BMW iX3 L (LWB) debuts in China with a 108 mm longer wheelbase, up to 919 km CLTC range and three electric powertrain options
The BMW iX3 L has made its debut in China as the long-wheelbase derivative of the Neue Klasse electric SUV ahead of its planned arrival in India. The extended version measures 4,885 mm in length and gets a 3,005 mm wheelbase while the range consists of three variants: 30L, 40L xDrive and 50L xDrive. BMW has also introduced a larger 113.4 kWh battery for the flagship version which claims up to 919 km of range on the CLTC cycle.
The biggest battery sits in the 50L xDrive which couples the 113.4 kWh pack with dual electric motors. The system generates 469 PS and 645 Nm taking the electric SUV from 0 to 100 kmph in 4.9 seconds. The 40L xDrive gets an 86.9 kWh battery and develops 374 PS and 565 Nm while its claimed acceleration time stands at 5.6 seconds. The newly added 30L takes a different approach – utilising a 77 kWh LFP battery with a single RWD motor that makes 265 PS and 500 Nm.
Range varies considerably across the three versions. BMW quotes 630 km for the 30L, 702 km for the 40L and 919 km for the 50L under China’s CLTC testing cycle. The figures should not be treated as equivalent to WLTP results particularly because the longer body adds weight over the standard iX3. The global iX3 40 and iX3 50 claim up to 636 km and 805 km respectively under WLTP.

The charging tech uses BMW’s latest 800V architecture across the range. The 40L supports up to 300 kW DC charging while the 50L can accept as much as 400 kW. BMW quotes approximately 21 minutes for a 10 to 80 per cent charge on both versions while the 30L requires around 22 minutes. AC charging is considerably more limited at 7 kW on the 30L and 40L and 11 kW on the 50L.
The extended proportions are primarily intended to improve rear seat accommodation. The overall length is 103 mm more than the standard model. Longer rear doors accompany the stretched body while China-spec cars also receive 22-inch wheels, conventional pull-up door handles and an L-shaped detail on the rear quarter glass.

BMW carries its latest Panoramic iDrive interface into the iX3 L. The setup combines a 17.9-inch central touchscreen and a 43.3-inch Panoramic Vision display that extends across the dashboard. The 40L and 50L also receive a 3D head-up display as standard. China-specific equipment includes ventilated front seats, heated front and rear seats, a massaging driver’s seat and thicker seat cushions.
Rear passengers can recline their seats to 121 degrees while the 50L gets a front passenger leg rest. Prices in China start at 269,900 yuan for the 30L which is followed by 299,900 yuan for the 40L xDrive and 339,900 yuan for the 50L xDrive. Besides China, the BMW iX3 Long Wheelbase has already been planned for selected international markets including Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and India.
