery packs and it will share the INGLO platform with the existing trio of born-electric EVs

Mahindra is working on the production-spec BE.07 concept as the next major addition to its born-electric SUV range and it is expected to take a noticeably more practical approach than the BE 06. Built around the same INGLO electric architecture, the five-seat SUV will sit above the BE 06 while offering a more upright body, greater cabin space and a larger luggage area.

The production BE 07 will likely measures 4,565 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width and 1,660 mm in height while its wheelbase stands at 2,775 mm. Recent test vehicles point towards a more conventional SUV shape featuring a longer-looking roof, sizeable rear quarter glass and a more upright rear section. Frameless doors, flush-fitting motorised handles, large alloy wheels and a panoramic roof are also expected.

The production design will offer a more mature yet modern interpretation of the styling first seen on the concept. Mahindra is reportedly working on a triple-screen dashboard comprising three 12.3-inch displays giving the front passenger a dedicated screen alongside the digital driver’s display and central infotainment unit which the BE 06 will also receive in the forthcoming Sporteq.

Ventilated front seats, multi-zone climate control, wireless smartphone connectivity, multiple Type-C ports, connected-car functions and over-the-air software updates along with Harman Kardon audio, Dolby Atmos and an augmented-reality head-up display will be present too. The possible additional cabin space should also give the BE 07 a more family-oriented character than the BE 06.

The upright proportions and longer roof are expected to improve rear seat accommodation as well while boot capacity should also be higher than the BE 06’s relatively compact luggage area. Power will come from LFP battery packs of around 59 kWh and 79 kWh with claimed ranges of approximately 530 km and 650 km respectively alongside electric motor outputs of around 228 hp and 282 hp.

Mahindra BE07 (6)

Rear-wheel drive will be standard but the INGLO architecture does support all-wheel drive configuration as well. Charging capability could reach 175 kW allowing a 10 to 80 per cent charge in around 30 minutes. The BE 07 is expected to arrive in India next year and will rival the Tata Harrier EV and VinFast VF7. It has the potential to accompany the XEV 9e and XEV 9S in garnering good volume sales every month.

Volkswagen Compact SUV For India Confirmed To Be In The Works – Under Rs. 10 L

GaadiWaadi -

Volkswagen-Tera-2.jpg

Volkswagen compact SUV is expected to go on sale next year and it will sit on the familiar and heavily localised MQB A0 IN platform

Volkswagen is said to be developing a new compact SUV for India that could become its most important volume product in years. The project has now received global approval and is estimated to cost around 25 million euros (Rs. 275 crore). Based on the Skoda Kylaq, the upcoming model will announce Volkswagen’s return to the sub-four-metre segment giving the brand a product positioned below the Taigun

The timing is particularly significant because compact SUVs have become one of the biggest volume pools in India’s PV market. The 3.8–4.0-metre SUV segment recorded 397,609 units in Q1 FY2027 – up 24 per cent year-on-year according to industry data. July alone saw 116,552 units with 34.67 per cent growth over the same month last year.

Tata Punch led the segment at 21,313 units followed by Maruti Fronx at 19,473 and Tata Nexon at 17,471 units. The opportunity also explains why Volkswagen cannot rely solely on the Taigun and Virtus for volume. The brand has products such as the Polo GTI and Tayron serving the premium end in limited batches but their role is naturally different from a sub-four-metre SUV positioned around the Rs. 8 lakh bracket.

The Taigun and Virtus have built Volkswagen’s presence in the midsize space yet a smaller SUV could give the company access to a substantially larger customer pool. The Kylaq itself has shown that the platform can compete in this market recording 11,571 units during Q1 FY2027. The upcoming Volkswagen will share its engineering and powertrain package with the Kylaq.

The 1.0-litre TSI three-ply turbo petrol engine will be carried over – coupled with manual and automatic transmission options. One notable change is expected to be the automatic gearbox as the Volkswagen is slated to receive an eight-speed automatic from launch instead of the six-speed automatic currently offered on the Kylaq. The Kylaq is also expected to receive the newer gearbox during its next update.

The Brazilian-market Volkswagen Tera offers an indication of where the Indian project could sit in the brand’s global portfolio but the India-spec SUV is expected to receive market-specific changes. Local production should help Volkswagen target a price range of around Rs. 8 lakh to Rs. 13 lakh (ex-showroom) putting it directly against the Punch, Fronx, Nexon, Venue, XUV 3XO, Sonet and Kylaq.

