Mahindra XUV 7XO Scores 5-Star Rating In Bharat NCAP

The Mahindra XUV 7XO has scored a 5-star safety rating in Bharat NCAP for both adult and child occupant protection. It scored 30.76 out of 32 points for adult protection and 44.97 out of 49 points for child protection.

Bharat NCAP tested the 7-seater AX7 diesel-automatic in both FWD and AWD versions. The rating, however, applies to all variants of the XUV 7XO.

Adult occupant protection: 30.76/32

The XUV 7XO scored 14.76/16 in the frontal offset crash test and a full 16/16 in the side movable barrier test.

In the frontal crash, most of the important areas of the driver and co-driver received good protection. The chest and tibia of the driver, along with the tibia of the co-driver, were rated as receiving adequate protection.

The SUV performed particularly well in the side impact test, with all critical areas receiving good protection. It also received an ‘OK’ rating in the side pole impact test.

Child occupant protection: 44.97/49

The XUV 7XO also performed strongly in the child protection tests. It scored 23.97/24 in dynamic child protection, 12/12 for child-seat installation and 9/13 in the vehicle assessment.

The test used child dummies representing 18-month-old and 3-year-old children. Both were placed in rear-facing child seats. The 3-year-old dummy scored a full 8/8 in the frontal crash, while the 18-month-old dummy scored 7.97/8. Both scored a full 4/4 in the side impact test.

The XUV 7XO comes with six airbags, ESC, traction control, hill-hold and hill-descent assist, and ISOFIX child-seat mounts as standard. Higher variants also get features such as a 360-degree camera, Level 2 ADAS and TPMS.

The XUV 7XO’s predecessor, the XUV700, had also scored 5 stars for adult protection in Global NCAP’s 2021 crash test, but received 4 stars for child protection.

Overall, the XUV 7XO continues Mahindra’s strong safety record, with a full 5-star Bharat NCAP rating for both adult and child occupant protection.

BMW Increases Prices Of F 450 GS In India – New Price List

BMW Motorrad India has raised prices of the F 450 GS by Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 30,000 with the range now starting at Rs. 4.95 lakh (ex-showroom)

BMW Motorrad India has revised prices of the F 450 GS in India with all three variants now costing more than before. The Base and Exclusive versions have each received a Rs. 25,000 increase and the GS Trophy is dearer by Rs. 30,000. BMW’s official retail price list confirms the revised ex-showroom prices at Rs. 4.95 lakh for the Base, Rs. 5.15 lakh for the Exclusive and Rs. 5.60 lakh for the GS Trophy.

The Base variant previously cost Rs. 4.70 lakh (ex-showroom), which puts the latest increase at around 5.3 per cent. The Exclusive has moved from Rs. 4.90 lakh to Rs. 5.15 lakh (ex-showroom) – an increase of around 5.1 per cent. The GS Trophy has gone from Rs. 5.30 lakh to Rs. 5.60 lakh (ex-showroom) – the largest absolute revision at Rs. 30,000 and an increase of around 5.7 per cent.

The BMW F 450 GS uses a 420 cc, liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine which is good enough to generate 48 bhp at 8,750 rpm and 43 Nm at 6,750 rpm. The adv gets a steel tubular trellis frame with KYB upside-down front forks and a directly linked KYB rear spring strut. Suspension travel stands at 180 mm while ground clearance is 220 mm. The motorcycle rides on a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel setup with 100/90 R19 and 130/80 R17 tubeless tyres.

Braking is handled by a 310 mm front disc and a 240 mm rear disc with dual-channel ABS. The F 450 GS weighs 178 kg, has an 845 mm seat height and carries a 14-litre fuel tank. Equipment list comprises a colour TFT instrument cluster, Bluetooth connectivity, traction control and multiple riding-related electronics with the GS Trophy adding adjustable Sport suspension, Gear Shift Assistant Pro and an Enduro Pro riding mode over the Base version.

