2026 BMW 7 Series has been confirmed to be available in ICE and all-electric forms; gets a host of additions inside and out

BMW has opened pre-launch bookings for the facelifted 7 Series ahead of its official arrival in the domestic market. Customers can reserve the flagship luxury sedan from today through BMW dealerships across India or by registering their interest on the company’s official website. The updated lineup will be offered with both internal combustion and all-electric powertrains.

The facelifted 7 Series made its global debut in April 2026 with a comprehensive package of design revisions, new technologies and BMW’s latest Neue Klasse innovations. As the brand’s flagship sedan since its global debut in 1977, the 7 Series has consistently introduced technologies that later find their way across the BMW portfolio.

The electric versions now utilise sixth generation eDrive technology paired with cylindrical battery cells delivering a claimed WLTP driving range of more than 720 km. The system is complemented by intelligent route planning, adaptive energy recuperation and integrated charging management created to optimise efficiency during long drives.

BMW has also upgraded the driving technology. Adaptive two-axle air suspension is fitted as standard while buyers can specify Integral Active Steering and advanced chassis control systems. The latest Symbiotic Drive suite introduces AI-assisted driver assistance functions capable of navigation-assisted urban driving, hands-free highway driving at speeds of up to 130 kmph and enhanced automated parking functions.

The exterior receives a sharper appearance while retaining the familiar shape of the seventh generation model. An illuminated BMW Kidney Iconic Glow grille dominates the front fascia accompanied by slim crystal-effect headlamps and revised lighting signatures at the rear. Consumers can choose between M Sport and M Sport Pro packages while BMW Individual personalisation adds dual-tone paint finishes and alloy wheels ranging from 20 inches to 22 inches.

On the inside, BMW has introduced one of the biggest cabin upgrades seen on the model. Premium leather, wood, metal and glass surfaces are paired with a cleaner dashboard layout centred around the new Panoramic iDrive interface running BMW Operating System X. A new passenger display joins the digital cockpit.

Rear seat occupants receive equal attention as the upgraded Theatre Screen now supports 8K streaming accompanied by a Bowers & Wilkins audio system featuring Dolby Atmos. Executive Lounge seating, four-zone climate control, ambient lighting and a panoramic glass roof are other highlights. The current BMW 7 Series is sold in India in 740i M Sport and 740d M Sport forms at around Rs. 1.83 crore while the i7 costs Rs. 2.05 crore for its base trim (ex-showroom).