2026 Skoda Slavia Facelift Teased Ahead Of Launch On August 18 In India

GaadiWaadi -

2026-Skoda-Slavia-Facelift-India-Teased.jpg

2026 Skoda Slavia will get a host of updates inside and out and it will continue with the 1.0L turbo petrol and 1.5L turbo petrol engines

Skoda Auto India has released the first teaser of the updated Slavia ahead of its August 18 launch . The teaser reveals the silhouette of the updated model and its overall profile matches the outgoing Slavia. The basic body shape, roofline and proportions remain unchanged while the revisions are expected to be on the exterior detailing, inside the cabin and on the equipment list.

The front end is set to receive the more noticeable visual changes. The facelift is expected to feature a redesigned grille that could incorporate integrated lighting elements following the treatment seen on newer Skoda models. Revised LED headlamp internals, tweaked front and rear bumpers and new alloy wheels are also expected. Changes to the rear lighting should further distinguish the updated sedan.

The cabin will receive a more substantial update than the exterior. Reports suggest that the Slavia could gain revised digital displays potentially featuring a larger driver’s screen similar to the unit introduced on the updated Kushaq. An updated touchscreen infotainment system, revised upholstery and additional comfort equipment are also likely. A rear-seat massage function has been reported as a possibility while a panoramic sunroof could also be offered.

The powertrain range will be retained as the existing 1.0-litre TSI and 1.5-litre TSI turbo petrol engines. The more significant mechanical revision could concern the automatic transmission paired with the smaller engine. The current six-speed automatic is reportedly set to be replaced by an eight-speed automatic while the 1.5-litre TSI is expected to continue using the seven-speed DSG.

Safety technology could also receive a substantial addition through an ADAS package. The existing Slavia already comes equipped with six airbags and holds a five-star Global NCAP rating so the updated model is expected to build upon it.

The facelift will continue to take on the VW Virtus, Hyundai Verna and Honda City in the midsize sedan category. Skoda is expected to position the updated model around the Rs. 11 lakh to Rs. 19 lakh (ex-showroom) range.

All-New Toyota Fortuner Hybrid Inching Closer To Global Debut – Key Details

GaadiWaadi -

Next-Gen Toyota Fortuner Rendered 1

Next generation Toyota Fortuner is expected to debut before the end of FY2026-27 gaining a new platform, hybrid technology and a heavily upgraded cabin

Toyota is bracing for the next generation Fortuner as it is expected to make its global debut before the end of the current financial year with development vehicles already undergoing testing overseas. The 7-seater SUV is expected to reach India a while after its international premiere. The overhaul will bring changes to the architecture, exterior and cabin while retaining the body-on-frame layout associated with the Fortuner.

The biggest technical change is expected underneath the skin as Toyota moves the SUV to its TNGA-F ladder-frame architecture. The same platform already underpins the latest global Hilux along with several larger Toyota SUVs. The new chassis should offer greater structural rigidity and scope for improvements to ride quality and off-road capability without straying away from the construction that has defined the Fortuner.

The revised architecture could also provide Toyota greater flexibility for electrified powertrains. Hybrid technology will be part of the next-gen Fortuner’s global powertrain portfolio. The company already sells strong hybrid models such as the Innova HyCross and Urban Cruiser Hyryder in India but the Fortuner is expected to require a different system suited to its larger dimensions and body-on-frame construction.

Speculative Rendering Based On Spy Shots

The exterior will receive a substantial redesign as well. Spy images point towards a sharper front fascia featuring slimmer LED headlamps, a larger grille and a redesigned bumper. The familiar upright and muscular stance is expected to survive but the bodywork will gain more pronounced character lines and revised proportions.

New alloy wheel designs are also expected while changes to the pillars should give the side profile a more prominent appearance without losing the Fortuner’s recognisable silhouette. The rear could receive one of the more noticeable visual changes taking cues from Toyota’s global SUVs. A full-width LED light element is expected to connect the redesigned tail lamps while Fortuner lettering across the tailgate could replace some of the conventional badging seen on the current model.

Toyota is expected to address one of the current Fortuner’s biggest shortcomings as rivals have closed the equipment gap. The new cabin could feature dual 12.3-inch screens for the digital instrument cluster and infotainment system alongside connected car functions and over-the-air software updates. Other expected additions include a panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera, upgraded climate-control system and a more extensive ADAS package.

