Tata Sierra EV will receive a dual motor configuration enabling an e-AWD system; expected to launch in early 2026 in India

Tata Motors has pulled the production wraps off the new Sierra ICE in India reviving one of its iconic nameplates. With a starting price of Rs. 11.49 lakh (ex-showroom), the SUV enters a fiercely competitive space where it will go head-to-head with segment leaders like the Hyundai Creta. Bookings are scheduled to open from December 16 with the first customer deliveries planned for mid-January 2026.

The Sierra is being retailed in seven trims namely Smart+, Pure, Pure+, Adventure, Adventure+, Accomplished and Accomplished+ with six exterior colour options. The nameplate has been associated with luxury as well as versatile capability in the good old days and thus many enthusiasts always wanted an all-wheel drive configuration out of the new model.

The homegrown manufacturer has confirmed that an all-wheel-drive setup will be introduced later as the upcoming electric version of the new Sierra will feature a twin electric motor setup. Expected to share its battery packs with the Harrier EV, the Sierra EV could target a range of more than 500 km between charges and it will support bidirectional charging as well.

As for the ICE version, an AWD variant has not been ruled out indicating that it could be available in the future and works on it might have already begun. Currently, customers can choose between two petrol engines and one diesel motor option. The naturally aspirated 1.5-litre Revotron NA petrol unit produces 106 PS and 145 Nm while the new 1.5-litre TGDi turbo GDI delivers a much stronger 160 PS and 255 Nm.

Meanwhile, the 1.5-litre diesel develops 120 PS with torque outputs going up to 280 Nm. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed torque converter automatic and a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox. At it sits on Tata’s modular ARGOS platform, developed to support future body styles and multiple powertrain options, more tailored variants and perhaps seating configurations are likely.

Mahindra XEV 9S To Launch Tomorrow In India – All Key Details

GaadiWaadi -

Mahindra-XEV-9S-Teaser.jpg

Mahindra XEV 9S will be launched on November 27, 2025 and it will be packed with comfort and entertainment oriented features

Mahindra & Mahindra’s electric portfolio is about to expand into family territory with the XEV 9S making its official debut on November 27, 2025 in Bengaluru. It will be the brand’s first fully-electric three-row SUV positioned alongside its born electric models. The XEV 9S carries its own visual identity with a sealed front fascia, a prominent LED lighting layout with a connected light bar and distinctive C-shaped signatures.

The overall design is heavily inspired by the XUV.e8 concept showcased a few years ago. While its influence is more than apparent, its proportions and side profile as well as the rear silhouette remind us a lot about the XUV 700. Stepping inside though, the cabin follows Mahindra’s latest design philosophy found in the XEV 9e and BE 6.

A three-screen layout stretches across the dashboard, combining the instrument display, infotainment and a co-passenger screen. The interior theme is rather simplified with a two-spoke steering wheel design and a clean-looking centre console and dashboard. Mahindra has confirmed that the second row will feature reclining seats along with a boss mode for additional legroom.

Adding to the sense of space is a large panoramic glass roof which extends across most of the cabin. Interestingly, instead of fixed rear seat entertainment screens, the company is introducing a BYOD system – allowing rear passengers to mount their own tablets in dedicated holders. Along with this, the Mahindra XEV 9S will also offer both a conventional rear boot and an additional front storage compartment.

Underneath, the SUV is built on Mahindra’s INGLO skateboard architecture, already used for its born electric duo of XEV 9e and BE 6. Being a longer and heavier space conscious three-row vehicle, it may have a slightly revised suspension tuning. While official figures are yet to be divulged, the company is believed to target a real-world driving range that comfortably crosses the 500 km mark on a single charge.

On the technology and safety front, the Mahindra XEV 9S will come loaded. Expect Level 2 ADAS, six airbags as standard, ventilated and power-adjustable front seats with memory function, a powered tailgate, connected car features, wireless charging and a premium Harman Kardon sound system. Its detailed specifications, variants and pricing details will be revealed tomorrow during the official launch.

New gen Tata Sierra is available with two petrol and one diesel engine options in an expansive range; packed with several premium features

Tata Motors has officially reintroduced the Sierra nameplate in its new avatar as the IC-engined version finally steps into the midsize SUV market years after its first showcase in concept form. The new-gen Sierra has been made available in an expansive range and is priced from Rs. 11.49 lakh (ex-showroom). Retailed in Smart+, Pure, Pure+, Adventure, Adventure+, Accomplished and Accomplished+ trims, its bookings will begin on December 16 before the commencement of deliveries in mid-January 2026.

A total of 6 colours have been presented. It slots above the Curvv coupe in the brand’s domestic portfolio and is equipped with two petrol and one diesel engine option. The all-new 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine kicks out 160 PS maximum power and 255 Nm of peak torque while the well-known 1.5-litre diesel mill kicks out 120 PS and up to 280 Nm. Both six-speed manual, six-speed torque converter AT and DCT auto have been made available.