BMW also offers a lower 830 mm seat as an option for riders who want easier reach to the ground. The more premium F 900 GS is currently priced at Rs. 16 lakh for Style Passion and Rs. 16.50 lakh for Style GS Trophy. The F 900 GS Adventure costs Rs. 17.50 lakh in Black and Rs. 18 lakh in White Aluminium Metallic Matt.

The R 1300 GS range stretches from Rs. 24 lakh to Rs. 28.60 lakh (ex-showroom). The same official list prices the R 1300 GS Adventure from Rs. 26.50 lakh for Racing Red to Rs. 30.05 lakh for the Option 719 version with Auto Shift. BMW also lists the C 400 GT from Rs. 11.50 lakh, CE 04 from Rs. 15.25 lakh, S 1000 R from Rs. 22.25 lakh, R 12 from Rs. 22.50 lakh and R 12 nineT from Rs. 23.50 lakh (ex-showroom).

10 Upcoming Compact SUVs Worth Waiting For In India

Mahindra Vision S, Hyundai’s compact EV, next-gen Nexon and Sonet, Volkswagen Tera and several other SUVs are lined up over the next two years

Mahindra will add a new nameplate to the compact SUV field as the production version of the Vision S concept is currently under development. The SUV is expected to sit between the XUV 3XO and Scorpio N and will ride on the modular NU_IQ monocoque architecture. Its upright proportions should separate it visually from the XUV 3XO and reports point to 1.2-litre turbo petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines.

Volkswagen could also enter this space sometime next year with the Tera. The compact SUV is expected to share the MQB A0 IN architecture seen on locally manufactured Volkswagen Group models and could retain the familiar 1.0-litre TSI turbo petrol engine. Equipment list could be shared with the Skoda Kylaq and styling may carry cues associated with the Taigun.

Hyundai has two additions lined up across closely related size classes. An India-specific electric compact SUV will arrive before the end of this calendar year and is expected to target a real-world range of around 500 km. It will compete with the Tata Punch EV and Mahindra XUV 3XO EV. The slightly larger Bayon is also due shortly and will give Hyundai another SUV between its current compact and midsize offerings.

Honda and Renault will enter later in the product cycle. Honda’s compact SUV is expected in early 2028 and could share its architecture with the latest Amaze. A 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine is possible initially with hybrid technology also under consideration. Renault’s Bridger is scheduled around the end of 2027 and could feature a 48-volt mild-hybrid powertrain.

Tata Motors will renew one of its biggest compact SUV nameplates as the Nexon is in for a brand new generation. Reports point to a longer wheelbase and substantially different exterior styling compared with the current model. Turbo petrol, CNG and electric derivatives are expected to feature in the powertrain lineup enabling Tata several propulsion choices under the same moniker.

Kia has already expanded its compact SUV portfolio with the Syros EV this year and the next-generation Sonet will showcase the next major change. Test prototypes have already been spotted with reports pointing to a new architecture, increased dimensions, a thoroughly redesigned cabin and extra safety equipment. VinFast will target the lower end of the electric SUV category with the VF 3. It offers an 18.6 kWh battery in its international specification.

Maruti Suzuki has already introduced the updated Brezza leaving the Fronx as its next apparent compact SUV revision. A mid-cycle update is expected in the near future as competition intensifies across the category. With new nameplates from Mahindra, Hyundai, Volkswagen, Honda and Renault joining redesigned versions of the Nexon and Sonet, the compact SUV category is set for a substantial reshuffle over the next two years.

Hyundai Bayon Name Confirmed For India, More Details Coming Soon

The new global SUV will join Hyundai’s Indian lineup with the company set to reveal further details in the coming days

Hyundai Motor India has confirmed Bayon as the name of its upcoming SUV for the Indian market. The new global model will join the company’s existing SUV portfolio with additional details scheduled for announcement over the coming days. The Bayon name comes from Bayonne, a city in the French Basque Country.