Upcoming 7-Seater Maruti Suzuki YMC Electric MPV – Top 5 Things To Know

GaadiWaadi -

Maruti-Suzuki-YMC-Rendered-2.jpg

Maruti Suzuki’s next EV could bring three-row seating, a 500 km plus claimed range and two battery options upon arrival likely in 2027

Spy images of camouflaged Maruti Suzuki test vehicles have shed light on the brand’s upcoming seven-seat electric MPV which is internally known as the YMC. The prototype points towards a boxy body, long wheelbase and substantial rear overhang while the overall proportions suggest a vehicle measuring around 4.5 metres in length. Here are the top 5 things:

1. Large Proportions & New Design:

The YMC is expected to become Maruti Suzuki’s second electric model following the e Vitara and will target families looking for a larger battery-powered vehicle. The test mule features a high roofline, generous glass area across all three rows and a squared-off rear section. The rear profile also appears to feature vertically positioned tail lamps while the large tailgate opening should provide access to a sizeable luggage area. The front end gets a closed-off grille section,

2. Battery & Range:

The Maruti Suzuki YMC is expected to share its electric technology and underpinnings with the e Vitara including the same 49 kWh and 61 kWh battery options. The larger battery could deliver a claimed range of more than 500 km on a full charge and it will sit on the localised Heartect e platform as well. It will support DC fast charging capabilities. The equipment will also be shared between them.

3. Toyota Connection:

The alliance between Suzuki and Toyota has been flourishing across different segments especially in the domestic market. Following the same strategy, the YMC could give rise to a Toyota-based sibling in a similar fashion to how the e Vitara spawned the Urban Cruiser Ebella.

4. Production & Launch Timeline:

Production is expected to take place at Maruti Suzuki’s Gujarat facility which already manufactures the e Vitara. The plant could also serve export markets once production of the YMC begins. The electric MPV is expected to reach the market some time in 2027.

5. Pricing & Rivals:

Maruti Suzuki is expected to position the YMC below the Kia Carens Clavis EV – potentially making it one of the more accessible three-row electric vehicles for Indian families. The MG Windsor EV also provides a useful reference point for the growing appetite for spacious electric vehicles but the YMC’s three-row configuration would give it a substantially different role. Maruti Suzuki’s established presence in the MPV market through the Ertiga and XL6 could also help the YMC appeal to those moving from conventional petrol, CNG and hybrid vehicles to electric mobility.

Venue posts record quarterly sales as Hyundai prepares an affordable EV and Bayon for India while targeting 8-10 per cent volume growth

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) is banking on new products and normalised manufacturing to lift volumes through FY27 after a difficult opening quarter. The company recorded Rs. 16,334 crore in revenue during Q1 FY27 – slightly below the Rs. 16,413 crore reported in the same period last year. The April-June quarter was affected by temporary restrictions at Hyundai’s manufacturing operations – limiting domestic volume growth to 5.4 per cent year-on-year.

The Korean auto major said production has now returned to normal levels – removing one of the principal constraints that affected the first quarter. The company is targeting 8 to 10 per cent growth in combined domestic and export volumes during FY27 alongside an EBITDA margin of 11 to 14 per cent. Hyundai expects the product pipeline and improved factory output to support the targets during the remaining quarters.

The Venue has already provided an encouraging start to Hyundai’s product cycle. The latest generation recorded its highest ever quarterly domestic sales since the nameplate was introduced giving the compact SUV a telling position in Hyundai’s current lineup. The next set of products will extend into new segments. Hyundai is developing the Bayon crossover for India while a locally manufactured affordable compact electric SUV is scheduled to arrive during FY27.

The next generation Creta is also expected in India during calendar year 2027. The company has also seen rising uptake for CNG models. They accounted for 18 per cent of Hyundai’s total sales during Q1 FY27 while the Aura achieved a record 95 per cent CNG mix.

The Exter also reached its highest CNG contribution at 32 per cent. Rural markets provided another positive signal – reaching a record 26 per cent share of Hyundai’s domestic volumes during the quarter. The Creta remained the company’s biggest-selling model in India while Hyundai’s hatchback range also contributed to overall volumes.

Its exports, however, faced a separate setback. Shipments were affected by the conflict in West Asia where Hyundai has a sizeable export business. The April-June period also represented 30 years of Hyundai operations in India. Hyundai is also working on bring in strong hybrid technology to India while a seven-seater premium SUV slotted above the Alcazar has also been speculated to arrive in the coming years.