The NA petrol mill makes 106 PS and 145 Nm. Tata admitted that putting together the new Sierra taking inspiration from the original model has been a massive challenge and it boasts the industry’s slimmest headlamps. A head-on collision conduced between two Sierras further cemented its safety credentials in the presentation as it will apparently target five stars in NCAP crash tests.

Mahindra Thar, Scorpio & XUV 700 Nameplates To See Huge Expansion

GaadiWaadi -

Mahindra Vision.T

Mahindra Thar, Scorpio and XUV 700 nameplates are all set to see major revisions and upgrades over the next couple of years in India

Mahindra & Mahindra appears to be reshaping its future around the nameplates that built its reputation. Besides going after new badges, the company is upgrading its popular names – Thar, Scorpio and XUV700 – as they will receive extensive updates, new propulsion systems and more over the next few years as part of expanding their respective lineups.

The electric transition sits at the centre of this strategy. The XEV 9S, which draws heavily from the XUV.e8 concept, will be launched in a couple of days and it will become the brand’s maiden three-row electric SUV. Positioned almost alongside the XEV 9e and BE 6, it combines familiar XUV700 design cues with EV-specific body elements seen in the aforementioned concept.

Alongside this, the XUV 700 ICE itself is due for a significant refresh. While its stance and proportions will remain unchanged, Mahindra is working on minor cosmetic revisions. The more substantial changes will take place inside the cabin though. A completely reworked dashboard is under development, centred around a wide triple-screen layout – one for the driver, one for infotainment and a dedicated display for the front passenger.

Mahindra-Vision-S-2.jpg

New interior colour themes, trim options and enhanced material quality will accompany the changes as the model is set to go on sale in January 2026. The Vision S concept previewed a more compact interpretation of the Scorpio N – moving away from traditional body-on-frame foundations. The more upmarket Scorpio will sit on the NU_IQ platform.

A monocoque structure will be utilised and a more road-focused character while retaining the brand’s tough image. Although spy images have surfaced online multiple times in recent times, we do expect it to launch only later next year or early 2027. The Thar nameplate is also being carried into the electric era. Mahindra’s Vision T concept showcased a battery-powered evolution of the 5-door Thar Roxx recently.

It maintained the slab-sided design and upright stance while integrating modern EV styling elements. It clearly showed the brand’s intention to electrify its lifestyle portfolio. Built on the NU_IQ architecture, the Thar EV is expected to offer multiple battery options along with a dual-motor setup enabling a four-wheel drive system.

Hyundai’s Hybrid Game Plan For India – 3 SUVs In The Pipeline

GaadiWaadi -

2025-Hyundai-Palisade-1.jpg

Hyundai is expected to bring in as many as 3 new SUVs over the next 2-3 years in India and here we have brought you the key details

Hyundai is building a new range of hybrids for India alongside electric vehicles as three key SUVs are being linked to strong hybrid powertrains over the next few years. The roadmap reportedly includes the next generation Creta, an all-new three-row premium SUV and one global flagship that may follow later and here is what we know!

The biggest volume driver in this plan will be the next-gen Creta. Internally known as SX3, the new model is already under development and will sit on an all-new platform. Expect subtle changes to its overall proportions, sharper exterior design and a completely redesigned interior layout to keep it fresh against growing competition in the midsize SUV space.

Under the hood, Hyundai could continue with its familiar 1.5-litre petrol, turbo petrol and diesel engines. However, the major update will be the introduction of a strong hybrid system based on the naturally aspirated 1.5-litre petrol motor. This hybrid setup is being developed specifically to meet stricter emission norms and improve fuel efficiency.

Hyundai Tucson Hybrid
Global Tucson Hybrid

It will likely help Creta expand its range as the electric version is already on sale. The product launch timeline is expected to stretch into 2027. The Creta EV facelift will reportedly follow after the new ICE Creta arrives – indicating that Hyundai wants to stabilise its hybrid and petrol lineup before refreshing its electric offerings in the segment.

Alongside the hybrid Creta, Hyundai is working on a new three-row SUV, internally referred to as Ni1i. It is expected to be positioned between the Alcazar and the now-discontinued Tucson – targetting customers looking for more space and a more upmarket feel than the Alcazar offers. It is also expected to use a hybrid-ready version of the 1.5-litre petrol engine and could arrive around the same 2027 period.

On the broader product front, Hyundai recently introduced the new generation Venue and is preparing a compact electric SUV based on the global Inster for a possible 2026 launch in India. Heavy localisation is part of the plan with some of these future models expected to be exported to other markets as well.

2026-Kia-Palisade-Hybrid-SUV-2.jpg

Finally, the global Palisade Hybrid remains a possible option for India. It would sit at the top of Hyundai’s local SUV lineup as a flagship hybrid offering. Internationally, it gets a 2.5-litre turbo petrol engine paired with an electric motor producing 334 hp and 460 Nm while also delivering fuel efficiency claimed to be above 14 kmpl despite its size. A potential India debut could happen closer to 2028.
