New gen Toyota RAV4 features a redesigned exterior, revised powertrains, sharper chassis tuning and extended driving range
The sixth-generation Toyota RAV4 arrives as an electrified midsize SUV built exclusively with hybrid and plug-in hybrid drivetrains for Europe. The major technical evolution for one of Toyota’s global bestsellers features revised powertrains, sharper chassis tuning, extended electric driving range and a suite of new digital and safety systems.
Available in front- and all-wheel-drive layouts, the latest RAV4 will also be available with a GR Sport variant. It features a 20-millimetre wider rear track, a reinforced rear cross-member and dedicated spring and damper tuning that sharpen cornering response and body control. It also runs on exclusive 20-inch alloy wheels with performance tyres and adopts sportier design cues compared to the regular model.
Toyota engineers have recalibrated the suspension specifically for the sporty variant to deliver more agile turn-in and flatter handling. The plug-in hybrid RAV4 boasts a significantly upgraded 22.7 kWh lithium-ion battery, replacing the outgoing model’s 18.1 kWh unit. The new battery enables up to 100 kilometres of electric-only driving on the WLTP cycle.

A new 11 kW AC onboard charger reduces charging times by nearly half while DC fast charging at 50 kW allows a 10 to 80 per cent top-up in just around 30 minutes. The all-wheel-drive PHEV version now generates 304 hp thanks to a more powerful front motor and improved system cooling. It sprints from 0 to 100 kmph in just 5.8 seconds.
A new cooling circuit switching system ensures stable battery temperatures across seasons according to Toyota. A front-wheel-drive PHEV joins the range as well, offering 268 hp.
Toyota has also made targeted improvements to the hybrid variants. The front-wheel-drive hybrid now delivers 183 hp while the all-wheel-drive version outputs 191 hp.

New electric motors and transaxles along with upgraded inverters enhance thermal management and allow for better energy recovery and linear throttle response. The braking system has also been recalibrated to optimise regenerative braking, particularly on the plug-in models. Supporting this powertrain evolution is a stiffer, more responsive chassis based on Toyota’s TNGA-K platform.
All variants benefit from better weight distribution and updated AWD system as well which improves traction under acceleration and during lane changes. On the inside, the new RAV4 gains a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster pairs, a 12.9-inch centre display powered by Toyota’s latest Arene OS, Over-the-air updates, etc.

Toyota T-Mate, the brand’s umbrella for active safety and driver assistance, has also been upgraded. Radar and camera improvements now enable the Pre-Collision System to detect cyclists, motorcycles and oncoming vehicles with greater accuracy. Moreover, new features like Front Cross Traffic Alert and Secondary Collision Brake have also been included.
