The upcoming Royal Enfield hybrid motorcycle, with a CFMoto-sourced 250cc engine, is likely to return a mileage of 50+ kmpl upon its launch in India
We earlier told you that Royal Enfield is planning to introduce an entry-level premium motorcycle in the Indian market. It is in advanced talks with China-based CFMoto for the 250cc engine which will be presented with hybrid tech. Royal Enfield hybrid motorcycle is likely to be positioned below the Hunter 350 while priced around Rs 1.30 lakh (ex-showroom). Though details are scarce at the moment, it is learnt that the 250cc hybrid bike could have a fuel efficiency of up to 50 kmpl, which will be highest for any RE till date.
The 250cc hybrid powertrain will meet the BS6 Phase II emission norms which are currently in effect in India. In fact, this engine is also said to be compliant with the upcoming Corporate Average Fuel Efficiency (CAFÉ) regulations in the country. The CFMoto 250cc engine is compact, mileage friendly and can be configured with a hybrid setup.
People closer to the development have indicated that Royal Enfield and CFMoto could agree on a technical partnership with no cross badging of bikes and joint ventures. A final decision on this could come in the first half of 202royal6. Besides the engine, Royal Enfield will take care of everything such as chassis, styling and suspension. The 250cc platform, which is under development, has been codenamed as V.

Recently, top executives at Royal Enfield traveled to China for the Shanghai Auto Show. It has been learnt that the RE officials had extensive discussions with CFMoto and other technical suppliers regarding the 250cc engine. The Chennai-based two-wheeler brand aims to tap the first-time premium buyers who upgrade from 100-150cc bikes to a more premium model with the new 250cc motorcycle.
Royal Enfield is also updating its Chennai production facility for the new hybrid bike. The brand aims to achieve 85-90 percent of localization with the 250cc motorcycle in order to price it aggressively. The company has set an annual production target of 2 million units from the current capacity of 1 million by 2030. Though it looks highly ambitious yet realistic.

Apart from the 250cc hybrid motorcycle, Royal Enfield is also working on a slew of new bikes. It is readying a bigger portfolio of 750cc engine capacity bikes for the Indian market, which we will get to see by the end of 2025. The company is also developing its first-ever all-electric motorcycle under the Flying Flea sub-brand. The first electric bike, Flying Flea C6, will be launched before March 2026 in India.
