Honda ZR-V

Honda ZR-V Hybrid is brought into the country via CBU route from Japan and it boasts a claimed fuel economy of 22.80 kmpl

Honda Cars India has received an encouraging response to the newly launched ZR-V Hybrid with the first two batch allocations for the domestic market already sold out. While the company has not disclosed the number of units included in either batch, it has confirmed that another consignment is being planned. However, a timeline for the arrival of the third batch is yet to be announced.

Deliveries of the premium hybrid SUV began immediately after Honda announced its introductory price of Rs. 47.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) this past Saturday. Imported from Japan as a Completely Built Unit (CBU), the ZR-V Hybrid now serves as Honda’s flagship SUV in India and joins the City’s strong hybrid technology in the company’s electrified portfolio.

Globally, the ZR-V has been on sale since 2022 and has recorded cumulative sales of more than 8 lakh units. Honda is banking on that international success as it expands its presence in India’s premium SUV segment where hybrid tech continues to lure in consumers seeking an alternative to conventional petrol and diesel powertrains.

Powering the ZR-V Hybrid is Honda’s 2.0-litre direct-injection Atkinson-cycle petrol engine coupled with a dual-motor hybrid system and an e-CVT. The powertrain develops a combined 184 PS and 315 Nm while the company claims a fuel efficiency of 22.80 kmpl. The Japanese auto major also quotes a 0 to 100 kmph sprint time of 7.9 seconds.

Depending on driving conditions, the system automatically switches between Electric, Hybrid and Engine Drive modes. The SUV is equipped with features including full-LED lighting, 18-inch alloy wheels, a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 10.2-inch fully digital instrument cluster, a 12-speaker Bose audio system, wireless smartphone charging and dual-zone climate control.

Honda’s Sensing suite of Level 2 ADAS comprises functions such as Collision Mitigation Braking System, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist System and Road Departure Mitigation System while eight airbags, a 360-degree camera and front and rear parking sensors, etc are also available. For prospective customers, the next opportunity to secure the ZR-V Hybrid will depend on the arrival of the third allocation. We do expect to see them localise the SUV in the future to bring the price down.
