Mahindra continued to be the country’s second largest PV brand in May 2025 with sales exceeding the 50k mark and a YoY growth of 21.3 percent
Mahindra & Mahindra retained the position of country’s second largest passenger vehicle brand in May 2025 sales behind Maruti Suzuki. However, the brand witnessed a significant YoY growth of 21.3 percent with volumes of 52,431 units against the 43,218 units sold during the same month last year. The company also managed to increase its market share from 12.4 percent to 15 percent. The most significant contribution in this phenomenal sales performance came from the Thar SUV with sales of 10k+ units at a stellar YoY growth of 81 percent.
Mahindra Scorpio, as usual, continued its golden patch with sales of 14,401 units in May 2025. It was the fifth best-selling model in the list of top 10 passenger vehicles last month. The company had retailed 13,717 units of the SUV in May 2024. Mahindra sold a total of 10,389 units of the Thar and Thar Roxx, which is up from 5,750 units in May 2024.
Mahindra Bolero, the veteran warhorse, too had a decent time with 8,942 units being retailed in May 2025. The sales witnessed a YoY rise by 11 percent as 8,026 units were sold during the same month last year. The XUV 3XO, however, registered a YoY decline in sales by 20 percent as numbers went down to 7,952 units in May 2025 from 10,000 units in May 2024.

The brand’s flagship model, the XUV 7OO recorded a YoY growth of 28 percent with volumes of 6,435 units as compared to 5,008 units in May 2024. The recently launched born-electric SUV models, the BE 6 and XEV 9e, registered sales of 1,206 units and 2,815 units, respectively, in May 2025. Mahindra is leaving no stone unturned in reducing the waiting period of both these all-electric SUVs by ramping up the production at its Chakan facility in Maharashtra.
The brand’s yet another all-electric SUV, the XUV 4OO, didn’t live up to Mahindra’s expectations with dismal sales numbers of 287 units against 701 units sold in May 2024. Last but not the least, only 4 units of the Marazzo MPV were sold as compared to the 16 units retailed during the same month last year. The Pune-based two-wheeler brand has already ceased the production of the Marazzo MPV and a few units are still in dealer inventory.

Mahindra is all set to unveil new models later this year on Aug 15, 2025. The company will present the Bolero Neo facelift and a new platform concept on the occasion of India’s 79th Independence Day. It has been learnt that the 2025 Bolero Neo facelift will come with six airbags as standard while donning a completely new body shell. The new platform, debuting on Aug 15, 2025, will be able to spawn petrol, diesel, hybrid and all-electric models.