Hyundai says the inspiration fits the character it wants to give the upcoming SUV with the name linked to the city’s distinctive identity and dynamic spirit. The company has also tied the name to its global design philosophy and the introduction of a new SUV developed for changing requirements in India.

Hyundai describes the Bayon as an “intelligent SUV” and says technology will sit at the centre of the product. The company has not specified the systems or features that will support that description yet. The announcement instead points to a focus on intuitive technology, design and customer interaction.

The Bayon will become a new addition to Hyundai’s Indian SUV lineup instead of replacing an existing nameplate based on the company’s announcement. Hyundai has not confirmed where the model will sit within its current range but we can expect it to slot above Venue and below Creta. Details regarding its body dimensions, seating configuration and mechanical package are also absent from the initial release.

The Bayon has already been spotted testing under the Bc4i codename and it could measure 4.18 metres in length. Spy images have pointed towards a quirky design with an upright and boxier body than the global Bayon, sleek lighting elements and DRLs, dual curved screen on the inside that could be shared with the Venue, etc. As for the performance, a new 1.2L turbo petrol and 1.0L turbo petrol unit could be utilised.

Combat To Be The Name Of JSW’s First PHEV SUV For India, Launch Soon

The Jetour T2-based five-seater SUV is expected to debut during the festive season with local assembly planned at JSW’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar facility

JSW Motors is expected to name its first independently branded passenger vehicle ‘Combat’ as it prepares to enter India’s car market during the festive season. The five-seat SUV will be based on the Chery-owned Jetour T2 and feature a plug-in hybrid powertrain. JSW plans local assembly at its Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar facility in Maharashtra as well.

The Combat will also establish JSW Motors as a separate passenger vehicle business from JSW MG Motor India. JSW already operates in the automotive sector through its joint venture with SAIC Motor but the new SUV will carry JSW’s own branding. Combat is among several names trademarked by the company alongside Adventura, Cadet, Urbanique, Dominor, Sereno and Eleve.

Its Jetour T2 origins give the upcoming SUV a distinctly rugged profile. The global T2 i-DM measures 4,785 mm in length with its spare-wheel cover, 2,006 mm in width and 1,875 mm in height, with a 2,800 mm wheelbase. Ground clearance stands at 205 mm. The boxy body features an upright nose, squared wheel arches, short overhangs and a rear-mounted spare wheel with approach and departure angles of 28 degrees and 30 degrees.

The global T2 i-DM combines a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine with an electric motor system and a three-speed dedicated hybrid transmission. Its 26.7 kWh LFP battery supports a claimed electric-only range of 139 km under the NEDC cycle. Jetour quotes 0.8 litres per 100 km for combined NEDC fuel consumption and 5.4 litres per 100 km with a depleted battery. JSW has not confirmed whether these figures will carry over unchanged to the India-spec Combat.

Underneath, the international T2 i-DM has a monocoque construction with MacPherson front suspension and a multi-link rear setup. The listed global specification rides on 255/55 R20 tyres and has ventilated front discs, rear disc brakes and an electronic parking brake. Safety equipment includes front, side and curtain airbags, ABS, EBD, brake assist, traction control, electronic stability control, tyre pressure monitoring and ISOFIX mounts.

JSW intends to assemble the Combat locally with initial component supplies expected from China before localisation increases. Earlier reports have pointed to local production of items including the battery pack, body steel, electric motor, seats, glass and tyres with battery cells among the components expected to come from overseas initially. The company has also been linked with future products based on Chery iCar and Jaecoo J5 architectures.

Hyundai Developing Multiple New SUVs For India – EV, Hybrid & ICE

An India-specific electric SUV will arrive later this year with the next-gen Creta, another midsize SUV and several other models also part of Hyundai’s product plan

Hyundai has mapped out 26 new launches and major model updates for India over the next four years based electric, hybrid and conventional powertrains. The programme extends across several vehicle categories and includes an India-specific electric SUV, the fourth-gen Creta, another midsize SUV with ICE engines and so on. Additional manufacturing capacity and higher local sourcing will support the expanded product lineup.

