New Maruti Suzuki Baleno is expected to get styling revisions, more equipment, CNG-AMT combo and expected ADAS features
Maruti Suzuki will launch the updated Baleno in India on September 5, 2026 – the first substantial update since the second generation model arrived over four years ago. The facelift will get revised exterior styling, additional equipment and important changes to the powertrain range. The CNG version will likely gain an automatic gearbox for the first time in a Maruti Suzuki while the Baleno could also introduce advanced driver assistance features to the premium hatchback segment.
The powertrain range may not retain a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine as Maruti Suzuki could replace the existing four-cylinder unit with the three-cylinder Z-series motor found in the latest Dzire and Swift. The bigger change will come to the CNG transmission options as the facelifted Baleno will reportedly couple the factory-fitted CNG system with an AMT gearbox.
A five-speed manual transmission will continue alongside it while the CNG and AMT combination is expected on the Delta and Zeta variants. The front end is expected to receive the most significant changes centred around a redesigned grille that could feature a horizontal chrome element linking the headlamp units. The existing boomerang-shaped LED daytime running lamps are likely to remain while a revised bumper should complete the updated front profile.

New alloy wheels should provide the primary change along the sides with the rear potentially gaining a redesigned bumper while staying put with the existing tail-lamp design, roof spoiler and rear wiper. Spy images have indicated the same dashboard layout, nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system, trapezoidal AC vents and three-spoke steering wheel. Maruti Suzuki could differentiate the facelift through new upholstery, a revised dual-tone interior theme and ambient lighting.
A single-pane sunroof may also join the equipment list. Feature additions could prove more significant than the visual changes. Ventilated front seats are expected to join the Baleno for the first time while an ADAS package could become the headline technology addition. If confirmed, the system would give the Maruti Suzuki hatchback features such as forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking and lane-related assistance.

The variant lineup will more likely remain familiar but the addition of AMT in CNG version could alter the positioning of the mid-spec versions. The updated Maruti Suzuki Baleno will arrive with a minor price increase over the current model and it will continue to compete against the Tata Altroz, Toyota Glanza and Hyundai i20.
