Tata Harrier EV2

The all-electric SUV will be the first Tata EV to come with an all-wheel-drive (AWD) system in the Indian market

Tata Harrier EV will finally go on sale from June 3, 2025 in the Indian market. However, ahead of the official launch, it has been spotted undisguised on Mumbai-Pune Expressway doing high speed test runs. The test unit of the electric SUV was captured on camera in a white paint scheme and red number plate with Maharashtra registration, confirming that it will be locally developed at the brand’s Pune factory alongside the ICE version. Tata Harrier EV will directly rival Mahindra XEV 9e while priced in a range of Rs 25-30 lakh (ex-showroom).

Underpinning the acti.ev Gen 2 EV architecture, it will be the first electric vehicle from Tata to get the all-wheel-drive system. Though the brand fondly addresses it as ‘Quad Wheel Drive (QWD)’. The spy images reveal that the charging port has been positioned near the rear wheel on the right side while the electric SUV is riding on the same set of alloy wheels as we saw on the production-spec version at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo.

The e-SUV will have an electric motor mounted on each axle and with this dual-motor setup it is believed to deliver a torque performance of 500 Nm. We have learnt that the Harrier EV will also boast of multiple terrain modes to further amplify the performance on different surfaces. It is not official but we are likely to get off-road, snow and rain modes.

In addition, as exhibited by Tata Motors at the Auto Expo earlier this year, the all-electric SUV will also come with a ‘Summon Mode’ which can be used for self-parking. The Harrier EV will be equipped with a multi-link rear suspension as compared to the ICE model’s torsion beam rear unit. The battery pack details are not revealed yet, but we expect a 60-75 kWh unit for a driving range of 500+ km on a full charge.

The Pune-based two-wheeler brand will offer Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging functions in the higher variants. Furthermore, top-notch safety equipment will be on-board the e-SUV in the form of 7-airbags, hill hold assist, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), 360 degree camera, blind spot monitoring and Level 2 ADAS suite.