The first big arrival from this schedule will be Hyundai’s India-specific electric SUV due during the festive season later this year. Developed specifically for the local market, the model will enter a high volume segment and feature Hyundai’s next-generation Pleos-based infotainment technology. Level 2 assisted driving functions are also confirmed.

Reports suggest two battery pack are likely with a claimed driving range of more than 500 km. The fourth generation Creta is another significant part of Hyundai’s future lineup and is already under development. An early 2027 introduction is expected with reports pointing towards a strong-hybrid powertrain alongside conventional engine options.

Hyundai Bayon

If introduced, it could become Hyundai’s first full-hybrid model in India. Previous reports also noted that a three-row SUV codenamed Ni1i is also a possibility. The company is also expected to introduce the Bayon which would slot between the Venue and Creta. India accounts for part of a much larger global product programme from Hyundai.

More than 100 new models and substantial updates are planned internationally over a similar period with battery-electric, hybrid and extended-range electric powertrains included in that schedule. Hyundai’s first global EREV is scheduled for the first half of 2027. The product expansion will be backed by additional manufacturing capability in India.

Hyundai currently has annual production capacity of around 11 lakh vehicles and plans to add another 3.20 lakh units by 2030. Local sourcing is targeted at 90 per cent by the end of the decade. More than 1,400 companies already supply Hyundai’s Indian operations and its local engineering workforce exceeds 900 people. Hyundai also expects India to account for a substantial share of its overseas shipments through the end of the decade.

JSW To Launch Multiple New Electric Cars In India: Here’s What We Know

The new Indian carmaker plans 15 new-energy vehicles in four years, with the first model expected to arrive by the end of 2026

JSW is preparing for a major entry into India’s passenger car market, and electric vehicles will be at the centre of its strategy. Through its new independent automotive venture, JSW Motors, the company plans to launch as many as 15 new-energy vehicles over the next four years, covering multiple segments and powertrain technologies. The first model is expected to arrive towards the end of 2026, with deliveries likely to begin between December 2026 and early 2027.

Unlike JSW’s existing association with MG Motor India, these vehicles will be sold under a new JSW brand. The company plans to unveil the brand around Diwali, with bookings for the first model expected to open in November. JSW says it wants to introduce roughly one new model every three months, which would make this one of the most aggressive product expansion plans by a new Indian carmaker.

The first product is expected to be a premium SUV priced above Rs 35 lakh, and reports suggest it could be based on the Jetour T2 from China’s Chery group. This will be followed by a model in the Rs 18 to Rs 20 lakh range. JSW is also testing the Jaecoo J5 and the iCaur V23. These models have been spotted testing multiple times. Production ready models will be lauched soon after the debut of the Jetour. JSW has also indicated that its eventual portfolio will stretch from around Rs 10 to Rs 12 lakh all the way to Rs 30 lakh-plus, allowing it to compete across several segments rather than becoming a niche premium manufacturer.

The company isn’t planning to develop every vehicle from scratch. Instead, JSW is working with global technology partners, including Chery, to access existing vehicle architectures and powertrain technology and then localise these products for India. This approach should allow the company to bring new models to market considerably faster than a traditional clean-sheet development programme. JSW has also been exploring multiple Chinese brands and platforms as part of this strategy.

While electric vehicles will be a major part of the portfolio, JSW isn’t limiting itself to battery-electric cars. The company’s broader NEV strategy includes EVs, hybrids, plug-in hybrids and range-extender electric vehicles. This is significant because JSW believes Indian customers will increasingly want different electrified powertrain options rather than being forced into a pure-EV choice.

Production will take place at JSW’s upcoming facility in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra. The first phase is planned with an annual capacity of around 5 lakh vehicles, with the possibility of eventually doubling this to one million units. JSW is also building a local supplier ecosystem around the facility, with localisation expected to become increasingly important as the product range expands.
